The thing is, for channels that focus mainly on a niche like mine, I was afraid that people with a greater expertise than me would criticise what I do as I'm yet to know fully the depth of my topic (minecraft redstone). It is quite complex. It took me a while to overcome that but I do still have the fear of a bigger name redstoner calling me out for something I didn't know existed and could make things a lot better. Not just my niche, plenty of other niches face this fear but I say, if your passionate for your topic, say what you think is right because people can only judge you on what you know, and not what you dont.
You have a epic channel and its quite obvious that you put immense effort into every video, but as a shorts Minecraft creator who started only a month ago I CAN ASSURE YOU if you utilize shorts properly, with the amount of effort you put into your vids you would've easily surpassed 10k subs by now the only reason you arent getting tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands from shorts is because your shorts arent optimized for shorts viewers, the title and description follows more long form content formula than short form, and the video length is too long
if you utilize shorts properly you can get tens of thousands of views every single upload and from tens to hundreds of subs per short and if you like any help you can always just reply to my comment and i can reach out and help you
@@InfinityDargon3000 Thanks for the encouragement! You have a great point with shorts and I've seen a lot of people thrive off it (including you!) I actually have been thinking a lot about it now that you can 'clip' longer videos into shorter format ones which I thought I would start to do with my next few videos to see how it goes. But it's all about the transition from shorts to long form content and that, if you get a viral video will they all convert to loyal subscribers? Will they come back? Will they like the rest of the content on my channel? I hope youtube makes the transition even better in the future as shorts and long form content still seem separated but it's long form content that I'm the most experienced in! But I'll take you advice and I'll try to make shorts that 'entertain' more than act as a tutorial (which I've tried to do) and hopefully they will yield better results! It's good to see an outside viewers pov on these things so I get to know what I'm lacking, thanks again! Btw good luck with your channel too 👍 maybe I'll next check and you'll have your next milestone!
@@TheGoldenDragonmc Thank you so much, and don't worry about what the big creators think because I study about 25-50 big and small shorts creators and almost 100% of the time the content by the big and small creators are inspired by each other. The big boys never judge the small creators unless you are reamking the same videos as them, same camera angles, same thumbnails, etc. They will always always always support smaller creators PLUS the only way to get better is if you keeping make more content
@@TheGoldenDragonmc clipping long form content will work when you are a more established creator but as a small creator i think you wanna take your raw footage you used for long form and simply re edit it to be about 30 seconds whilst using popular music and optimized titles
I'm actually doing a gardening channel without showing my face. I've had some experience with RUclips before, but it's been a while starting from 0. I'll see how it goes, and if I get used to the idea, whoknows, my face might pop in!
Some of these ideas like the (meditation) channel used to work years ago. However RUclips is really cracking down on channels like this due to repetitive content policy. You'll get the views but when it comes time to monetize you'll get denied.
I started my mine recently and put my first video out. It’s a long process to do faceless but it’s worth the effort. I can see how my editing skills have improved already (I have 10 videos scheduled).
I don’t like being so much on camera, and I had found a Korean woman who makes awesome daily vlogs without even showing her face, and that motivated me starting my own channel, it’s hard working but I m enjoying what I’m making and that the most important to me ❤
I'm just now getting into the habit of not tripping up on my words, and getting comfortable with my image on camera. Sometimes (me included) I feel that people worry too much about how they look or sound on camera. my advice would be: Just go for it and have fun!
