...When Dan was shot, Wade, for the first time in his life, was on the other end of one of his acts. For the first time, he saw the meaning behind the pain he caused and he did not like it.
Truth.
You can see he was truly reformed here after encounter with Dan.
Yep he redeemed himselfm
@@leonardobraynen1524he saw that the killing had to stop.
My respect to ur comment..
@@DQ58 Thank you,
Such an under appreciated movie with great performances from an amazing cast. Love your channel btw
I agree, I watch it every time it's on, it's 3 movies that I stop what I'm doing to watch every time
Absolutely, not a single member of the cast sticks out like a sore thumb and the amount of rewatchable scenes in this film with Bale and Crowe together is unreal.
Yeah, love it and re watched it many times. Very under appreciated. Ben Foster is perfect villain there too
You people need a dictionary because this movie is completely far from being ''Such an under appreciated movie ''. In fact, I would argue it's immensely overrated, when you consider the same movie you deem ''under appreciated sits on a 86% AUDIENCE SCORE with over 250,000+ Ratings... You would be the type to say Harry Potter is such a ''hidden gem''. These days every single thing is ''underrated, a masterpiece or a hidden gem.'' Plebs...
sheet such a bot
This reminds me a lot of Red Dead Redemption. Ben is Low honor Arthur if he were the leader of the gang but in the end decides to redeem himself. Dan Evans is John Marston, a family man who did everything for his family only to die mercilessly. Charlie was basically Micah if he looked up to Arthur instead of Dutch.
Definitely!
no no ben is more like dutch but instead of being unsure what to do at the end when arthur dies he kills micah arthur being dan
Red dead copied hundreds of westerns. Nothing creative at all
@@HunterMagunterTo be fair there’s only so many stories and creative ideas you can have in a western. Of course there’ll be overlap. Luckily, most of these similarities are good so no matter how many times we see them it’s impactful every time
I always see people compare wade to Dutch, (usually people who haven’t seen deadwood) this take is way more accurate though!
Ben had daddy issues and it was good for his soul to see a real father in Dan
watched the film for the first time and its a great story about two mens journey about their life and deeds. Both actors were great and should act as duo in more films.
This is a really good review of this character. Im a fan of the movie but didnt quite get this character , makes more sense now. Great video keep it up
I came here looking for why Wade killed his gang? But I got more than what I was looking for. Your analysis made this movie make more sense to me and didn’t disappoint. Good video👌🏾
Thanks friend
Basically Ben Wade killed his gang for two reasons: The very first one is for his gun, The Hand of God and its curse: everybody touch that thing exept him, will gonna die. Second one, but not less important, he did it for Dan and his son. A sense of justice because for the first time, he killed "for a right cause". Dan helped Ben to be a betternew man just by telling him about his life as Ben did with Dan.
Dan's son was right and Wade KNEW IT: "You're not all bad."
Not sure if you've done it yet, but "Vincent" from the film, "Collateral" would make a great episode.
Another great character
One of my favorite characters. Wade was a conflicted person who was secretly good deep inside.
A brilliant film and a great story.
Gosh i loved this movie, thankyou for helping me understand it even deeper!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a wonderful reading of the movie!!!
Great video. Obligatory comment for the algorithm.
Excellent delving into the mind of Wade! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was a great character study, thanks for your effort.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good movie and well acted but while I understood that Ben respected Dan and that’s why he killed his own gang I thought the ending was kind of meh. However after your broke it down in greater detail it made a lot more sense! Great video and you have a new subscriber.
Both the old and the new 3:10 were awesome. "Even bad men love their mommas!" was my favorite line in the remake. Having read the bible, Wade probably noticed the similarity between the two instances of a good and innocent man being killed
One of the saddest movies ever aside from the Passion of The CHRIST. I love Ben Wade.
Really enjoyed your explanation of the film, deep down he hates his life and when he killed his men, he had a way out, probably opened up a church in some border town
Ben Wade is not such a villain to me. He's an outlaw, but he's got a heart.
Similar to *BILLIE THE KID*
After watching this video, it makes me wonder if the two characters for the videogame RDR2, Dutch Van Der Linde and Arthur Morgan, were inspired or influenced by the character of Ben Wade.
