With Sony being pretty silent for a long time, it can be hard to fill the show with interesting news. Personally if it is a slow news week I would be most interested in getting some details / mini reviews on indie games that we may have not noticed. I am not sure if you would call Kena an Indie game but I totally forgot about Kena. So that was a really good reminder. I remember thinking the visuals looked great in the showcases but I totally missed it's release and reviews. Or with the new PS Now replacement service coming in, mini reviews of some of the older games would be interesting and useful. I have looked over the PS Now games list several times and it's hard to get excited when you don't recognise many of the games. By discussing older games guests on the show can really get passionate about games they loved and that passion is great to listen to and is infectious inspiring people to play more.
I think I want a legit exclusive RPG from Sony. Not a game with RPG elements but a straight up, meaty RPG. That and a new FPS are things I feel Sony’s first party is missing. We’ve got lots of third person action games, lots of platformers. A few sports related games but I’d love to see the studios branching out and taking some risks. It worked for Guerrilla Games and their move from FPS to third person action adventure. Be bold, Sony first party studios!

No way I’m paying more than $60 for new plates, regardless of what’s on them. These are cheap to make and cannot justify a price higher than that. I’ll grab one when they make game or character specific ones for sure, as long as they are the same price as normal ones.
They've been busy for the holiday season on other things. They're still a part of Beyond and I assume we'll see them again after the start of the new year.

SO true! i'm not into that kind of game (or so i thought) until i started watching people play SR on youtube. i bought it and it's great fun - with LOTS of strategy, which i really like too. i've completed ALL of the dlc maps (without using mod super trucks) -and some of those (kola penn./imandra/amur maps) are HUGE challenges!
I will NOT be surprised is Sony makes a move on Ember Labs, I think at one point Quantic Dream was on the table before all that allegations came to light.
I just clicked the video to check it out and man.................. they need to cancel this show. The only one with a personality interesting enough to host a podcast is Mark Medina. It's like watching current day SNL knowing it's only on because of the names that used to be on it.
PlayStation coverage in general, including reviews etc on IGN has been terrible but that is industry-wide at the moment.... there seems to be a huge focus on Xbox and Gamepass coverage and article after article on that stuff.... maybe PS management just doesn't engage with the media or maybe Xbox are just better at generating coverage.....

I am not interested in plain coloured plates. I only want really cool limited edition plates for my favourite characters or games. I don't know what the official price is, but if it is $60 for a plain piece of plastic then it's just WAY too much. The 3rd party plain plates are $30 to $50. The plain plates should be $40 and then $60 for the carefully hand designed limited edition game/character plates.
I've already got Dbrand black ones but as I'm weird like that, I'll get the official black PS5 plates and give the black DBrand ones to my brother for his PS5 :)

Tales of Arise is great. It is on sale right now even if you don’t buy the DLC. I do recommend getting one piece of DLC for skill boosts but wait buy it mid game or use it mid game. It is a great addition to the series in the top three definitely probably the best game in the series I played the mall I recommend it highly if you are a JRPG fan get you a good 60 hours in with this one

Wow, when has the video game industry become so numb to these prices. It's conversation about how cheap the ps5 faceplates are is dumb ( 54.99 is too high) More reasonable is 29.99 or 39.99. Notice how they're massively expanding & spending tens of billions upon cloud-services, cloud gaming, software production and subscription services? All of those ventures would decrease the demand for buying an Xbox... and yet, they're still doing it and surprisingly selling out their console units at a rapid pace.

Well, when you have Xbox locking Zenimax off PlayStation...that is highly anti-consumer given that PlayStation is a much more global brand and dominates Europe, the Middle East and console gaming in Asia and much of South America...... what MSFT did was lock most of the world out of those games. Very few people are going to buy an Xbox for those games. They will just play other stuff on PS....

