He Was Better Than Kemba Walker In High School! What Happened?

  • Former McDonald's All American Andre Barrett was a prodigy growing up in New York City. He became one of the best point guards in Seton Hall's history, and one of the best in the NCAA by his senior year. Unfortunately he didn't get drafted and at his size had a huge mountain to climb to finally make the NBA. His career was shorter than many expected, but some like myself commend him for even making it and beating the odds. Either way, his career was a lot faster than it could've been. Here's why I think it wasn't.

    Ayyyyyee!! Andre Barrett was so cold! I remember the first time I seen him hoop for the ny gauchos n Vegas he was a sophomore! Never seen a guard that fast that small that good! He hit every layup at the top of the backboard and hit no rim on all his layups! That’s all I practiced all summer using that backboard!💯

    I Played with Dre on the Choz from 12-16 years old and he was the real deal, his issues was exactly what you said, he wasn’t the most consistent shooter and he was undersized. But the boy was cold, he could break down any defense by himself, set you up perfectly in stride or wide open on the wing, and he finished under the rim as well as any pro I’ve seen. You did a great job with this!

    I think he went to the wrong school. Came in with a highly touted recruiting class. Eddie left, toney el wasn't that good. He didn't have a lot of help. His game isn't a leading scorer, he is a set up guy, floor general. Based on his height. He is close to growth reached to me.. appreciate the trip down memory lane. 2 of my prep school teammates played at the Hall with Barrett..

    A bit misleading. Dre is 8 years older that Kemba. The headline makes it seem like they matched up in high school.

    • @MIGGYME1
      @MIGGYME1 3 года назад +3

      Im guessing the connection is that they both were from up north and diminutive in size but kemba has a better jumper...to be honest kemba does everything better. I dont really agree with all these players having “stunted growth”,some of these dudes just really werent that good and were overhyped as hell like lenny cooke and countless others.