Ben influencing Dutch's charismatic and charming persona, being well-read, and manner of dress, and Arthur Morgan due to Ben's moral struggle, outlaw youth and father dying at an early age, his artistic ability, and unspoken dream of a better life.
the ben wade x charlie prince relationship is very similar to dutch x micah
and i really think dan evans was one of the inspirations for john marston in the first game, along with clint eastwood in the dollars trilogy and unforgiven
@@jaketeks Bruh "Similar". Micah is literally wearing Charlie Prince's outfit but with reversed colours for the hat and coat. Both characters are suck ups to the gang's leader. Both end the same way. They did more than homage, they completely ripped it off. Same way they did the Jesse James train robbery scene shot for shot
@@RedTigerDragoon i agree. i don't think it was a total rip off personality-wise because i see a lot of loco, the klaus kinski's character from the great silence, in him, like being greedy and disloyal
The inspiration for Dutch comes from AL SWERINGTON from the show DEADWOOD. Not Ben wade. Arthur does take a lot from him though.
Excellent character study! In depth and insightful. Thanks.
good analysis, thanks. I thought the most important part of the film was the drawings. Of things he admired: freedom, beauty, and character. And the most important moment was the drawing on the bible. He was drowning in admiration. I appreciate how you highlighted Wade's wrestling with his worldview.
Thanks I appreciate it!
Great dissection of the movie and character.
This is great!
Phenomenal analysis
Amazing!!!
I like to think the preacher Crow plays in The Quick And The Dead is a reformed Ben Wade and the outlaws of the movie are a former gang he ran with before creating his own.
Can you do Alec Trevelyan from Goldeneye??
Me gusto mucho esta pelicula deja mucha enseñanza, me doy cuenta que habra personas que tienen autoridad para mandar a otros, y saben dicernir lo que son capaces de comandar entre el bien y el mal, cada quien elije su camino,
i think wade finally realized that the life he lived was wrong when dan was shot
Nah Wade realized that long before....
But Dan's death helped to speed up his transformation into a reformed and godly man.
Guys, it’s simple, he wanted to be with Redhead ultimately, who wouldn’t?
I have his replica a cimmaron hand of god 45 cal with the scripture blessed are the peacemakers laser inscribed on the barrel love that gun
Excellent video, thank you for this. I always kinda felt sorry for Charlie Prince. Dude relentlessly attempted to rescue Wade. I know he's a rabid dog, but, I admired the loyalty. Plus Schofield revolvers are freakin badass.
Title's a bit misleading. Ben Wade was not the villain of that movie, he was the tragic anti-hero. CHarlie Prince was the villain of the movie.
I'd like a review on him.
My theory is that at the end Ben was ultimately executed, because the jail was reinforced ever since he last escaped.
They wouldn't show the horse if that was true. Bad theory.
I think your comments on Ben Wade are very accurate
Now I have to see this movie!
Great movie!
Just finished last night.
@@leonardobraynen1524 same. Watched it on Max
@@Novabunny_ glad you enjoyed it!
They don't make films like that anymore, even if its a Western.
Some Westerns in the 2020s so far has been extreme and promoting agendas
Anyway, i learned alot from this *INTO THE MIND OF A VILLAIN* series.
This breaks down things i would not have picked up on my own.
Can you do Elliott Carver from Tomorrow Never Dies?
Can you do Lotso Huggin Bear and Gabby Gabby from Toy Sories 3 & 4?
Miles Quaritch from avatar next?
a point that i found obvious but never read mentioned anywhere ive seen; clearly Charlie was gay and in love with Wade.
Do the grandma from the Beverly Hillbillies
5 star review 5 star movie
do comedian from watchmen
Christianity is a belief not a religion, and in Gods eyes a sin is a sin. Distinguishing one crime from the next is mans doing in an effort to force control over free men and women who God judges not his fellow man.
Let us imagine this movie made now!
what do you mean? it’d be the same
@@simonblanchard2676 they will ruin it with you know what
@@hbleslmh7940 i really don’t know, elaborate please
@@simonblanchard2676Pretty sure it's the obligatory brain-dead "liberals run everything" comment, mate.
Does this actually understand Wade's relationship with religion? He only quotes the Bible because he read it cover to cover over three days after having been abandoned by his mother, so he's simply got a lot of scripture burned into his memory from that one traumatic event. It's not as if he was actually raised to be Christian and became disaffected with it.
Wade is defined by his mommy and daddy issues. This is also what informs his relationship with Dan -- Dan shows Wade what a truly good parent looks like, one that persists in his dedication to his son and family despite struggle and setback, and Wade comes to admire that, in the way that only a man can who had terrible parents himself. And that's why he decides to get on the train, and why he kills his gang for killing Dan. Wade's relationship with religion has nothing to do with any of this.
I'm losing brain cells almost every day reading some comments online but this tread here it's something else. So the top comment claims this movie is a ''under appreciated'' LMAO 😂😂 wtf???