Oh man, Beyond podcast is so sad right now... No games to play, very few game exclusives that you need to play compared to xbox game pass. Let us hope Spartacus will bring some magic and smiles to the people together with some not scalped ps5.
I was there on day 1 when PS5 released a few hours before it was supposed to, ready to buy, just for Demon's Souls, and I decided not to because I hate the white so much. I still don't have one because they're impossible to find, but I don't really regret the decision -- there still just aren't enough exclusives for it to be worth the cost even if they were available. All of my devices are all black, even my Gameboy, Wii, and Switch
good that you stood by what you want - never buy unless you get what you want. that being said, i bought my ps5 and i love the first year. demon souls and returnal are so good they both are games i'll never get rid of (and i hardly ever keep games). throw in the excellent ratchet/clank and miles morales and i've had a very fun year. then there is the dualsense - best controller ever (and i was very skeptical before using it). also, i do NOT miss the load times on games now that everything is playable in a few seconds. good luck on getting your ps5!
@@beavis4play Thanks :) Demon's Souls would have been a system seller for me, though I've played it a million times on PS3, so a bit less of a must-have. I was able to play Miles Morales on PS4 -- amazing! Srsly, thank god for all the PS$ support with these new games!! Super stoked for the hardware changes like the dual-sense! It sounds amazing!
@@Hackrifice - man, i still owned the ps3 demon souls disc - i couldn't guess how many hours i'd poured into that game. but, playing it on ps5 - the look and atmosphere is jaw-dropping. and then there is no wait time between warping to areas and getting back into the game - it's an amazing playthrough - even for us hardcore fans. and hey,. returnal is an amazing new IP - the only thing is it has a very tough learning curve. if someone doesn't pay attention in the game - they'll struggle. that said - i absolutely love that game. and yea, the dualsense is outstanding. if you get a ps5, one thing to remember that i've found to be 100% true: from the first time your dualsense flashes the "low batter" warning, you'll still have at least 4-5 more hours of battery life (i've timed it multiple times) so, keep playing for that amount of time before worrying about hooking up the charger.

Nah I can see them trying it but it'll bite them in the ass... Plastic is way cheaper and easier to produce than an entire console, there won't be a shortage for them to take advantage of. Also the only market available to sell these to are existing console owners. There's still way more people that want a PS5 than have them
I want to order the black plates to do my part to convince sony to make TLOU themed plates (Ellie’s tattoo design down the side? Take all of my damn money), $50+ dollars is still too much to buy something I’ll use for awhile and then nix in favor of the original white look or my desired TLOU themed plates. A few things here first so he can’t afford to make the big accusations that Microsoft makes funny just doesn’t have the cash on hand. Microsoft is $1 trillion company they can buy any studio that is up for sale if they want it to Sony cannot. Secondly you guys were right Sony doesn’t really need to make acquisitions to acquire new video game properties instead Sony did make some good moves by buying up studios that they normally sign contracts to make games. Why would I keep signing contract with the studio to make games but I can just buy them up and have them work for me directly especially if I know I’m going to keep going back to them signing contracts. You save money in the long run. Sony did have to come out of pocket but long-term this will save the money which they can invest in making more games. No Sony does face a problem with the strategy I have to hope that all of their major studios keep hitting on all cylinders. If they have a year of slip ups that could be a monumental problem for them now that likely won’t happen but it’s something they have to worry about. They still also have to deal with development cost it’s going to get more expensive to make games take more time to make games hence why they purchased some of the studios but what happens in the new world post pandemic and you have to make these games how do you compete with certain services your competitor offers that you don’t. Perhaps Sony‘s biggest issue is that it’s going to be supporting more platforms now and it’s going to have to have more people dealing with firmware updates and Sony‘s firmware updates haven’t always been on the ball. That’s the biggest issue how do they deal with this. Because fans are going to want to know why can they do something on the other competitor system and I can’t do it here and sound is going to have to have quick answers in response to features that the competitor offers.
Lol cope, PlayStation has the best exclusive games and xbox literally has no exclusives anymore, every game of theirs can be played on PC so there's literally no reason to own an xbox console ever again and good riddance. You are under the impression that market cap is cash on hand. When you hear Microsoft is a trillion dollar company. Its does not mean they have 1 trillion dollars to spend or anything close to that. That is their market cap. To simplify it, it means all the shares outstanding is worth 1trillion if you were to buy them all but of course, they still have more more cash on hand than Sony. Up until 2 months ago about 3.5x more before sony recently reduced their cash on hand by 60% to set aside roughly 28 ish billion for acquisitions 2 months

