Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning. Хобби

As David said, sharpen that forstner bit. After all you sharpen your turning tools, so why not your drill bits. The urn is beautiful. I like the use of the threaded inserts. The finish is outstanding. Thank you for sharing. Have a great 2024 and stay safe.🙂🙂

You can easily sharpen that Forstner bit. Use a diamond card. I use a cheap set of bits from Harbor Freight and keep them razor sharp with a few swipes.
Thanks for the tip!

Beautiful wood. What is your source for the maple burl?
I get a lot of wood from instagram.com/worldwide_burl/?hl=en and stabilizedwoods.com/
How deep did you clean out the base/urn? What is it it intended to be used for?
It turned out beautiful!
Thank you! I left about a 1/4" on the bottom. This is going to be a display piece for the symposiums.
Have you ever used "Hard Wax Oil" as a finish?
No I haven't
