This was the best video so far on this channel with any of the project cars. It's a proper length, you showed essentially the whole process, and the advert was at the end. Please do it this way every time.
It's so much better than just saying "we're gonna do X", then an advert, then "okay X is all done."

I do wish there was a little more technical detail. For example, they have incredible shots of Zircotec applying their coating but say nothing about the process. It looks like spray welding, but it's a ceramic? Maybe they're not allowed to, but then why would they let them film it?

I will say, maintenance is key along with how you drive your car. I bought a used stock 2011 GV8. Owned it for 7 years and am at 116k miles. I only went crazy with the mods two years ago but I'm still running a stock EJ257 and stock VF38 turbo. The power mods I have were done in relation to others that prolong the engine life. I went with Equal lenth headers, GDT cyl 4 cooling mod, IAG street seires AOI and replaced my failing stock turbo inlet with a Perrin turbo inlet with a Cobb SF intake. Also running Motul Excess 5w-40 oil. I did recently install a Koyorad radiator as the stock started leaking at top. I do have other mods related to running E85 w/ my stock motor and turbo but are performance related. I think my motor is an example that the EJ257, in my case, is making 350whp on E85 for more than two years and I daily drive it with no issues. I'm not burning oil, no knocking, temps aren't getting hot. I would abuse it at the best times for the car. Don't sit in traffic in 95 degree heat then floor it once it's clear.. Maintenance can only take you so far but it also depends on how it's driven.

Full 1.2 bar boost is available from 2700 rpm, from the magnificent TD04 turbo, and it means that acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear is ferocious, and the utmost driver care and attention is required, lest the vehicle gain the upper hand!
500 BHP would be nuts - and not very fun for a car with only 215 or 225 wide tyres.

Living in the Pacific Northwest, and with Subaru being the car for the area, I can say with certainty, 1) Subaru's are known for blowing head gaskets and 2) changing the spark plugs (and simple job on most vehicles) is a pain in the rear, requiring a shop to do it for you.

      1. If they aren’t serviced right, tuned badly, run lean, have uncontrolled boost, etc. sure. Otherwise no more than any other engine. 2. It’s a hassle but absolutely doesn’t need a shop, just some lateral thought, and a tactical loosening of engine mounts. 7 years tuned EJ25. Zero ring land, zero head gasket, in fact zero issues at all outside wear and tear. Tyres, brakes, oil, belts and a clutch in around 55k miles.

@@ferkle1980 Blown head gaskets are more common on used Subarus than anyother car manufacturer, and when you have to remove the engine to replace the spark plugs, the average joe isn't going to have the engine hoist and necessary tools to do it.
You can own a car for 7 years and only put 10K miles on it; it's the mileage, not the time that causes issues, like blown head gaskets. Generally, 9 times out of 10, if someone is selling a Subaru with 150K+ miles on it, it's got a blown head gasket; people in the PNW don't sell their Subaru unless it has major problems.

Awesome - I couldn't manage putting the 'Lego set' of engine parts back together without leaving something out but I guess the pros are used to it!

Is there a video that goes in depth on the Pole Position car? Is that an oil cooler on top of the intake or W/A intercooler? *I've had W/A intercooler on the brain lately*

I notice the standard cat is being dumped in favour of the straight pipe. Anyone who knows anything about Subaru tuning knows that the standard cat will limit you to about 300bhp. This was supposed to be a road legal build though so it's interesting that a sport cat is not being talked about which might be able to flow at 500bhp+
