This is one of the rare modern westerns that actually captured the feel of the old western films. It actually felt like watching a western movie.

One of the best movies ever made, imo. They shot it entirely in sequence, and there were no sets. If you saw them in a building, it's because they built the building.
I've seen this movie many, many times. Every time got better, and I noticed things I didn't before. The true conflict and boredom of Ben Wade's life shows in his introductory scene. He's not interested in his men or the robbery at all. He just wants to draw pictures. He in fact finds his band, and especially Charlie (who's actually obsessed/ infatuated with Wade) annoying.

This movie was one of the rarities that my family went to see in theaters. My mother has an intuition that is unparalleled, she saw the trailer for this and immediately was telling us "That is going to be a great movie." Sure enough opening day, not a lot of people in the theater tbh, one of the most satisfying action flicks I've seen in forever! Watching now!!

This was probably the best Western to come out since Eastwood’s Unforgiven at the time!

What I love about Ben is he is that famous criminal you’d read about in history. He’s your Blackbeard or Billy the Kid, sure they’re criminals and have done awful things but they’re also very charismatic and have a charm to them that you just can’t help but admire

That’s exactly what Westerns are all about, it’s myth-making and making you sort of captivated by the legends of old, even the villains who in recent revisionist Westerns have become less clear-cut as “bad guys” and you sorta understand their motives.

Hi Brandon, thanks for the review. I haven't seen 3:10 to Yuma yet, but I think I will. I've watched another Western film staring Russell Crowe, "the Quick and the Dead" (1995), but in this one he plays the hero who saves the town. The cast is great; Leonardo DiCaprio, Gene Hackman, and Sharon Stone. It's a good film, I enjoyed it.

Watched it last night and I really enjoyed it. I was curious to see what others thought about it and I found your video. Great review, Brando! Like you, I was enthralled by the dichotomy of the 2 characters and what they respectively stood for.
    WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD:
I was shocked by the sheer wake of death and destruction in trying to get Wade to (or away from) the train. I try not to read too much into the symbolism of things but it feels like he was far more cursed than his own pistol, "Hand of God". Wherever Wade went, Death followed.
Some men who had no dog in this fight, like Dr Potter, still willingly risked death to bring Wade to justice when they could've easily left him to be tortured by other men who had their own reasons to see him dead. They did what they believed was right, even if it killed them!
How far Prince was willing to go to rescue Wade, only to be unceremoniously discarded by him at the very end. He did what he believed was right, even if it killed him!
Same with Evans. He did what he believed was right, even if it killed him!
Indeed, this film is a solid entry point for people who aren't accustomed to the genre.

Hi Brandon, you did a nice job with your review, and I'm thinking about subscribing to your channel once I've seen more of your videos! Like you, I haven't seen very many westerns either. I've only seen the Man with No Name Trilogy, Once Upon a Time in the West, Django (1966), and Django Unchained. Also, I recently decided to revive my RUclips channel after 3 years of inactivity, and the first video I did was an in-depth review of this movie with more content on the way. While there's definitely a lot of room for improvement on my channel, I think it's a good, fresh start and I'm excited to create more videos. Anyways, I've also seen your reviews for Sky High, Tenet, and Back to the Future, and I can't wait to see what you do next!

I'm 46yrs old and I never got into the Western movies. My dad tried to push me into them when I was little with the movie A Fist full of dollars. At the time I was to little to understand what was happening and never cared to watch.
Now that I've lost my parents, I've tried to see why my dad loved them so much. I mean when he was growing up, these were the fast moving bad guy loses movies. Then I saw a short on RUclips with Gene Hackman. The Quick and the Dead. It was the part with him lighting his cigar and just how fast of a draw he was.
Since then I've watched a few Westerns and even through they aren't my first choice on the movie play list, I have to say that they aren't half bad. I like Crowe and Bale, so I was trying to see if this would be a total waste of my time or if it would be a movie that I'd say 🤔 damn dad was right and I was wrong? So before I finish this video here and I'm at the part is it still worth the watch yes. I'll put the movie on cause it's just the dog and me at home for a few hours by ourselves. Thanks for the recommendation and sorry this was a little long of a story. ✌️ out

I am a huge western fan (and of war movies, last year a made a review about Midway, referencing one of your videos) and I mostly liked 3 10 to Yuma although there were some things that threw me a little off. If you are interested in westerns, in the golden era (1950s and 1960s) we had mainly classic westerns and spaghetti westerns.
For classic westerns you named High Noon and Stagecoach, both great, and there are others.
-Rio Bravo is one of my favorite
    -Red River is great
-The Magnificent Seven is a great remake of the samurai movie Seven Samurai.
-In True Grit, John Wayne really earned his oscar.
-Not so well known, but I have a weak spot for Warlock (with Henry Fonda and Richard Widmarck) because of the relationship between Blaisedell and Morgan.
-El Dorado is a fun movie.
-How the West was Won is a true epic.
-If you are into cavalry western films, try Fort Apache, Rio grande, and She wore a Yellow Ribbon.
-Ride the High Country is interesting because it's set in winter mountains and all, the the kind of palace of sins in the mining camp in the movie will give you nightmares.
-And finally, the season one of Gunsmoke is a great season with complex characters (the rest of the show is good but the level drops).
Then the Italians made westerns in a different style and with (mostly) different actors. You mentioned The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, but the rest of the trilogy is also very good. Once upon a time in the West is great for the story. Duck you Sucker has an incredible score by Morricone. Those movies are some of my favorite westerns, but I feel there are less in comparison to classic westerns. You have others such as The Big Gundown, Death rides a horse, or Day of Anger.

Their plan wasn't working, they did not look like experienced robbers. Then we see Christian Bale lead his heard of cows onto the road to block the transport. The robbery was a succes thanks to the Bale's intervention, but then the question is why would Bale help the robbers? There is a very interesting biblical aspect within this movie as well that i dont believe ive ever seen anyone notice. Without saying too much and posting spoilers.... Evan represents the Christ like figure, Ben Wade the penitent thief, and Charlie Prince the impenitent thief. There is a specific moment in the film where Ben Wade (who is established to be very familiar with the Bible) looks down at the "hand of God" and decides which of the two thieves he wishes to be.

-outlaw kills Byron by pulling him off his horse, there is three other guards there they coulda shot him, also they should have been riding behind.
How did it take like 2 days for the outlaw gang to kill the decoy stage coach? Also the stage coach was not guarded at all
