Improving so quickly, that's awesome! And you know what you need to do to get even better. If you can do this in 6 days, imagine yourself 6 months from now!
Not uncommon for uphill running and having it that high shows a lot of effort. With some more acclimatization it is probably a bit lower but it takes a bit more then a few days.
@@paxundpeace9970 my experience is different. When I go to altitude from sea level I can’t max out heart rate. I understand physiologically that the heart does not get enough oxygen and therefore will not beat faster. This does get better the longer I spend at altitude. Her HR maxing out is a sign of her overall cardiovascular health. Altitude be damned.
Congrats Allie! You really have the heart of a lion. So glad this race went so much better for you. Really neat to get to run this with your sister. That had to make this even better. Great smiles.. both of you. Be safe and stay healthy.
You're doing amazing!! Only 6 days after the other race- holy cow! So happy to see you enjoying it and so glad you still raced after Pikes Peak! This is fun following you on your trail and training adventures - I'm also excited to see more! & inspired to do some trail racing myself
You and your sister are so much alike. In the car before the warm up your sistwr said something i have heard you say before just every workout. She said, "yeah, its gonna be good!" Then there was the shoot just before the start of the race, you looked at the camera, smiled and it was like the gun went off and you went to 100% focus in an instance. Happy you were able to put Pikes Peak behind you. It wont be your last bad race but im sure you know this. We can do everything right and its the things out of our control that can all go bad... I've been there. Dont look at Pikes Peak as negative, turn it into a positive. I know in someways you have already, this race shows. If haven't already decided, you should go back to Pikes Peak next year, show the course whs boss and show yourself you can run good there. Love your smile while running, its always awesome seeing people smile while enjoying what they do, even when its hard and unforgiving at times.
So glad you were happy after this race. Wasn't it fun knowing you had your sister there with you? She loves you so much and that kind of support is special. And your attitude rocks. You have an inspiring personality. I love seeing your competitiveness as you get more comfortable in your new professional ventures.
Great Job Allie is say finishing 9th is awsome that looked like a tough race i'm very proud of you did great im looking forward to seeing what else you have planned keep up the great running Allie i didn't know your sister liked to run to thats cool im sure that was fun to run the race together how was the hot spring i have never been to one i plan on seeing one someday
My hero!! All your life you've been destined for greater and greater achievements!! No quit in you! Soooooo glad you're sis didn't die. I think we'll make you an honorary Mexican burrito lover...you've certainly earned it. 😊 #9
Way to go Allie!! Was able to catch you on the Mountain Outpost livestream! Amazing what a week can do! Another tough course and tough field and you rocked it.
Hi Allie. Congratulations on a great race and top 10 finish! I'm really happy for you that it was such a huge improvement from Pike's Peak. That was clearly an anomaly and you are headed in the right direction. I ran this race too and happened to be just a few feet from you on the start line and wished you good luck. I never imagined an amateur like me would line up in a race next to a pro like you, but that's one of the cool things about these Golden Trail races. I agree with you about nearly dying on the very long and very steep Dragon's Back climb! Of course you finished the race way faster than I did, but I did somehow manage to win the "old man" age group (50-59). And congrats also to your sister who also crushed it!
Great! 'E-race' that last race from your memory. Back on track. Rolling ankles is always my great fear as well because it happened in some cross country races but ever since switching to minimalist footwear this does not happen anymore, although it's hard to do the mileage, so it's a tradeoff.
Allie, way to crush it at Mammoth Lakes! You really put in a hard push to try and close the gap to Elise! Was so excited to see you come across the finish line!😊🤙🤙🤙
Doing your best. Learning. Improving. Enjoying the process. Feeling proud. What more can you ask for. Congratulations. ☮☮🕊🕊☯☯🙏🙏4 Ukraine. May all your ups and downs have only soft landings.
Excellent episode. Nice real room to stay in overnight, much better than a look-alike motel, great shots of the race in progress. Good job in the race. Nice bikini shot. 40,000 is in the bag.
Congrats on your very strong finish! Next time you're in Mammoth (next year!) be sure to stop by Schat's Bakery. They are well known for their sheepherder bread but everything there is delicious.