Let’s be honest talking about Indies all three major first party publishers used when they feel it’s necessary. Go back and look at the early days of the PS4 why did Sony lean so heavily on independent developers? There’s a simple explanation Sony didn’t have anything from his first party studios to go with. And back to how long it took for you to see Sony really get rolling with the first party games on the PS4. They leaned on those independent developers because that was a way for them to say hey we have some games here. Guess what Microsoft did it Nintendo is doing it now. Hey guys we don’t have anything coming really from our first party studios yet but listen we still have something to play don’t put our systems down don’t stop buying them at the store will look at what we have look at what we have. I personally want all three major developers to go with what Steam has done. Focus on indie games for real. I don’t want a half hearted approach which is what we are still getting right now how far did. Guys we partnered with these Indy developers they have games we like we think you might want to buy them here look at these 10 games when instead Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo should be screening all of their games from independent developers and highlighting all of the good ones to us. Steam chose to go a different route they said you know what the people know what they want and they built the computer program to scan and identify what are the people playing what are the people looking for what are the people purchasing then guess what they show it to everyone. Now that requires time, effort, and money. That presents a problem for Sony they’re lacking in two out of three of those. Microsoft has all three but they don’t have as large a bass a Sony or Nintendo however if they are truly trying to make their world into a platform and not just a video game system this is perhaps how they should look at it build that algorithm to help sort out games that people might want help push those games towards a larger audience help find those games and put them on game pass. Now Nintendo is a unique case because despite all the hiccups despite all the screwup stay or steal the adorable darling in the room. No matter what they do we will forgive them when Mario or Zelda comes into the room so Nintendo could do something totally different they can focus on in the developers build a relationship with them and have them make great games for their platform oh that’s not what’s going to happen Nintendo is going to take every indie game they can get and put it up there whether it’s a 3 or a 10. When instead what they should do is put up a gate in so good stuff only 7 or better. Highlighting quality over quantity that way when you know you buy this game for yourself or your child on a switch you know it’s going to be something they will likely enjoy or you will likely enjoy. That’s not going to happen but we can dream
The biggest problem with PS5 is it's size sad o no investing in such huge console waiting for smaller PS5 pro (even with power brick out) to sell this giant with short HDMI 2.1 cable it is really problem around TV with Xbox series X near just need it to play Horizon Forbidden West, GT7, God of War, KOTOR and such.... Third person single player storydriven adventures and RPGs only with realistic next gen visuals cutscenes (straight romances or nothing) we are not interested what is in their lgbt minds in our free time for our money

Well, when you have Xbox locking Zenimax off PlayStation...that is highly anti-consumer given that PlayStation is a much more global brand and dominates Europe, the Middle East and console gaming in Asia and much of South America...... what MSFT did was lock most of the world out of those games. Very few people are going to buy an Xbox for those games. They will just play other stuff on PS....

Oh man, Beyond podcast is so sad right now... No games to play, very few game exclusives that you need to play compared to xbox game pass. Let us hope Spartacus will bring some magic and smiles to the people together with some not scalped ps5.
I was there on day 1 when PS5 released a few hours before it was supposed to, ready to buy, just for Demon's Souls, and I decided not to because I hate the white so much. I still don't have one because they're impossible to find, but I don't really regret the decision -- there still just aren't enough exclusives for it to be worth the cost even if they were available.
All of my devices are all black, even my Gameboy, Wii, and Switch
good that you stood by what you want - never buy unless you get what you want. that being said, i bought my ps5 and i love the first year. demon souls and returnal are so good they both are games i'll never get rid of (and i hardly ever keep games). throw in the excellent ratchet/clank and miles morales and i've had a very fun year. then there is the dualsense - best controller ever (and i was very skeptical before using it). also, i do NOT miss the load times on games now that everything is playable in a few seconds. good luck on getting your ps5!
@@beavis4play Thanks :) Demon's Souls would have been a system seller for me, though I've played it a million times on PS3, so a bit less of a must-have. I was able to play Miles Morales on PS4 -- amazing! Srsly, thank god for all the PS$ support with these new games!! Super stoked for the hardware changes like the dual-sense! It sounds amazing!
@@Hackrifice - man, i still owned the ps3 demon souls disc - i couldn't guess how many hours i'd poured into that game. but, playing it on ps5 - the look and atmosphere is jaw-dropping. and then there is no wait time between warping to areas and getting back into the game - it's an amazing playthrough - even for us hardcore fans. and hey,. returnal is an amazing new IP - the only thing is it has a very tough learning curve. if someone doesn't pay attention in the game - they'll struggle. that said - i absolutely love that game. and yea, the dualsense is outstanding. if you get a ps5, one thing to remember that i've found to be 100% true: from the first time your dualsense flashes the "low batter" warning, you'll still have at least 4-5 more hours of battery life (i've timed it multiple times) so, keep playing for that amount of time before worrying about hooking up the charger.

@@Hackrifice - after the first couple hours, i wasn't sure about returnal because of the difficulty - it's rough till you learn how to fight........after that, it's a blast!

