- We've seen plenty of show cars, and we've seen plenty of Subaru's, but we've never seen anything quite like this. A car that was once a commuter to school, has transformed into a show stopping masterpiece. In 2013 you would have called us fools for not knowing about this car, but since he's no longer allowed to compete in show's, the car now sits as a hidden gem at Alex's shop: Performance Auto Gallery.

Don't really ever know his finances, but you know, few hundred thousand in investments instead of on a show car would be around a million by the time that kid turns 18. The kid probably wouldn't mind having a million in a trust fund instead of a dad with a show car. I'm just saying, my kids probably going to hate my cars if they ever find out how much they cost ... but hey, they still get college funds and maybe they won't get $1mil trust fund, but they'll at least not have to worry about paying for tuition. More than my parents did for me lol

He keeps calling it an investment which is painful, vehicles are depreciating assets with very few exceptions to rare Ferraris, Porsches, McLarens, etc. Investments MAKE you money over time, expensive hobbies COST you money over time. I don't get the figure amount. Doubt it actually costs that much in parts. I'm thinking labor costs are being tossed into there and well...you know how much some mechanics, body shops, etc like to rape customers in labor costs.

Once I heard that it made me like the car a lot less. I don't even see how you can spend 100k on that, let alone 2.5 times that on the car. Seems like a lot of money wasted on a car that doesn't even get driven.
That's true but this guy had all work done by other people I'm sure there is 30-40k in the motor alone and the paint job looks like a 15-20k alone just got the outside guy maybe spent like 150-180k but not 250k
The clip system for the front bumper is really awesome, I'm definitely thinking of doing similar to mine. The whole car is beautiful and someday I'd like to have that quality too. Perhaps not a stripped down race car with built in air jacks but just a hella fun road car.

I have a gutted and half caged 420awhp 2005 sti and I literally fix something different almost every week. Subarus are only reliable until you crack open the engine. After that, things don't seem to want to work. If I could do it over, I would've started with a built block from IAG, which I might still do. But, I would say if you have something like this, have it in a nice garage and definitely don't daily it
best part was realizing the Maryland tag. Awesome set of cars.
This isn't how a Subaru should be. This is an incredible bit of kit but the true Ultimate Impreza is and always will be the one the carries the name "Colin Mcrae" on the rear window. Just my opinion.

I'm VERY new to the Subaru family. Never really been a fan of the brand...that is until I test drove one. I had to force the smile off my face before I got back to the dealership so the salesman wouldn't try to sell me the car. The next day I bought a 2017 WRX in black from another dealership. Since then...I get it. I get why these cars are so enduring. Anyone that can take a daily school commuter and build a show winning car from it has mad respect from me. Try doing that with an AMC Concorde (go ahead, google THAT beast). It just won't happen. Love the cars in this video and now love Subarus.
