For me, it's Vol 1, hands down. The story, aesthetic, the locations, the actors, the use of animation to tell the backstory of O-Ren Ishii, etc all worked together to produce an excellent film experience.
I love both movies, they're super iconic. If they ever attempt a reboot or a sequel, it would be interesting to see Uma's daughter, Maya Hawke, feature in some capacity.
This was a tough one. I'm pretty sure I like volume 1 just a bit better than 2. But it is close. I think the overall best fight sequence was her fight with Elle. That fight was so bad ass, yet it pales in comparison to its conclusion. When she plucked out her last eyeball, it was so shocking and epic and satisfying. So many emotions in just that one fight. And Beatrix leaving her alive is so much better than killing her. If she kills Elle, then her punishment is over. No more pain or suffering. But leaving her alive to suffer in blindness and bitterness for many years to come, is so much more satisfying. Though to be honest, I've always figured that due to her blindness, she would likely wander too close to the black mamba she brought to kill Bud, and she would die horribly just as Bud did. Which would be a nice poetic ending as well.
UGH. I do NOT want to make this choice. There's just so much to love about both. At the end of the day, I'd probably have to side with Volume 2 due to all of the storytelling.
I like Vol 1 a lot. Love the fight scene w Oren and D crazy 88. Love the animation too. Th ending was boss. I rewatch vol 1 a lot. Elle and beatrix’s fight in vol 2 is my fave.
On repeat viewings 1 is pretty boring. However if you're ever in Japan, go to "Gonpachi", the restaurant that inspired the layout of the house of blue leaves fight. Reasonably priced too, despite being in Roppongi.
Kill Bill, tied with North By Northwest, is my favorite movie. I consider Kill Bill to be one film, but I can't lie, I've seen v1 more times. House of Blue Leaves fight is just so damn epic.
I remember watching Kill Bill Vol.1 thinking, "Who let Quentin make this movie?" It was so good and epic. I loved this really long movie so much. I mean, it was supposed to one long movie and it works. Both volumes do what they need to, and I love when Quentin pulls it off.
Βοth are awesome and close cause i liked them both,if i had to choose i would say the over the top bloody action/homage style and iconic shots together with music together with the cheesy, dialogue one liners and overall story in Volume 1 makes it take the edge.
THIS is the reason I believe Quentin Tarantino has more movies in him - he filmed KB as a single movie, but the studio wanted it to be two. Part One will always be my favorite, but if I watch it, I always have to complete it with Part Two. Now, if he could just squeeze out a Part Three.....🙂
QT has screened The Whole Bloody Affair, his extended cut a few times in LA. It adds some scenes back in and cuts the unnecessary scenes that bridge the two. Also apparently it's told linearly in that cut. I haven't seen it, but I would love to see a Blu Ray release of it at some point.
Some more Face Offs I really, REALLY want to see: The Howling Vs. An American Werewolf In London The Great Mouse Detective Vs. An American Tail Armageddon Vs. Deep Impact Child's Play 2019 Vs. M3GAN Back To The Future Vs. Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure Superman 1978 Vs. Man Of Steel Shaun Of The Dead Vs. Zombieland Alien Vs. The Thing Ghostbusters Vs. Beetlejuice Frankenstein Vs. Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde Invasion Of The Body Snatchers 1956 Vs. 1978 The Exorcist Vs. The Omen House On Haunted Hill Vs. The Haunting ET The Extra Terrestrial Vs. Starman🤞
I’m in Team Bill. He was a good dad - look how happy she was. They were all assassins. He had a right to know. She just leaves and by her own admission didn’t expect that to work. Dads should get more love.
Next you could do Unnatural history from 2010 from Cartoon Network and it's only one season and Maybe you could also do Aaron Stone from Jetix from 2009 too, thank you.
I will only watch it as one movie. Cutting it in half completely gutted it. The intermission comes when the screen goes black after the “they’ll all soon be as dead as…” Here’s some over analyzing. Before she’s buried alive her name is bleeped out. She has to symbolically die and be reborn again before she can be named. Another thing I noticed was she finds a razor in her boot. She could have used the razor to end it all. If you know what I mean. But she was so determined not to give up she punched her way out. Uma Thurman was nothing short of incredible in the movie.
Vol 1 is the best. The only thing that dragged Vol 2 down for me was that the final confrontation with Bill was mostly talking and not enough fighting. If Kiddo's fight with Bill had been as epic as the trailer fight with Elle (or even Gogo), it would have been perfect. Still can't believe Tarantino let that happen.
If music had been a criterion, Vol. 1 would definitely win. The OST to Vol. 1 is excellent. Why Tarantino chose Rodriguez over RZA, for Vol. 2, I’ll never understand. 🙏🏽🦊
People used to tell me I had to watch these movies. I never got around to it. And now, having read about Quentin's sadistic shenanigans, I will NEVER watch them. Not interested in watching an actress being tortured for the sake of some weeny's ego, thank you.
@@mrsportsguy134 Ah, I see you haven't listened to anything she's said about this movie. Get informed, little man. And stop clutching those raisins - gangrene down there is nothing to sneeze at.
Kill Bill Vol. 3 wouldn't really work because the grudge Vernita Green's daughter has pales in comparison to The Bride's. Yeah, her mom was killed (after she tried to be sneaky and shoot The Bride with a gun), but it was justified retribution for her part in the killing of nine innocent people, including The Bride's unborn daughter, in a small wedding chapel in El Paso, Texas. The Bride earned a happy ending!!
As known, this production was intended to be one single film, and it was cut in two for length reasons. In his book The Kill Bill Diary, David Carradine tells how his character and the process developed, including several additional scenes they had to shoot to separate the parts smoothly. It appears that the basis of this video's verdict lays on which section has more blood spilled than anything else. All of the first part, and the ultimate reason of everything has no sense or meaning without the second part, Bill and Beatrix relationship. There's a reason the film is called *"Kill Bill."*
The idea that there should be a vol 3 that focuses on the daughter coming back to kill the bride would ruin the films. There's basically only one outcome for the end and it would taint the story.
It’s pointless to even try. Beatrix would be the only person to go after unless she decided to recruit people, which would be dumb. Doubt she would risk her daughter for that.
I am the only who thinks the second straight up sucks? Like, in the first movie, the bride is this mysterious, dangerous and badass character, and in vol. 2 she just becomes weak and boring.
It'd be an interesting take to do a face-off series picking really really awful movies and which is worse. So, for example, The Hobbit v LOTR. Yeah, I said it, they're all rubbish.
Vol 1 is the most iconic of the two, but I really enjoyed the buried alive scenes and the twist at the end of Vol 2
The whole film is iconic
What’s the twist? B.B.?

Oh hell no there’s absolutely no reason to. It’s one of those timeless films. If someone tries there’s no way they could improve on it.
Vol 1 was always my fave, but whenever I fire it up, I always follow it with vol 2. It just feels right.
Both are great, but I prefer the Eastern vibe of Volume 1 over 2.