Nah I can see them trying it but it'll bite them in the ass... Plastic is way cheaper and easier to produce than an entire console, there won't be a shortage for them to take advantage of. Also the only market available to sell these to are existing console owners. There's still way more people that want a PS5 than have them

Take all of my damn money), $50+ dollars is still too much to buy something I’ll use for awhile and then nix in favor of the original white look or my desired TLOU themed plates. A few things here first so he can’t afford to make the big accusations that Microsoft makes funny just doesn’t have the cash on hand. Microsoft is $1 trillion company they can buy any studio that is up for sale if they want it to Sony cannot. Secondly you guys were right Sony doesn’t really need to make acquisitions to acquire new video game properties instead Sony did make some good moves by buying up studios that they normally sign contracts to make games. Why would I keep signing contract with the studio to make games but I can just buy them up and have them work for me directly especially if I know I’m going to keep going back to them signing contracts. You save money in the long run. Sony did have to come out of pocket but long-term this will save the money which they can invest in making more games.
No Sony does face a problem with the strategy I have to hope that all of their major studios keep hitting on all cylinders. If they have a year of slip ups that could be a monumental problem for them now that likely won’t happen but it’s something they have to worry about. They still also have to deal with development cost it’s going to get more expensive to make games take more time to make games hence why they purchased some of the studios but what happens in the new world post pandemic and you have to make these games how do you compete with certain services your competitor offers that you don’t. Perhaps Sony‘s biggest issue is that it’s going to be supporting more platforms now and it’s going to have to have more people dealing with firmware updates and Sony‘s firmware updates haven’t always been on the ball. That’s the biggest issue how do they deal with this. Because fans are going to want to know why can they do something on the other competitor system and I can’t do it here and sound is going to have to have quick answers in response to features that the competitor offers.
Lol cope, PlayStation has the best exclusive games and xbox literally has no exclusives anymore, every game of theirs can be played on PC so there's literally no reason to own an xbox console ever again and good riddance. PlayStation studios makes the best games in all of the games industry, cope harder.
You are under the impression that market cap is cash on hand. When you hear Microsoft is a trillion dollar company. Its does not mean they have 1 trillion dollars to spend or anything close to that. That is their market cap. To simplify it, it means all the shares outstanding is worth 1trillion if you were to buy them all but of course, they still have more more cash on hand than Sony. Up until 2 months ago about 3.5x more before sony recently reduced their cash on hand by 60% to set aside roughly 28 ish billion for acquisitions 2 months

@@donaquiles495 WHAT are you doing to them? i'm a BIG "world of tanks" player and i work those buttons/triggers/joysticks pretty hard - and i'm still on my first controller with no issues. if 2 have broke on you, i'd start looking at what you might be doing to cause it. otherwise, it'll keep happening. good luck

Let’s be honest talking about Indies all three major first party publishers used when they feel it’s necessary. Go back and look at the early days of the PS4 why did Sony lean so heavily on independent developers? There’s a simple explanation Sony didn’t have anything from his first party studios to go with. And back to how long it took for you to see Sony really get rolling with the first party games on the PS4. They leaned on those independent developers because that was a way for them to say hey we have some games here. Guess what Microsoft did it Nintendo is doing it now. Hey guys we don’t have anything coming really from our first party studios yet but listen we still have something to play don’t put our systems down don’t stop buying them at the store will look at what we have look at what we have.
I personally want all three major developers to go with what Steam has done. Focus on indie games for real. I don’t want a half hearted approach which is what we are still getting right now how far did. Guys we partnered with these Indy developers they have games we like we think you might want to buy them here look at these 10 games when instead Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo should be screening all of their games from independent developers and highlighting all of the good ones to us. Steam chose to go a different route they said you know what the people know what they want and they built the computer program to scan and identify what are the people playing what are the people looking for what are the people purchasing then guess what they show it to everyone. Now that requires time, effort, and money. That presents a problem for Sony they’re lacking in two out of three of those. Microsoft has all three but they don’t have as large a bass a Sony or Nintendo however if they are truly trying to make their world into a platform and not just a video game system this is perhaps how they should look at it build that algorithm to help sort out games that people might want help push those games towards a larger audience help find those games and put them on game pass. Now Nintendo is a unique case because despite all the hiccups despite all the screwup stay or steal the adorable darling in the room. No matter what they do we will forgive them when Mario or Zelda comes into the room so Nintendo could do something totally different they can focus on in the developers build a relationship with them and have them make great games for their platform oh that’s not what’s going to happen Nintendo is going to take every indie game they can get and put it up there whether it’s a 3 or a 10. When instead what they should do is put up a gate in so good stuff only 7 or better. Highlighting quality over quantity that way when you know you buy this game for yourself or your child on a switch you know it’s going to be something they will likely enjoy or you will likely enjoy. That’s not going to happen but we can dream
The biggest problem with PS5 is it's size sad o no investing in such huge console waiting for smaller PS5 pro (even with power brick out) to sell this giant with short HDMI 2.1 cable it is really problem around TV with Xbox series X near just need it to play Horizon Forbidden West, GT7, God of War, KOTOR and such.... Third person single player storydriven adventures and RPGs only with realistic next gen visuals cutscenes (straight romances or nothing) we are not interested what is in their lgbt minds in our free time for our money
