Mary's Nest,
here's a laugh for sharing with you:
I was just at a channel and I was the only second viewer, etc.
The first viewer commented to the channel owner with:
" You think you are making cottage cheese but if you want real cottage cheese go to Mary's Nest. What you are making is more like cream cheese; not cottage cheese ! " ... LoL
I commented to the second viewer and posted: " I love " Mary's Nest ! "
Now I have forgotten the name of that channel, Mary ! " ... LoL

I'm a 56-year-old female bodybuilder. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on cottage cheese over my lifetime. With the inflationary prices of 2021, I will be trying this soon! I pay almost $4 for a gallon of milk and almost $4 for a 24 oz container of cottage cheese. When cottage cheese goes on sale, it's like a gift from the angels. LOL Thanks You So So Much Mary!
Taq
If you have a Costco near you, the price is great. I pay a little over $5 for 3 lbs. of Daisy cottage cheese.
And you eat mostly thickeners.
Homemade cottage cheese!! NO WHEY!! ;)

My cottage cheese came out absolutely perfect and it taste so rich and yummy! I am never going back to store bought!! Thank you Mary! I wish I could post the pics for you to see.❤
This sweet lady keeps showing me how I have been basically bamboozled buying these easy to make things at home mass produced and highly priced in the stores. I will be rethinking how I spend my money and take a little time to do these things at home. I have a parent that has specialized diet needs such as no or low sodium and low carbs. These makes all these things so much more nutritious and they don't seem to take any time at all and nor are they labor intensive requiring all kinds of "strange" ingredients. I am convinced. Thank you, dear!
I viewed this video yesterday and was so excited about making this that I ran right out to get some milk. Your directions are so clear that it was easy peasy to make. This Cottage Cheese is so delicious. I’ll definitely be making this on a regular basis. Thank you Mary!

Hi Carli, I am very flattered by your kind words but I think those ladies are on a whole other level! But hopefully we home cooks are having some fun here together. Love, Mary
@@MarysNest Seriously, Mary, maybe you aren't Cordon-Bleu-trained or a national TV star but when it comes to your wealth of knowledge and your passion for your particular craft, you most certainly do rank among those ladies. We'll be waiting for your first book.
I live in France where it's always been nearly impossible to find commercial cottage cheese. Danone took a crack at it for a year, promoting it the same time as a variety of Skr products. It looks like cottage cheese has lost the popularity contest, as it's now off the market. This prompted me to hunt for a recipe, and yours was both easy and satisfying to make. The finished cheese is delicious. Who needs Danone anyway?!
Mary, I think you're the best! Thank you for investing your time and life into all of us!
Your voice is sooooo soothing and kind.
We make a similar version of this, we drain and squeeze the whey out, but no rinsing under water. And then add a little salt and any herb seasonings (such as basil, oregano, etc.) to the dry cheese and it makes a wonderful herb cheese. I had not thought to leave it as is once it was drained, so we are definitely going to give this a try! We LOVE LOVE LOVE cottage cheese! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Mary. Have a Blessed day
Beautiful presentation! I will definitely try it. Thank you, Mary!
Thank-you, I found this very helpful, and personally reminded me of when my grandmother made cottage cheese. Loved when she would scoop a big spoon full of her cottage cheese into the scrabbled eggs...made the most fluffy eggs...yum.
Really, cottage cheese in scrambled egg ? I will certainly try this when I eat one again.....not much for eggs here....but occasionally I will eat one.....
Oooh yum! I use sour cream beaten in mine before cooking, will have to try your grandmothers way after I make some cottage cheese 😍

Thank you .
Great point you’ve made about not running it through chlorinated water from the tap! Thank you for this very educational video!
Thank you, Mary! Loved listening to you, you explain everything so well and in such a sweet and warm way ♥️
So happy to get this recipe with your lovely simple instruction! My husband loves cottage cheese. He’ll be happy.
You are great in explaining how to do things and to tell what to use if we don't have the right kitchen tool.
My new favorite home cooking channel :)
I was at the store earlier and thought that cottage cheese would be a nice snack on a hot day. However, I've made paneer a handful of times and it always reminded my of cottage cheese. So, when I got home I searched for a recipe and your channel popped up. I checked out a few of your other videos, and I have to say I LOVE your delivery of info, makes it so much more approachable than other content creators. No need for specialty ingredients, expensive tools, or super exact measurements. I mean our ancestors did this before sur le table came into existence! Time make me some cheese! Thanks Mary :)
So thorough.
Thank you.
Learned bunches.
Made this over the weekend. Your easy to follow steps were awesome. The final product was just as you showed in your video. Thanks.
I just made my first batch. I scored a gallon of Organic whole milk for $2.50! It is absolutely delicious! I like cottage cheese but I never eat it plain because it’s too salty for me. NOT SO with this homemade. I ended up with 3 cups of deliciousness that I can eat plain (no salt). Thanks Mary.
Wonderful!! ❤️🤗❤️
How wonderful! My husband is on a salt-restricted diet and loves cottage cheese! Thank you, Mary!
what a sweet lady, reminds me of my grandma, beautiful video, God bless!
Wow, so much knowledge and clear explanation. Brilliant. Thanks so much.
Love this! Watched this morning and just made a batch. Even got some organic milk at the store dated 2/11/2020 for half price. Just put it in the fridge for chill mode. But, I tasted it and even warm it’s amazing. Already made ricotta last weekend, also amazing. I am adding more things to my “ never buy again” list. Oh yeah, also picked up some tomato paste. Gotta make fermented ketchup.
Hi Mary! I love your instructions - super clear and helpful. I wanted to share that I have also used white vinegar that I infused with orange peel. The citrus isn’t strong, but that little hint is just lovely and helps to hide any remaining vinegar flavor.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Lovely teacher! Thanks for this super easy recipe.
I am so happy to find this recipe. I once read that making cottage cheese was very complicated in a factory so I never even thought about making it! I have some store-bought in the fridge that is 400 mg sodium in 1/2 cup which is ridiculous. Can’t wait to try this! Thank you for the video.
Thank you Mary. This was very informative! Shop bought ricotta cheese is expensive. Can't wait to make canalloni with spinach and ricotta cheese. Love your videos!
You are a wealth of invaluable information! Priceless you are Miss Mary!
Can't wait to try your recipe. Enjoyed all the helpful, step by step instructions.
Your tutorials are so detailed specific and clear to understand. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