@@kelsey_K it's okay. Practice in the mirror or use the short camera and delete it. Practice, practice and don't ever stop , if I can do it YOU can do it too. Have faith in yourself , you've got this 😊
What was stopping me was the fear of failure, but I'm over n been posting daily for over a month straight. Seeing results because of channels like this
Well, I´ve had an idea to start my own YT channel for more than 5 years. Somewhere around 2017 came to my mind idea to start YT channel for the first time but I almost absolutely didn´t know how to start because everything seemed too hard to do in just one person. So for some time I just had this wish to start a YT channel but without showing my face. And suddenly I found out that DIY and cooking videos have a huge success and wanted to start one of them. I thought that it should be easy to make this type of content, so I bought the necessary equipment like a camera, lights with softboxes, and different tools and started filming the first videos. Unluckily, I´ve never edited and released them because during the process of creation of these videos I found out that I needed much more equipment and tools than I expected. To make it clear, I had just basic equipment but in the process of filming I found out that it was not enough to make those cooking and DIY videos on a professional level and at least twice a week. So I quit because I felt so exhausted from constantly finding and buying appropriate accessories without them I couldn´t complete those videos as I wanted. I realized that this is not a niche I can make videos just by myself and slowly started thinking about a niche where the necessity of almost constantly finding appropriate specific equipment and tools wouldn´t restrain me from making videos on regular basis. At that time I was a freelancer in the field of online marketing and earned money I invested in different types of assets. I´ve already experienced several successes, so I realized that this would be a good topic on which I could make videos. So now I´m preparing a batch of the first 13 videos in this niche and somewhere about the start of December I´m going to post the first of them on this channel. Yeah, I have to appear in those videos personally but I realized that it will be the best way to make content on regular basis. The major thing I need for the creation of this type of content is my knowledge of investing and business, not specific food or equipment like those cooking and DIY videos required. :)
Whoever is reading DONT give up on your channel. Think about all the hard work that you have already put in. Every youtuber was once in your spot they just kept going. Stay consistent and you will reach your goals. consistent uploads and improvement and some determination is all you need! I am going for 275 subs by the end of November!!!
Pet channels are another great example. I tend to show my hands, occasionally the back or side of my face but primarily I focus on my mice and include commentary or music 😊
I originally started faceless and voiceless bit I realized that the channels I watched with similar content were more interesting when the people behind the camera were known to me and I came to enjoy their personality. I got over the fear of negative comments and it's been very positive so far. One thing I still can't get over is talking to the camera when people are around. It feels awkward but I'll have to get over it at some point because it's not always possible to record in public without someone present.
Thank you so much! I’m not too camera shy, I simply like to keep my identity generally hidden from my vids and I do tutorials that I feel don’t need my face.
I think the hardest thing for me to start a youtub channel is that i dont know what its gonna be named or what i am gonna do on it, and also i dont speak much english so i dont want to have a bad english if i start a english channel or if i am just gonna start a channel in my own languege
I started my (mostly) faceless channel as a way to just get used to RUclips and understand how it works without having my face all over the Internet, and now I actually want to see how far I can go without being on camera full time - I use a lot of props, photos, and extra footage to get things done, and I focus on my voice, editing and scripting to make sure that the listeners get the non-verbal clues they're missing that way. It's totally possible, and makes you think creatively! Glad to see this video from vidIQ, it's a great morale boost 🙂
The last option, the most difficult imo, is making your own animated character to use instead of your face. There's also purposefully hiding your face in the shot with lighting or a costume, like Todd in the Shadows.
Takes time to get comfortable on camera. Not because of being shy, but moreso because of getting used to talking into a camera without someone else being behind that camera filming it 😂, like I've noticed I don't mind filming myself with my drone or having friends film me but as soon as it's just me and a camera and the game I'm playing I get awkward lol Cheers for the info as always, should be helpful to a lot of people hesitating to start channels 👊🏿
i have this same issue. One way I get around it, is by shooting off random comments or speaking to the camera what is on my my mind and then splicing that in to the edit. Talking to a camera still feels awkward even after a year for me.
art commentary and speed paints with just music or talk also don't have to have your face. they are nice to and they can include fandom art and ocs. it can be mixed with animation on the same channel if you want as well
This was really interesting! We're a faceless channel that covers movie stuff, but it really is harder to do stuff when you don't have a face, as people sometimes assume you have something to hide. But we went with it because our mother said don't show your face lol
From experience I know there's tons of options for channels that don't have your face. I know, I'm talking from a 700+ channel, but my IRL work is narrating. I have done gameplay, review, cooking, tutorial, business presentation, educational, animation and so on. Plus I also work doing editing (narrating jobs are hard to get haha) and the same applies. I would say that besides some cooking, music and tourism channels, I never see the person's face.
I've been wanting to continue my gaming channel. However, I wasn't proud of my first video and I thought I would eventually have to show my face. Thank you for the video it really helped!
