Listened to you guys on the Out of Spec podcast on my way to work. I open my iPad at lunch and find the next leg of your video series to watch! It is Patrick and Liv day!
Woo! Another road trip! 29:00 I do love me a sit-down meal stop when traveling. If you're heading through Prunedale, CA, the EVgo (formerly Recargo) site is next to Sarita's, a great Mexican restaurant. I'm also partial to Spike & Rail in Selma, CA, where I like to grab a nice tri-tip salad.
I’m in Canada and got Blue Cruise free for 3 months. I loved road tripping with it but at $100/ month Canadian I found it to be pricey. I drive a 2023 Premium AWD ext range
Glad to know you always check-in on Plug Share. Very helpful. I suggest you consider changing your name/handle there to MachEVlog to promote your work. 🤔
Great suggestion! I think used to have Mach-E Vlog as my account name but I switched accounts at some point when logging in. I just renamed my persona account now since that is what I've been using lately.
Aw I love that! That's literally what we hope for, so that makes me really happy! Haha and I love your accuracy! We thought 3 videos for 3 days but that first day was such a doozy that it needed to be 2. 4 stars back atcha! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐Thanks so much for coming along for the adventure! - Liv
Accessibility issues with chargers, especially fast chargers which usually have heavier and thicker cables (non-Tesla Superchargers) are legion and I’m trying to wrap my head around how this happens, but then I remember that there aren’t that many folks with mobility issues in positions of authority to advocate for accessibility issues.
Aww we would love that! It was just the anniversary of that trip recently and I wished we could do it again! Great memories! A friend of ours down here is actually going for the cinnamon rolls next week!😆 - Liv
50:48 I have a 2021 and let it laps. I missed it tremendously on my 25ish mile commute to work. The only thing missing that I know from BC1.0 was the hands free option.
Yay! Another leg of the journey! Look at that darling Westie! Good to see a fire extinguisher inside Meow Wolf -just in case! So… you usually try to charge to 100%? I always aim for 80%, as I know from experience -as you point out- that my bladder requires shorter jaunts. Looked like 3 out of the 4 stalls at EA were available. Lucky! And with your Mach-E, no reason to plug in to a Hyper stall. We always have some toilet paper with us! Lessons learned! 2.4 mi/kWh so far, which is 0.1 better than the EPA rating. Nice!
37:33 The ratings for these chargers are always a bit hard to figure out. It appears that these 180 kW units are limited to 300 A, so the voltage rating would be 600 V, which is also a bit weird because most chargers are rated at either 500 V or 1000 V.
We did the same trip in a Premium Mach-E and had higher efficiency. As I said in our other comment, we now have the GT PE - higher performance but less efficient.
That circle K stop would be hard for me. Retired military with mobility problems. I would have to walk around to front of car and lay the cable on the hood then walk back around car to plug it in. Plus America is a fat nation and would have trouble fitting between charger and pole. They need a better design.
Your in New Mexico. I partially grew up there and there is no amenities anywhere. New Mexico is one of the poorest states and don't really care about charging or EVs especially since a lot of the residence live on Reservations that don't have a lot of resources. I did the drive from Denver and back in my ID.4 and using with Electrify America. I had no issues using the App in Wagon Mound. Also it is Wagon Mound, What do you expect. It is not a major city or even a bigger little city. I understand you are from California now and think everywhere should be like that, but when you get to some states, it is not. What I find funny is that My ID.4 made the same amount of stops that the Mach-E, even though the Mach-E, supposedly, has more range. Did not used to be shorter, The United States did not get bigger. FYI also Circle K is now owned by Maverik so they may be changing or showing up at Maverik stations.
If you saw our previous road trip videos, you know that we've charged in several other locations throughout the state. I'm not expecting Wagon Mound to match some of the large sites in California, or any other site for that matter. I just pointed out that it is not a great location because of the amenities. We've also talked about Baker, CA, having really bad bathrooms and a tiny gas station that gets overwhelmed by the number of people stopping to get gas or charge. I should mention that I'm from a small town in NC so I don't get where you think that CA is my only experience. It could be that there is a bias towards people from CA. As for charging stops, first of all, we are in a GT PE which has 60 miles less range than other Mach-Es. We traded the option of having more range for the performance of the GT. Also, as you may have seen in our other videos, we aren't about minimizing charging stops or time. We wanted to stop at a Circle K and we wanted to stop to use the bathroom so we added Wagon Mound. We make some of these stops to show people what it is like. Since we left California, we used EA, Tesla, ChargePoint, EVgo (Flying J), and Circle K. And please note that Circle K was not bought by Maverik. Maverik bought Kum & Go.
@@MachE_VLOG Your right Maverik did not buy Circle K, But Circle K's parent company is selling off most if not all their stores. Baker CA is not exactly a rich area Just like New Mexico and the town of Wagon Mound. The only reason there is a Charge station there is because they were offered money by Electrify America. If they hadn't there would not be one in that location. And probably not a good one between Trinidad and Sante Fe. The point being, you should be happy there is a charging station there period. With the Electric car market struggling, even Tesla, there will probably be more stations like these then the Deluxe, kiss you foot type you would like. We here how much better other states are but then why would you move here. I understand you moved out of Colorado and I thank you. But you mentioned you are from NC which means you yourself transplanted from NC to Colorado. People watch you and take your opinion as fact as times and also as advice. You realy should think about the areas you are in and possibly take time to think about things like, "Does the owner have money to improve anything or are they just getting by?" "When you live in an area with less then 5000 people and are reliant on traffic off the high way to stop and get Gas and shop in your store, are you really going to worry about what an EV driver thinks?" and "As a gas station owner am I going to have more Gas customers or EV customers?"
@@genematsutani4376 I don't know, seems like you are the one that is do lots of complaining. I don't think things get better by just accepting them as they are.
