  • Adam Morrison was the best ammeter prospect at one point. He was compared to the legend himself Larry Bird, but didn't have the same success. Many people think he failed as a basketball player. Did he? How? He had size, natural scoring ability, opportunity, yet it didn't help him when he got to the NBA. It shows how different levels of basketball are. You can have a college program tailored to fit your game, but find on another level, with stars already in place, your preparation didn't translate.
    Here's why many consider Adam Morrison and Ultimate Bust.

      If things worked out just a little better, he could have at least played 10 plus seasons in the association, maybe as a 3 point specialist like Kyle Korver. Too bad too, I think his success would have been good for more regular people who look at playing the game for the love of it and playing right, etc.

    The ACL and draft team he went to were the biggest stunts but I’d argue his diabetes were just as impactful. He really struggled adjusting to the nba schedule and the rigours of it. In college it was easier for him to maintain it as they didn’t play as many games. Still one of the greatest college players to lace them up over the past 20 years.

    • @jaked6903
      @jaked6903 3 года назад +5

      This was the major reason, the hectic schedule would play around with his energy levels leaving him feel flat. You see most players suffer a burn out in their first few years and the second year blues. That's gonna be amplified with diabetes, plus he dealing with mature bodies and more athletic players. The ACL was just the nail in the coffin. Still could've had a role like a Novak or even a Dunleavy jr.

    When he was coming out of college I’d figured he’d be a first round pick. But not 3rd overall! 😄 Getting drafted that high put unrealistic expectations on him. If he’d gone towards the bottom end of the lottery or the mid first round he could have gone to a team that would have had a better development plan for him. On a side note:
    Adam Morrison
    Kwame Brown
    Michael Kidd-Gilcrest
    Jared Jeffries

      That's been one of the biggest criticisms of MJ or those around him that he just can't spot talent. There are more - He drafted Sean May, Raymond Felton, Okafor (which looked great at the time but turned out to be mediocre), Drafted Shai G-A then traded him immediately, DJ Augustin, Brandan Wright, Cody Zeller, Noah Vonleh, Frank Kaminsky....Just an insane amount of terrible picks. Also had awful FA signings like Tyrus Thomas and Nick Batum. Kemba and LaMelo are the only picks he's like REALLY hit on.

    I was never sold on him. Not only did he have poor lateral quickness but he didn't have a quick release, it was never going to be easy for him to get shots off at the pro level.
    The knee injury definitely ruined any chance he had of making a career for himself, but that rookie shooting percentage was frightening. There's not too many guys who start their career off getting the touches he did and shooting so poorly who turned it around and had good careers.

    If you wanna jinx a player on the NBA Level just say he'll be the next Jordan or Bird. Guarantee Fail. Morrison was tweener, too slow to play the two and not strong enough to play the 3 or 4.

    Some players are Great college players but don't have it in them to be Great or Good players on the highest Level. well he won 2 chips and made it too the league like you stated the people who make videos bashing him most likely never hooped before or made it as far as Adam did. I agree with stunts 1 and 3

    he def is an ultimate bust. i rem i thought he was gonna be huge. He was that dude at Gonzaga. i think stunt #1 and #3 hurt him the most. If he woulda been drafted to the right team, things may have worked out better. i never knew he had diabetes. For ultimate busts, u gotta do Michael Olawakandi, Sam Bowie, Nick Collison, Kwame Brown etc