I want to do street interviews and create wholesome content with strangers but the thought of approaching strangers terrifies me. Its not like I haven't tried, I did try to overcome this but approaching strangers on the streets and asking them to be a part of my video seems like the hardest thing ever. I know it'd be easier if I had someone with me but unfortunately the people around me are flaky and I can't get anyone to help me out with the videos.
I’ve been trying to start my RUclips channel but happen to procrastinate about it and put it off to the side. I’m not really experienced in the software world but I want to start a gaming channel. I also want to learn how to edit videos. If anyone has any suggestions please reply to this comment.
People that want to make content without showing their face but still want to give viewers a face to connect them with, they should look into vtubing. It's a great way to have all the perks of a facecam while staying annonymus.
Hey you , don’t quit I know you want to quit but you should be patient you’ll see where it takes you it’s not gonna happen overnight but I believe in you❤
I used to have a youtube channel years ago but I deleted it. I hated to be in front of the camera because of my look, voice, English is not my first language, etc. But I decided to try again with a cooking channel. to get confidence just a month ago. So, we will see how it will go in the future.
Got 550 subs in 2 months with no cam! I streamed for a year or 2 on twitch. The camera factor always put me off a bit, so I never did it full time. Now I'm doing a random gaming niche on YT with no cam and am getting great results. But being able to have game footage I can talk through as I'm playing helps a ton as well. I Never thought of doing a lot of the things suggested here and will be trying some when I move away from full time gaming possibly in the future
My own channel is a pretty good example of a gaming channel where I almost never show myself on camera. I find it incredibly distracting to play a game while I am being filmed directly so never normally do this and just do commentary instead
Is a hard challenge but if you don't do it someone else will. So, just have fun while create videos, and don't think on the numbers at the start ;)! Good luck to anyone reading this :33!
Just coming up with a niche. I find it hard to come up with content and support that content for years to come. I'm a retired SGT Major from the US Army. I have no problem being in front of a camera. When I played pool on a pro level I was on TV local in that area. Pool was more than a few decades ago. Ill think of something someday before I'm dead.
If you do Tutorial videos i recommended condensing them as the biggest compliment I often get is to do with how quick to the point I am which has helped those videos continue to grow
While some of my videos are on serious topics, I'm able to bring some light hearted humor into them, all without showing my face, but using text, clips etc . However, some of my subs keep asking me to do live videos either by myself, which would be impossible for how I do my videos, or to join others in their live videos within my niche, but that would most likely be strange as I'd be the only one using a static photograph for me. Strangely, I can get up on stage sing, dance and act but I can't do that kind of thing when it comes to my RUclips channel!
EXCELLENT LEARNING, I MADE MY CHANNEL JUST 1 WEEK AGO AND I WILL NOT GIVE UP, ALWAYS LEARNING AND STUDYING TO BE ABLE TO GIVE A BETTER LIFE TO THE FAMILY. THANKS
It took me a while to start a channel because I didn't even have a laptop so I couldn't edit. I was also very nervous about talking in a vid (still like that but working on it).
It took me 4 years to get over being in front of the camera. That's one of the reasons I never started! I was absolutely terrified and anxious about it. I finally got over most of it, but it took a lot of mental energy to get there 😅 I'm also afraid of making mistakes, but doing more takes and editing helps fix that issue!

I don’t show my face on my channel, but use my own footage and do the voice over :) I’ve currently got 5k subs and had a short that got over 1.6million views!
I don't show my face on my channel mainly because I want the focus to be on what im talking about and not me, on top of the fact I need to use still images and/or videos to get my point across. I'm not particularly a camera shy person but by the same token don't consider myself photogenic and also don't feel showing my face would contribute to improving my channel (possibly the opposite). I have in the past considered it and even put it out on my community whether people would want me to start showing my face and the majority where happy with me carrying on with my current format (read into that what you will).
I started my channel after watching tons of silent vlog, I mean faceless silent vlog. I got inspired by it and wanted to share my interest. And I did it! Its not easy, slowly but surely.
We are with 2 , me (christel) dont have trubble being on camera .. but Lydia does .. if she doesnt feel comfertable when we are filming ,we agreed i take over the story and help her to go more in front of the camera 😊 real teamwork
Yea I do roblox edits and ur tips help a lot but no offense but editors need some editor tips as some of the gaming ones don’t fit editing btw love your videos keep up on the good work!
