You may need to "burp" your clabbering milk once or twice a day as the fermentation matures! I like to put the cap on loosely so it burps all by itself. :)
Thank you for sharing this
Yep, mine oozed onto the counter. Oops!
Happens to the best of us!
I do have the pickle pipes do you suggest I use that. Our climate here in Texas is so different from yours. If not I will try the loose lid
how do you know it needs to be burped
I love how your goats just hop up on the platform to let you milk them.
They love it!! They are fed yummy snacks while being milked.
Heather I absolutely love your video. I made cottage cheese in my HOME. ECONOMIC CLASS IN 1963. MY CURDS WERE LIKE RUBBER LOL 🐸
I loved it and ate it. Told my teacher mine would last all day with the chew factor. We always had fun in that class. They need this class back in school. Thank you DEAR😎😎💞💓💞
I watched a video yesterday about making cheese curds and some people like a rubbery texture it seems? Maybe IDK what "sqeaky" cheese curds are but it doesn't sound appealing to me lol! I agree home ec really needs to come back!!
I use raw cream that has gone a little sour in making chocolate ganache. The slight tartness adds a nice dimension to the ganache.
That sounds HEAVENLY! Thanks for sharing!! ♥
I had always thought cottage cheese needed more than one ingredient to make... I thank you for this video!
You can do it with rennet or vinegar, but with raw milk you only need the pre ingredient!
"Fermented milk" is my favorite Ferment so far I think. Clabber with honey is so good! Very good to know it can be made into cottage cheese as well.
I use clabber to put in place of sour cream in beef (venison) stroganoff!!
Oh how wonderful. I love cottage cheese with peaches or pineapple. So easy to do. Thank you.
YUMMY. I've done peaches but pineapples sound just divine!
Nothing going to be wasted anymore at my house. I’m so glad I found y’all. THANKS!!
YAY I'm so glad this was helpful to you! I'm glad you found us too! ❤🐐
Thank you for sharing this method of making Cottage Cheese! I appreciate your sharing your knowledge.
You bet! Thanks for being here! ❤🐐
My husband eats so much Cottage Cheese, this was great! You made me hungry watching this, that I actually ate Cottage Cheese while you made it! Thank you for sharing
That's so funny! I love it!
Interesting! I would have never know that’s how to make cottage cheese. Thank you for sharing this with us!
No problem! There are ways that don't ferment the milk first, but this way has such a complex flavor and is SO good for you! ❤🐐
Wow! Cottage cheese, yum!
Thanks for putting this together
You bet! Thanks for being here!
Interesting. Something easy enough for a beginner. Thanks for sharing. Love how the goats go in to get milked.
They know where the good food is. 🤣❤🐐
Thanks for sharing! Never thot about making cottage cheese. You made it look simple.
It was simple! Thanks for being here!
I've made yogurt, milk Kiefer, cheese and butter but I've never made cottage cheese. Thanks for sharing your recipes.
You bet! You're already a pro at this milk culturing thing!
It is amazing to watch this cottage cheese being made. Great also for those of us with no access to fresh milk.
Yes, it is doable for you too for sure!
I must say I love the way you explain things. Great way to use milk. My kids want to try !
Thanks so much, let me know if you try it!
I had access to raw milk for years and really enjoyed making simple cheeses. Your cottage cheese looks wonderful!
Thanks so much!!
Awesome! Even though I don’t have access to raw milk, believe me I’ve looked, I will still be doing this!!
Let me know how it goes!!
Nicely done! Never knew it can be made so simply. Will love to try it soon. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay Blessed 🙂
No problem! Thanks so much for being here!
I never knew how easy it is to make cottage cheese! You explained I so well! You are encouraging me to try. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. God bless!
I'm so glad you feel encouraged! Let me know when you try it what you think!
@@SageandStoneHomestead I will, thank you.
Your positivity is a joy to watch, thank you!
Thanks so much! ❤ thanks for being here!
Ooooo...Heather this looks amazing!! So simple after all the different ways I've stressed out trying to produce cottage cheese!! Thank you for this!!!! Eagerly waiting for my girls to freshen!! Actually have 1 yearling (who wasn't supposed to get bred....) who is very close!! I'm praying for a good & easy delivery for her!! God bless your family & your homestead!!
Prayers all goes very smoothly! This is going to be an awesome year for you, I know it already! 😍🐐🐐
@@SageandStoneHomestead I'm hoping so, with God's grace! I figure it about has to be better than last year, right! 😉😂🤣
I love cottage cheese with fruit or just with saltines. And this is so easy to make. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds delicious!!
That was awesome, never knew this is a way of making cottage cheese. BTW your goats and homestead are lovely
Thanks so much! ❤🐐❤
Can’t wait to try this. I make ricotta and freeze it. I got my weights yesterday for the other ferments.
Awesome!! We have some glass pucks for the ferments that need it. They are super handy.
My husband and I love cottage cheese. Never thought to make it myself.. thank you 😊
You betcha! Thanks for stopping by!
Really enjoying your new glasses... I bet you are, too!
Now, I need to go get me some.....
AWE I think you are the first person to mention them! Thank you!!
Thanks for this recipe and especially the mini tour of your homestead while doing your milking chores. I do not have access to raw milk but do make yogurt using store bought milk. I will definitely try this using your recipe.
Yes the culturing process is similar to homemade yogurt! Let me know what you think of your cottage cheese!
Learning a lot during this collaboration.
I'm so glad! Thanks for being here!
This looks delicious and fairly easy. It’s nice hear that “it’s not bad (spoiled)” you can do this with it. I think so many throw out so much because we have gotten away from real food and become artificial processed foodies. Loved the video can’t wait to check out more on your channel
Thanks so much!! Welcome to the channel!
I never knew hot cottage cheese was made! I'm learning so much from this series!
Isn't it fun?! There are other ways to make cottage cheese but this way is pretty great!
My mom used to make a bread with her old milk. She would let go bad in the fridge I mean and then we would make this bread that it was so good. She would call it crazy bread, but as soon as it came out of the oven, we would put butter on it and we would just eat it up. It was really good. I’m gonna probably have to make some for us. Soon
Sounds like an awesome way to use up soured milk!
Wow! Gonna try this. I love cottage cheese, the tangier the better!
This is perfect for you!
I have made clabber cheese before. The cheese is made into balls and rolled into herbs and put under olive oil.
That sounds heavenly!!!
I am so happy to have found this! I can't have bovine dairy and miss cottage cheese and yogurt. It's so hard to find goat or sheep dairy videos that do something other than soap.
I'm glad you're here too! I am too intimidated by the sheer size of a cow to keep one. Goats forever for me!! 😍
Thanks for the options for those of us who don’t have ready access to raw milk.
You bet! I've been there!
This recipe was perfect! This will be how I make cottage cheese now. Thanks for sharing.
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching!
My husband will have me doing this all the time. He loves cottage cheese.
Enjoy it!! ❤
I enjoyed your collaboration on clabbered milk. I couldn’t help but think of all the things I could do with it. I intend to try it with milk from the grocery store since I’m still living in town. Thank you again
You bet! I hope you love it!
I am so enjoying this collaboration! The amount of info is amazing. I haven’t ever done any fermenting but have wanted to give it a try. I’m learning so much! Thank you. By the way, your squirrel moment was indeed beautiful!
Thanks so much! I hoped it was worth including 😅❤
This reminds of what we call farmers cheese. A dryer version of cottage cheese. It's hard to find here. Now I know how to make my own. Thank you 😊
Yes the process is extremely similar!
This collaboration is awesome.
Isn't it?!
Thank you so much. I had no idea making cottage cheese is so simple. Can't wait to try this.
You're so welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
So many things to ferment that I hadn't thought of before
Right?! Nearly endless.
Thank you for sharing this with us! 😊
Anytime! ❤🐐
I am learning so much from theses fermenting videos. I can't wait to get starting & try some of these. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for being here! 🥰
That was awesome. Learning so many new things. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your day.
You're so welcome! Thanks for being here!
This is so funny...... today I have been researching how to make cottage cheese. How cool is it that today's video is a cottage cheese video. Love it!!
Sounds like fate! ❤🐐
Wow that looks amazing. What a way to make cottage cheese
Super easy! 😊
Thank you so much. I might have to buy some whole cow's milk from a neighbor or goat's milk from a friend or maybe both and see which I prefer. I'm loving the collaboration.
Doing a comparison of the two would be so neat!
Oh my gosh Heather! This video is so awesome! You were so informative and included so many great tidbits! I hope to get goats or a dairy cow when we move! Thank you for taking part in this collaboration! 😃
Where are you moving to?!
This was such a pleasure! Can't wait to wrap the whole thing with a bow on the last day!
@@SageandStoneHomestead 🤫 it’s a secret for a couple more weeks. I’m excited for it too!

