Would definitely recommend the just enough items mod so that you can easily see all the recipes in game
And also get just enough resources in case there are some extra stuff that he needs from drops or something

the arc furnace is a super late game build and needs high voltage electricity. build an alloy kiln.
p.s. Also build a coke oven, it turns regular coal into coal coke, which is a lot better than charcoal for steel, and a biproduct is creosote oil, which you also need
Create an alloy klin it is a 2x2x2 strukture out of klin bricks wich creates alloys (electrum is an alloy) and also create coke oven wich creates creosote oil and coke coal wich is a much more efishent fuel source for the blast furnace
Loved the video @csx42! Can't wait for the next video/stream of this series/miniseries man! Yes, Zombies can climb ladders in Minecraft, although I've never actually seen that happen until this video.
The Basics of an Iron Farm is that the Villagers around the Platform that has the Zombie get scared, put their resources together to quickly make an Iron Golem. The Golem spawns on the Upper Platform which hangs over the edges of the Zombies platform below and are pushed over by the Water flow which is stopped by using open Fence Gates. The Iron Golems fall off the Upper and Larger Platform to try and deal with the Zombie, only to fall into a very large pool of Water, 1 block deep, they then sink into the buffer layer of Wooden Signs, and then into a very large pool of Lava, again 1 block deep, through another Wooden Sign Buffer layer and settle onto a very large pad of Hoppers. The Hoppers then feed into some Double Chests where you can collect the Poppies and Iron Ingots from the Dead Golems. In case you're wondering, the Crafting Recipe for a single Hopper is 1 Iron Ingot in each of the Upper corners, 1 on each side at the Center and 1 right in the Center at the Bottom of a Crafting Table.
Hopefully this will help you a bit later on as you build your Iron Farm in this Let's Play series!
iirc, immersive engineering has a simple alloy smelter which is a 2x2x2 of a certain type of brick, and you should be able to make electrum with that... or you could just grab the thermal mods giving you a simple pulverizer and the induction smelter

Train simulator is even harder so give that a go
Word of advice you should be able to make alloy kin which can make electrum also you can get dish dye making the crusher which also doubles ore put into it and get the dust that way or the engineers hammer can turn ingots into dust like what you do for iron plates. Also please make the coke oven you get creasot oil and coal coke which is a better fuel for the blast furnace.

Oh and i have an antique store up on a hill near my house that has a booth full of trains, among which is more than one HO 0-8-0s! They probably wont be dcc ready but that can be fixed with some wiring if your still looking for an 0-8-0

For your iron farm you got to put torches every where except for up at the farm then they will spawn up their instead of on the ground maybe this will help.

@csx42 one tip i do is use this in conjunction with the create mod and create a giant tunnel bore for strip mining or i make a mining drill in immersiver engineering

You should really be using a mod like REI, which shows you all the recipes. It's basically a recipe book on steroids.
Nice vid, also streaming will be a good way to make more videos. However, YOU DO NOT NEED THE ARC FURNACE
Not only is it unnecessary but it also requires electrum to make anyways. In order to make electrum, you can smelt electrum blends which are made with silver and gold grit. Grit is made by putting ores/ingots in the crusher, which does not require electrum and will not take a million years to make.
Edit: also someone in the comments brought to my attention that there is also a alloy kiln, which is 16 sand and bricks.

You should play just another whistle stop. It's an ir modpack, where trade and a reason for trains exists.