Ah man, was watching the Golden Trail World Series replay and saw Allie O!!! Great run and finish!!! Seems your fitness is getting there, and the more technical work you do the better you'll get. Looking forward to seeing you more in the GTWS stuff in the future (I hope)! Keep grinding it out and have fun!
Yk Allie you may not see this. But I was recently struggling with my love for the sport. However, after watching ur videos and Spence’s videos I’ve started to fall in love with it all over again. Thank you for being such an amazing help and to see your progress. I hope to do something special in my running career these next few days
You have put out truly strong and excellent efforts in some incredibly challenging races. For your Pike's Peak video, I had shared what I hoped was a very positive comment, and that just vanished from RUclips. Then I put it up again, and saw it, and it vanished again. So I hope I hadn't written anything that wasn't right, as I was so impressed by your incredible effort on what might be the most difficult half marathon in this country. I gave you a "10" on the guts gauge for doing that race, and thought that if you would have had about 10 days more to acclimatize (from my experiences of climbing Colorado's highest peak in Leadville, and then the next day running 2 miles in 17 minutes and change instead of 14 minutes at 10,000 feet of elevation.....ooh what did I notice that was missing....oxygen!). After enduring Pikes Peak, doing this race 6 days later....holy moly! That really shows how awesome your mental fortitude and overall strength is. I think you are as smooth on a downhill as a glass of 20 year old scotch! I remember I did a 10k, 6 days after a marathon, let alone running up a mountain for about 10 more miles beyond that as you did, and I was toast...didn't get out of bed for a day and half after that. You have a great sense of humor, as you cracked me up when you finally saw your sister finishing saying "She's not dead...I'm so happy!" I know that feeling, from my first marathon, where my bud was faster than me, but after finishing, I waited for him for 45 minutes, and was perpetually checking the medical tent. That scenario happened a few more times, wondering if my buds were on the course or at the hospital! Congrats, as after what you survived at Pike's Peak, and likely dug about as deep as you could to finish that race, and then to take on another real beast of a race at high elevation, and doing great..... that leads to my recommended name change for you, switching out Ostrander, so your full name would be.... Allie Awesome! You are right, as this is just the start, for which you are so strong, both mentally and physically, and you are and will be getting better, and better, and better!
Thanks for leaving a comment here! I'm sorry that your comment on the last video disappeared...I'm not sure why that would have happened. Anyway, I definitely think that altitude acclimation would have helped me at Pikes Peak and probably this race too. I'll keep that in mind for next year! Waiting for a friend or family member to finish a somewhat dangerous race is so nerve wracking. I wanted Tay to do well, but, most of all, I just wanted her to be safe!
@@allie_ostrander Thank you Allie! Oh my goodness, you are so right of the worry for those whom we love being on a mountain, and not knowing if they are running or injured. Great, great job in one amazing week of running close to 30 miles with incredible elevation gains. You Go Allie O!
I'm so stoked that you are trail racing!! Been waiting for you to realize your potential and make the switch, for a couple years. AWESOME!! I'm bummed to hear that you were so hard on yourself over Pike's. You did excellent in that race, and my gawd.... there's nothing harder, as a Half, on the planet! Your racing here was excellent, and you were right there in the fight. Fantastic job! A couple tips. A Naked Running Band is all you need, and will allow you to switch to a lighter sports bra that's not so restrictive to chest expansion during breathing. You don't need much for these "short" distance races. Like maybe 1 or 2 GU Roctanes with caffeine and a coupe of peeled tangerines to wash them down. And a partially filled 17oz camelbak soft flask, in the back panel of the running band. Nothing in your hands!! You need free arm movement. Shoes with thick padded heels will promote ankle rolling, and the wider the heel sole area is, the more unstable the shoe becomes on uneven surfaces. You'd probably love racing in something like a Merrell Trail Glove, with Injinji Toe Socks. Keep having fun, and keep up the great running!
Just the path not having snow would have made this race better than the last. Could be the answer is Taylor needs to run every race you enter. 🤷🏻♂️ Well done!