More detailed video on the topic of Animation channel will be interesting. Because there are so many variations for Animation 'styles' and 'use cases'.
i upload gaming videos and barely ever show my face, i just find it more relaxing when you don't have to worry about a camera looking at you all the time.
On my channel, I use a unique Avatar/Vtube/Anime so I don't have to be on camera and so far it's been a great experience. I'm fairly new (3 weeks), but I haven't seen anyone else doing this. Time will tell if it works. 🚀
What is keeping me from making content is myself. I am anxious and my hands shake heavily thus creating self doubt, I'm unsure if I can do it with the lack of editing skills.
This is an endless learning journey. Understood the importance of doing great research before creating the videos! Amazing help from vidIQ! Keep up the good work
As of now I haven't use my face much - because I wanted to do something different. But I am not shy and there is some content from my playing live. And who knows what the future will bring : )
Mainly because of anxiety to start and not know what to make. I already have the skills to do it (editing and filming as a filmmaker) but not know what to produce makes it difficult for me

You have a epic channel and its quite obvious that you put immense effort into every video, but as a shorts Minecraft creator who started only a month ago
I CAN ASSURE YOU
if you utilize shorts properly, with the amount of effort you put into your vids you would've easily surpassed 10k subs by now
the only reason you arent getting tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands from shorts is because your shorts arent optimized for shorts viewers, the title and description follows more long form content formula than short form, and the video length is too long
if you utilize shorts properly you can get tens of thousands of views every single upload and from tens to hundreds of subs per short and if you like any help you can always just reply to my comment and i can reach out and help you
@@InfinityDargon3000 Thanks for the encouragement!
They will always always always support smaller creators
PLUS the only way to get better is if you keeping make more content
You have such great energy and can tell you're getting more comfortable on camera - keep it up!
@@BrickedtoPerfection thank you!
Let’s people judge and just ignore 🎊
I’m still kind of choking on my words but I know over time it’ll get better
@@kelsey_K it's okay. Practice in the mirror or use the short camera and delete it. Practice, practice and don't ever stop , if I can do it YOU can do it too. Have faith in yourself , you've got this 😊
as someone who creates content without being on camera
definitely go ahead if you are hesitating
I'm a new RUclips content creator. It can be hard and overwhelming at times but we will get to our destination. Keep going!
Pet channels are another great example. I tend to show my hands, occasionally the back or side of my face but primarily I focus on my mice and include commentary or music 😊
*VTubers don't show their face and many are very successful with gaining subscribers, views, and getting recommended.*
FOR REAL BRUH
Yes I'm wanting to be one and a streamer but I'm starting off as a streamer
Just like dream one of the best youtubers eve
Best ever

I originally started faceless and voiceless bit I realized that the channels I watched with similar content were more interesting when the people behind the camera were known to me and I came to enjoy their personality. I got over the fear of negative comments and it's been very positive so far.
One thing I still can't get over is talking to the camera when people are around. It feels awkward but I'll have to get over it at some point because it's not always possible to record in public without someone present.
I started my channel this year and it's mostly without showing face. Tons of respect for the creator space it is tough and super awarding!
Or just use a mask ig
1:38 u missed daily dose of internet
I’m a faceless channel. Nice to see you representing.
Takes time to get comfortable on camera. Not because of being shy, but moreso because of getting used to talking into a camera without someone else being behind that camera filming it 😂, like I've noticed I don't mind filming myself with my drone or having friends film me but as soon as it's just me and a camera and the game I'm playing I get awkward lol
Cheers for the info as always, should be helpful to a lot of people hesitating to start channels 👊🏿
i have this same issue.
One way I get around it, is by shooting off random comments or speaking to the camera what is on my my mind and then splicing that in to the edit.
Talking to a camera still feels awkward even after a year for me.
@@retro-af yea its a bit weird its like pretending to be talking to someone in an empty room like a mentally ill person
art commentary and speed paints with just music or talk also don't have to have your face. they are nice to and they can include fandom art and ocs. it can be mixed with animation on the same channel if you want as well
This was really interesting! We're a faceless channel that covers movie stuff, but it really is harder to do stuff when you don't have a face, as people sometimes assume you have something to hide. But we went with it because our mother said don't show your face lol
My channel is faceless and it has not been so easy to grow. I have been pushing hard since May 2022 that I started and am at 300 subs now.