Thanks for contributing.
Yes, thank you for watching!
Yummy! My mom used to make cottage cheese all the time, I may have to!
Yes! Carry on the tradition!
I love cottage cheese. I have never even thought about making it myself.
If you try it let me know how you like the homemade version!
Interesting! My mom tells me that my grandma use to make her own cottage cheese. Not sure if this was the process that she used but I think I might have to give this a try one day! Thanks for sharing!
That is so cool! A few people have said their grandma made cottage cheese!
What a wonderful video! Thanks for sharing your skills. I can't wait to make my 1st batch of cottage cheese!
Thanks for watching!! Happy fermenting!
Nice!! I love fermenting foods!! Some great channels below to check out too!!!
❤❤❤
Hugs from Knoxville, TN. Loving fermenting.. I ferment pretty much anything in my veggie drawer and even more! Thanks for sharing.
That's so great! 😍
I used to love cottage cheese! Would never have thought to ferment it, though. I no longer consume dairy but this still fascinates me.
Thanks for stopping by! I know at the end of the month someone is fermenting a cashew based dairy free cheese, so stay tuned!!
Now I need a cow! I love cottage cheese. We have goats but I either need to start over with bottle-fed goats cause mine are too wild. It's been about 8 mos. and one is starting to "tolerate" me and make eye contact, but trimming hooves is a nightmare. I cant imagine breeding and milking with these two. The whither was bottle-fed and seeks me out for some loving. There is such a difference.
❤🐄
What an awesome video! You have a teaching gift! I love cottage cheese and have never before considered making my own. I can only imagine how delicious yours tastes using fresh goats milk. Thank you for sharing. :D
Thank you so much!! ❤
Talk about learning something new! I had no idea that was how cottage cheese is made!
It's one of the ways, yep! 😍❤
I love homemade cottage cheese and sour cream. This is going to be fun to make
Enjoy! Thanks for being here!
This is exciting! I typically only think about vegetables fermenting. Very interesting!
I thought this would be a fun twist in the lineup! Thanks for being here!
I’ve made farmers cheese. I’m going to make this. Thanks for the lesson on making cottage cheese.
It's a really similar process!
Clabbered milk sounds wonderful. Love cottage cheese. I do have a farmer that is willing to give (because he cannot sell raw milk) to me to try this as long as I share some cheese.
Sounds like an excellent arrangement! 😍
This is so very wonderful. Thank you for this tutorial. You were very explicit explaining which milks can be used. I will be trying right away. Note to Anna: Please do not add my name to drawing. I want others to have the chance.
Thanks so much! Let me know how you like it!
You have a wealth of information when it comes to diary. The only thing that I have fermented with diary is milk kefir and I love it. Thank you so much. Take care and God Bless.
I want to get into making that regularly too!
My Grandmother had a reputation for making "the Best" cottage cheese... I can attest to her Black Berry jelly.. unfortunately she passed 60 years ago. This reminded me of her.
Lots of people in the comments talking about grandmas making cottage cheese! I love those memories, thanks for sharing! ❤
What a great channel!
Awe, thank you! ❤️

