- A chaotic scene unfolded in Glendale, Wisconsin on August 8th when three suspects accused of stealing from a local Kohl's led police on a dangerous chase. Officers located two of the alleged thieves outside the store, inside an SUV. In a brazen attempt to flee, the driver rammed into two squad cars before both suspects bailed from the vehicle and took off running, escalating the already tense situation.

Glendale IS part of Milwaukee. Lived here my whole life. Not surprised by this at all. The only thing I am surprised about, that no one was shot. We have at least one of those daily! At least your police try to make a difference. Here in San Francisco, they can't legally chase unless they know a felony has been committed, and since the cops don't know the value of what's being stolen, they must assume it's a misdemeanor and thus can't chase. So our retail theft and car break ins are out of control because no one is ever arrested. Once your in your car, your clear, the cops must let you go.

I feel the problem is that some people are so used to committing crimes and not being held accountable that they don't even take the time to think about what's the plan if things go wrong. When accountability came knocking, his common sense flew out the window and he somehow thought his best course of action would be to ram a bunch of officers, drive like a maniac and risk killing himself and other people minding their business. He was likely going to have to pick up some trash and pee into a cup once a month for a year.
The problem is they are committing crimes and there’s no excuse for that.
In California you don't even have to run from a crime scene. The Democrats encourage you to take your time in order to ensure that the theft is thoroughly completed.

In most jurisdictions the driver's multiple strikes on marked patrol cars would be considered an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - that being the vehicle he was driving. That would open the door to the use of deadly force against the driver. There are quite a few videos of suspects getting shot for just that, and the OIS was declared justified afterwards.
As it is, the driver's actions do seem to have constituted some sort of exigent circumstances, since the T-bone strike by the patrol car appears to have been a deliberate attempt to disable the suspect's vehicle. While UK police use "tactical contact" relatively often, in the US it's something reserved for extreme situations. Which this driver's actions qualify for hands down, admittedly. One hopes that the local County/City Attorney actually has a spine and throws the book at both occupants.

Out here in California shoplifting is legal, anything you want up to $950.00. Some thieves steel $950.00 worth of goods every day. Nice to see Wisconsin do something about shoplifting!!
It's crazy seeing people steal stuff so freely living in California myself, the no chase policy and the decision to use police manpower on something else....and then watching an entire police force play bumper cars in a busy shopping center for the same reason
