      I got my Tesla and A2Z adapter on the same day in June! I’ve only used Superchargers just once on a road trip. Definitely a nice option but the station amenities are hit or miss. At least at a Walmart, there’s nothing awkward about using the bathroom.

    Nice to see the fully accessible charger, that is a good sign going forward.
    I used a local Tesla supercharger with an A2Z adapter the other day and for a fairly recent install (less that 5 years) it’s accessibility kinda sucked (I ended up having to park in a way that blocked off two additional spots in order to get a charger that I could reach to plug in to my Mach-E 😞

    I am interested in Tronity or a similar app but it appears they only support Tesla in the US. I'm curious how you set up your account for your Mach-E?
    Also, to be fair to Green River, it seems like the Tesla chargers there have even less nearby than the EA chargers. I will agree that it would have made sense for Maverick or the Flying J to have some type of EV fast charging, where there would be 24 hour services.
    And EA definitely needs more stalls at Green River, being the only CCS charger for more than 30 miles. I really liked your idea of building another 4, and then replacing the original 4 chargers. It's almost tempting to instead take an extra hour to go to the Tesla Magic Dock charger in Moab, just to avoid the frustration of those old EA chargers.

    How can we collectively let Ford know that the BlueCruise is unacceptable at $80/month? Personally I was planning to sell my 22 Mach-E Premium ER in January or February 2025 when my BlueCruise "trial" runs out, because it's not worth $80 to me, and if I get a Tesla Model Y (Juniper refresh hopefully) I can get FSD for $100/month, which probably IS worth it because it has more than just intermittent highway support.
    I love my Mach-E but have no intention of spending more than MAYBE $200 a YEAR for BlueCruise. It's OK but not great.

  • @newscoulomb3705

    I stopped blaming EA for Green River several years ago. Tesla is way behind schedule opining their Superchargers, EVgo should have put the Green River Pilot/Flying J at the top of their list, and ChargePoint has been rolling out Express Plus charging sites nearby for nearly two years now. EA should be able to take Green River down for repair and replacement without affecting a ton of EV drivers. The fact that they can't reflects more on the other charging providers than it does on EA, in my opinion.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  5 месяцев назад +2

      In our couple of interviews with the EA CEO we gave them kudos for being the only CPO that is actually tackling cross country routes. At the time, EVgo and Chargepoint were sticking to the relatively easy to install & maintain sites that are in cities. Only EA (and Tesla, of course), were even putting stations out in these tiny towns.

    • @anthonyc8499
      @anthonyc8499 5 месяцев назад

      My counter argument is that if EA was actually interested in being economically viable, it would take steps to expand its footprint in markets that have high demand for its services. Green River, Quartzsite, Ellensburg are all locations that EA had a complete CCS monopoly to itself yet took zero steps to expand and consolidate their positions. At least in Ellensburg, WA we have gotten a sudden influx of CPOs in the past 10 months or so.

    • @newscoulomb3705
      @newscoulomb3705 5 месяцев назад

      @@anthonyc8499 I don't think economic viability was EA's #1 priority because they were tasked with providing coverage rather than installing profitable charging stations. If profitability was their number one concern, they probably would have copied Tesla's Supercharger model by building half as many locations with half as much average power per stall but four times as many stalls per location. Even then, we can't forget that half of EA's funding has to be spent in California, which doesn't help any of those sites you mentioned (including Quartzsite).
      Also, as important as some of these gap-bridging sites are, they aren't actually as busy as they might seem. EA has some sites in California cities that are easily at >50% usage. If I had to guess, Green River and Quartzsite are lucky to be pushing 20% usage. It's a hard sell to expand sites that are only busy 3 days a week.
      My main point is, by putting EA on an island, we are setting them up for failure. We're even seeing the same failures with Tesla (Kyle's recent trip to buy a used Model 3 resulted in several slow, throttled charging due to aging Supercharger infrastructure and no other options, and it's not really fair to either. In the case of EA, even Quartzsite isn't the island that Green River is, with Blythe having several other (albeit slower) charging options.
      So we already know the solution: More charging locations from more different providers. Green River should already have five to six charging sites from different providers, and if those were in place, EA would have zero issue pulling down their chargers for repair. Green River should basically look like Baker, CA, where any one of the four DCFC stations could be pulled down for expansions, repairs, and upgrades. EVgo is currently upgrading their Baker location, just like EA and Tesla have done previously, and there were fewer issues because other charging options open to everyone.

  • @CraigMatsuura

    There are Tesla drivers going to EA because it's cheaper.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yep, depends on the area. Some places EA is cheaper and some places Tesla is cheaper. In Needles, CA, we charged at Tesla for 20 cents per kWH and EA would have been more than double that. At many stations here in Southern California, Tesla chargers over 50 cents per kWh and we've even seen some charger 61 cents!

  • @rick_n_tx
    @rick_n_tx 5 месяцев назад

    Why not just pay attention when you enter the different charging stations? You should be setting the example on choosing an appropriate slot for your vehicle - regardless of how busy it is.

      We usually do but it is also a lot going on. When someone is right on your rear, you don't want to just stop while you look for the best spot when it will actually make zero difference. Check all of our videos and when talk about picking the right stall a lot. Watch further in the video and you'll see that we did our best to stay out of the way and then we even moved early when there was someone that had a trailer.