Hi Lou Ann, Thanks so much for visiting! Glad you liked this!! Love, Mary

Thanks so much for the recipe. Love you
Thank you for yet another fantastic recipe. LOVE your instructions and detailed "lessons". I grew up in Switzerland and we always drank raw milk right from the farmer next door. The cows grazed in lush pastures filled with alpine herbs and flowers. I wish you knew how delicious that resulting milk was... American milk is sadly very bland. However, I have become accustomed to it. I will be making this recipe tomorrow. Thank you again!!!
Thanks for mentioning ... makes me realize the sky is perhaps the limit for infusing chosen herbs or citrus peels into the milk while warming (citrus peel may likely require adding to the vinegar, as commented above, to avoid curdling the milk early)
Great video, thank you for the info. I am going to try this with whole milk. 😊🇨🇦

Dear Mary, I’m so grateful, I made a delicious cottage cheese :) I did not wash it or add any cream. Just eaten with a pinch of salt and a bit of extra vergin olive oil. Your explanations are so clear, truly a treasure. In a couple of week I will also have your vinegar ready to taste ;-) . Thank you 🙏 🙏 🙏
You can add some flaxseed powder to help cleansing your intestines for healthy colon.
Wonderful video..thanks... anything homemade is 99 times better than store bought... I will not be rinsing mine either. I love your kitchen so colorful and sun shiny.. i am enjoying your videos.
Wonderful video Ms Mary.... Learning All I can to prepare for the days ahead. Stay safe and God Bless you and your family from middle GA 🙏
I just made this, after watching your video. I only used 1/2 gallon of milk. It turned out so good. Thank you!!
how much vinegar did you use. i’d like to start out using a quart but could do what you did. just not sure abt amt of vinegar.
how much vinegar did you use?
Thanks for sharing. Lee loves it on his salads. I love it with pineapple like my father did.
Hi Jean, Me too - I love it with pineapple. Love, Mary
Hi Jean, I love cottage cheese with grape or cherry tomatoes cut in 1/2 and so does my grandson who won't touch a tomato to save his life unless I "hide" them in his cottage cheese. LOL
@@babygrandma8654 That makes sense. My family prefers it over ricotta cheese in lasagna. My son Daniel and I snack on cherry tomatoes as is. Lee doesn't like tomatoes texture so he'll only eat them when totally liquefied like in tomato sauce.
I love all your reciepes. Love everything you do.
I loved the way you explain it, thank you 🙏
There are no words to describe the mess I made trying to pour my curds and whey into the colander. As usual, Mary makes it look so easy!! 🥰

I used a thermometer and let it get to 120 but it turned out more like ricotta cheese. I think I like more of a vinegary taste to mine but it is good but I think it can be better. Thank you for teaching me something new to work on. :)
Was perfect 👍 thank you Mary ❤
Thanks a lot for the very detailed and informative video, your way of explaining is very interesting and straight to the point, nothing less, nothing more 👍 I will try it tonight or tomorrow and will let you know
I think that different distilled vinegar have more or less flavour. Usually I’ve been using Heinz. But I’ve been using Allen’s recently. There is a distinctive fruity flavour to it! It’s really lovely and also it seems sweeter tasting!
A tablespoon or two of apple cider vinegar sounds interesting
I LOVE cottage cheese. I will often have it for my lunch with some tomato and cucumber slices! I salt and pepper the combo to taste (yes cottage cheese can be salt and peppered) and enjoy a VERY tasty lunch. Thanks Mary. I'm doing this. Now I need to find some whey recipes.
Hey Chuck, Thanks for visiting! This really comes out great given there is no rennet used. Add some cream and salt to give it that grocery store cottage cheese feel. Love, Mary (PS - and I had to chuckle about the salt and pepper! My husband loves pepper on his cottage cheese!!)
Chuck you may even add chives and radishes to the cottage cheese and spread it on a buttered fresh baked bread, it is soo delicious. You may also add chives, radishes and a chopped up hard boiled egg. Try it :) I grew up on stuff like this and have lots of recipes.
Grace Gniazdowska yep
Cottage cheese is a staple in my house! Grandparents raised me - grampa taught me to put some cottage cheese in half of a cantalope fresh from the garden or market in the heat of summer - and then sprinkle pepper over both! YUM YUM. Matter of fact I have a bowl beside me - I just ate some cottage cheese (store bought) and some canned peaches.
@@graceg1971 yes! I like radishes in it as well! I had totally forgotten!
Awesome I'm gonna try it for sure!
THANK YOU FOR THE WISDOM ONCE AGAIN MRS MARYS NEST 😍😍😘💕💕💕💕💞💞💓💓💝💝💘💘💗💗💖💖💖😻

@@MarysNest Great ideal, let us know when you make it.....:)
So bummed that I need to finish my store bought cottsge cheese before I make this. I can't wait!
Make an omelette with it it rather good
Great information! I am going to make this now!
I have just discovered Mary's Nest and I'm so excited to find this recipe for cottage cheese. I have been making yogurt for some time because I hate buying all of the plastic containers. For that reason I have avoided cottage cheese for years. Now I have an option! Thanks, Mary.