I thought you were a little nuts for doing this race 6 days after your last but considering you were feeling low about it maybe only having to sit with the results for a short time was good. (Although I still think you did amazing at Pikes Peak) As someone who rolls my ankles regularly walking on flat I’m always dumbfounded how people manage to run on uneven terrain without doing the same. nah thats crazy u happened to watch at the moment she says if i can make it to the top ten so can you and then u get top ten, thats some all lowercase allie bib ENERGY its funny how both u and ari did races on back to back weekends recently w the first one being rly tough but then bouncing back and the second one looking so so good, super happy for you!! also good to see the post race burrito, even tho it shoulda been free at the finish line, tsk tsk cmon race organizers 😒😒😒
the cuteness of the bib really carried me through ;) also, I'm v disappointed that neither of my last two races have provided free burritos :( they had free pizza, but it's simply not the same..
haha the race website showed that it would be 17.2 miles on the map, but they were advertising it as a 26k? So funny! Trail running is a whole different world...
Great job! Heading to the final event in Italy or are you gonna finish the season closer to home? I reckon you can make the overall top 20 with a good showing there, I think it gives 50% more points than the 6 previous races.
less than 5 mins off the podium on 28k!!! also, the distance variance on trail races is a consistent thing...blame the devices used to measure, not the RDs imo
You got lost, lost a gel, fell and rolled an ankle …..you are officially a trail runner!!! Congrats.
haha initiation complete!
So what did you do a week after running up a mountain? "I was bored and ran up another mountain." 😂

haha yes that climb was a killer! Hence my feeling of being deceased lol
Keep your chin up regarding Pikes Peak. That race humbles everyone no matter what your talent level
Pikes Peak definitely got the best of me, but I'll be back!
Nicely done, Allie 😊
great racing! Top 10! So tough!
Thank you!!
congrats on a well earned result youre happier with. hoping there was no nandrolone in your burrito in that hole in the wall!
Yes! He was actually in Pikes Peak and this race. Unfortunately, he got way off course during Mammoth, so he didn't finish.
nah thats crazy u happened to watch at the moment she says if i can make it to the top ten so can you and then u get top ten, thats some all lowercase allie bib ENERGY
its funny how both u and ari did races on back to back weekends recently w the first one being rly tough but then bouncing back and the second one looking so so good, super happy for you!!
also good to see the post race burrito, even tho it shoulda been free at the finish line, tsk tsk cmon race organizers 😒😒😒
the cuteness of the bib really carried me through ;)
also, I'm v disappointed that neither of my last two races have provided free burritos :( they had free pizza, but it's simply not the same..
Awesome work allie ❤
Did not expect to see the STAIRS?!! Was that super difficult ?
Great run!🎉❤
Thanks! 😊
Logged so many joyful miles in Mammoth. Yay homie.
Yay!!
Could you do a hair tutorial for how you do your race hair?!
I guess I could haha! I never thought of myself as much of a hair person, but I could show how to do it.
Awesome Job!
Fantastic! What a tough course. Congrats!
Jeez! 26k stated, 27.5 actual. They're called bonus miles and you don't have to pay extra for them. :) Great race.
haha the race website showed that it would be 17.2 miles on the map, but they were advertising it as a 26k? So funny! Trail running is a whole different world...
Great job! Heading to the final event in Italy or are you gonna finish the season closer to home?
I reckon you can make the overall top 20 with a good showing there, I think it gives 50% more points than the 6 previous races.
I'm not sure about Italy yet!
Epic ❤😎
Legendary as always
Looking good Allie!
Your really statring to be a mountain runner great job!!
Thanks!
I love this
When your first name is your bib number, say no more, your the best. LoL
Great Job!!!
Yay! Stoke is back Allie 😃
The Return of The Stoke
Top ten is great in the Golden Trail series!!
Can't wait to keep working my way up!
less than 5 mins off the podium on 28k!!! also, the distance variance on trail races is a consistent thing...blame the devices used to measure, not the RDs imo
I think I saw your gel on the trail. Considered grabbing it but was too tired 😂
hahah I hope that someone put it to use!
Wow!!!
Awesome vid!
Two races in two weeks.
Go get them!!!!
Yep! Nice to get some good work in!
Great job. And how did I not know your sister was such a beast also
she doesn't hype herself up nearly enough!