Watching is fun, Starting a channel is depressing 😅 (Personal Experience)
From experience I know there's tons of options for channels that don't have your face. I know, I'm talking from a 700+ channel, but my IRL work is narrating. I have done gameplay, review, cooking, tutorial, business presentation, educational, animation and so on. Plus I also work doing editing (narrating jobs are hard to get haha) and the same applies. I would say that besides some cooking, music and tourism channels, I never see the person's face.
Thats what I have been doing since I started my channel! Thanks!
I use a camera to film my content (sometimes), but I don't usually use my face. Instead, I use a character I drew.
although i don’t mind being on camera, and plan on it eventually, my channel doesn’t involve my face and i’ve seen some great growth!
I've been wanting to continue my gaming channel. However, I wasn't proud of my first video and I thought I would eventually have to show my face. Thank you for the video it really helped!
I'm one of those creators, I don't show my face and I'm not planing to do it soon, my animated characters do that for me. 😃
I wear a bucket to hide my face, quite unique! 😂
5-minute craft is a monster, but lots of their "crafts" are useless, however they do make it very entertaining to watch. That's a great formula.
I have shown my face on my first video
@@Tommys_adventures56 and how is work all for you ?
Just coming up with a niche. I find it hard to come up with content and support that content for years to come. I'm a retired SGT Major from the US Army. I have no problem being in front of a camera. When I played pool on a pro level I was on TV local in that area. Pool was more than a few decades ago. Ill think of something someday before I'm dead.
If you do Tutorial videos i recommended condensing them as the biggest compliment I often get is to do with how quick to the point I am which has helped those videos continue to grow
This is very considerate for those of us who don't have faces...
For me being on camera is one of many reasons I also care too much about people judging my looks my voice and I also fear of making mistakes 😭😭😭
Same here. But then again I say those who get in front of the camera (no matter the looks) have balls of steel compared to 99.999% of others.
Have a channel but I can't even speak English propaly but I am pushing 🤣🤣
Same here 🤣

I don’t show my face on my channel, but use my own footage and do the voice over :) I’ve currently got 5k subs and had a short that got over 1.6million views!
Thank you,it's actually very hard to start a channel without showing your face, and also I'm a new subscriber to your channel😊
Best thing I did was to be an anonymous creator. No shyness or camera awkwardness, never being approached by strangers on the streets. Peace of mind 😊
i started a faceless channel its all about travel and its really doing great and still growing
Yup 0:07 that’s me
I'm really shy to where I don't even like speaking on a microphone.
same, but only for the first few mins

Exactly what I've been trying to do, and enjoying the process so far!
The first steps are the hardest :( I hope that everyone who sees this message will get their dream channel :D Don't give up!
Shut up
Me : loosing motivation
Vidiq : Uploads a video
Me : let's go buddy
As an animated character, I agree being in front of camera is a lot of work
More detailed video on the topic of Animation channel will be interesting. Because there are so many variations for Animation 'styles' and 'use cases'.
most compilation channels with no commentary fall under "reusing content", causing the channel to not qualify for monetization.
i upload gaming videos and barely ever show my face, i just find it more relaxing when you don't have to worry about a camera looking at you all the time.
When I record videos with the PlayStation4, of course my face isn't on them XD
On my channel, I use a unique Avatar/Vtube/Anime so I don't have to be on camera and so far it's been a great experience. I'm fairly new (3 weeks), but I haven't seen anyone else doing this. Time will tell if it works. 🚀
Im starting in december, when i’ll buy myself a computer because mine currently boots up in 1 hour
Finally the video I need been doing YT for 6 yrs and I want to be mostly faceless
4:15 I've literally started doing this with animations on my brand new channel - I'm hoping for the best...😅
Some amazing tips man! keep up the good work
being bullied for my looks made me hate taking pictures and being on camera and for my voice, this is the reason I don't wanna start a youtube channel
Mainly because of anxiety to start and not know what to make. I already have the skills to do it (editing and filming as a filmmaker) but not know what to produce makes it difficult for me
Hehe i must watch this before my face reveal 😂
Wow beautiful ideas to start a RUclips channel. Many thanks 👍👍