Aren't they so fun?!
Amazing. Never seen cottage cheese made fro scratch WOW

i use fermented rice water to make mine ... i absolutely love this cheese since i have found out how to make it .. i even use the whey in my garden, or i drink it mixed with water on ice .. it is soo soo good
That's amazing!!! I've heard great things about Rice water!
Very interesting! Something I’d love to try. New to fermentation so I’m nervous about it! Thank you!❤️❤️
It's understandable! Kombucha and sourdough were my first ferments. 😊
Thank you Heather! This was a wonderful tutorial and explanation.

I’ve never tried cottage cheese before. Guess I thought it would be a lot harder! Thanks for sharing!
No problem! It was a little hard to track down good info on how to do it!

I have made cottage cheese, but not with clabbered milk. Definitely will try this one. Thank you.
You bet! Have you done with with vinegar or rennet?
I always thought this would be a more complex process. Thanks for the information.

I haven’t tried to make cottage cheese, yet; thank you for the inspiration!

We are expecting our first "kids" next month and will be milking the mommas. This video was perfect timing for me. Thanks for all the info. Can't wait to try this.
YAY. Have fun! Our kidding season has another couple months left but we have been kidding since November! Do you feel ready?
@@SageandStoneHomestead not really ready lol. This will be our first time ever!
Shameless plug but:
We have a bunch of kidding videos in our goat playlist if you want to check them out and get familiar with the process! The recent ones are much better than my earlier versions I recorded with my phone, lol
@@SageandStoneHomestead awesome. Thank you. I will check them out.
My local grocery store hasn't had cottage cheese in month due to shortages, I may have to try this.
Definitely! I heard the same thing was happening with cream cheese too. You can drain more of the whey out and put in the food processor to create a soft spreadable cheese kinda like cream cheese. It isn't an exact match but it is delicious.
Great video! Loving the Fermering Friday. So many great recipes.
It's a really fun collaboration!
How wonderful!
Thank you! It's delicious!
I love cottage cheese so I will definitely be doing this one so thank you very much for the instructions and happy fermenting
