1 hour? jesus cm over and do mine too bro this job looks pain in the a** -- 22R engine on 82 camper i got oil pan leak big ass shit in the way of pan !
I have to remove my timing chain due to the stupid plastic guide breaking. Don't want to remove the head, so have to get to the two bolts hidden by the oil pan. This is a great video and will help me safe a ton of time.
Jeremias Alonso : 4x2 is more easy, just un bolt the engine supports y lift with a jack about 1/2 inch from the transmission and is out, during the cleanup release the jack and lift it again when u r read to put it back.
There is nothing easy about these things; I've dropped many oil pans on Chevys, Fords, and GMCs and nothing has been this (stupidly) involved. Your video helps a TON, thank you! I'm just amazed that people like these rigs: they're underpowered, prone to rust because of crappy metal, extremely difficult to work on, and there's a decided lack of after-market parts that are quality and forget about interior/exterior molded or metal parts, unless they're used. /rant Sorry, got off track...
The reason why people love them is because they will run forever. The 22RE engines are one of the best engines ever built. Many of the trucks body will rust away while the engine is still good to go. Honestly 500,000 miles out of these engines are common and are expected. I have mine and it has 316,778 miles. You are right they are not powerful, but so reliable that people that knows these are always on the lookout to purchase them. I'm asked all the time if I would like to sell my baby.
Richard Price I have been trying to trade or sell mine and no luck, I have paid thousands to keep it running and can’t afford it anymore; I have to get the rear main seal replaced which is god awful expensive
@@erichzann2966 I'm shocked about it being hard to sell. Mine needs a new clutch which I will do myself. Everything is easier if you can do it yourself. I just replaced my worn-out timing chain and gave it a bre water pump and oil. How much are you asking for it? Maybe I can help you out asking around here in the Austin Texas area.
Richard Price I would think that dropping a tranny wouldn’t be difficult, but, for this, I probably have to dismantle the truck bed, call Toyota, in japan, but only on Tuesdays around 8:32AM and have a ton of specialty tools.... compared to a Ford, GMC or Chevy of the same year, this stuff horribly difficult I am in Alaska, so it’s a bit away, but thank you
@@erichzann2966 there is a guy that is young who has a 4runner that does excellent videos on these. You won't need to drop the bed to remove the tranny. It's the drive shaft, transfer case, transmission mounts then the transmission. It's best to have a transmission jack which allows you adjustments to find the right angle when reinstalling. My email is price2574@yahoo.com and if you email me I'll find the link to the guy that actually does everything that you are needing to do on your truck. He replaced his rear main seal. Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks for the tip! I've been dreading this part. Now I can't wait to get to it...kind of.
Badass video man!!! Made the job so much easier! Took me an hour was all just to get to the oil pan. Appreciate this video!!!

Tony Jenkins did you have to drain the oil before you took those two bolts out? And did you only take the front two bolts out?
Tony Jenkins of the oil pan?
Glad to help
Thanks got to pull the differential back bolts and I'm home free😁
Did you do this with front wheels on the ground or lift it ( I am working on a 2 wheel drive version)
Idler arm
You right. I was thinking the same thing every time he called it the pitman arm. The pitman arm is much more difficult to remove 😂
I have a two wheels drive ,,¿ its easier than 4×4?

Did you gasket maker on the pick up tube
Yes I did but be careful not to use too much. You don’t want it getting sucked into it. But don’t unbolt it if there’s nothing wrong
Did the axles dislocate?
