I grew up in Mississippi in the 80's, I ran around in the woods, played in the dirt, dug tunnels(we have small rolling hills). Me and my cousin would wake up and leave home, we only came back when we were hungry. One of my favorite memories is, me and my cousin played all day in the woods, went back to his house, his mother took one look at us and said "No" and locked us out. We had to wait for his Dad to rinse us off with the garden hose because we were so dirty.
I forgot to add, because your kids get to do something similar, instead of sitting infront of a screen reminded me of growing up, me and my cousin made "weapons" too.

This happens all over rural Canada too Lars. It's not just Russians. I used to go out every spring and clean out the ditches in my neighborhood as best I could. I couldn't do it this year because I had some personal issues. Regardless though, at least in winter it seems like people think the trash will just magically disappear when all the snow melts, but it happens all seasons.

I'm born in and live in the US. It ain't just Russians. I'd say 80-90% of people who live in the US litter as well. I've lived all over the US and have lived off grid in Alaska for 22 years now. It's the same matter where you go in my experience. People consider any back road type place where they think they can get away with it a garbage dump. This doesn't change when you go to the cities either, it's just that the decent people either clean it up themselves or pay to have someone else clean it up. Good progress on the house.

It's interesting to hear this. From rural Alaska also. From a very rural part of US also and I have found that this has changed a huge amount over the last 30 years. In the 80s it used to be common to find people leaving their garbage down logging roads etc. Then over time towns started searching for addresses in the trash and dishing out hefty fines. Now it is pretty uncommon to be honest. Of course the ditch on the side of the road still has a few beer cans and stuff but even that is not as common as it used to be. People go out and walk to roads picking this sort of trash up in the spring and fall. In my experience, actually alot better than it was in the 80s and 90s.

Lars, nothing makes me more angry! The one thing that was ingrained in me at a very young age, especialy when you are in the outdoors, LEAVE NO TRACE!!! Always leave the area better than you found it if possible. Whenever we were camping, my children and nieces and nephews knew there would be a final "police call" before we left for home. People are a$$holes. At least some of them anyway. The deeper you get into the outdoors, the farther away you are from people...

Hi Lars. We had the same littering problem in Australia until the 80's. Then Ian Kiernan started the "Clean up Australia" campaign and changed people's outlook on littering. During the 70's I can remember litter alongside every highway that we travelled. I used to throw litter out as well. It was normal. Then the campaign changed everything and it's rare to see litter and I have not even thought of doing it. Everyone takes their garbage home or to a bin.

Littering and dumping of rubbish happens here in Australia as well. The farm I work on is just near the first bit of bush/forest out of town. Not only rubbish but we have quite a few feral cats that have obviously been dumped as well. Seems it’s the same the world over.As you say though, not everyone does it and it has lessened over the years.

I could go on for hours here in NJ 😟But anyway what do you with plumbing in a crawl space to stop pipes from freezing . Here we usually put the furnace in the crawl space or circulate the warm air?

The house is looking really good Lars - very different to what I'm used to seeing here in NZ. I love all the large timbers you use. Solid.

For everyone else whose brain is hard wired for freedom units: 100 hectares is ~250 acres and 150 square meters of house is ~1600 square feet. Another great video Lars, it's nice to see an update of what's happening at your homestead. I'm curious why you haven't done something with the "Star Wars" domes, seems like it wouldn't be much work to dry them in and the space could be used for something. I know they're not yours exactly, but if they're in the family and just sitting there....

Freedom units? The USA is one of the few countries in the world that sticks with a measurement system that makes no sense and reduces productivity,

We live in a subdivision in NC US and there's a single, undeveloprd area connecting two larg neiborhoods of houses. People leave: bagged garbage, cipuches, a deer carcass, an actual car - it's crazy. Like who sees nature and that's they think of to do

Hi Lars, A true follower from rural Canada here. I like your channel and love the survival items you show on your channel. As winters here in Rural Manitoba are harsh like in your region some tips and tricks come in handy. Being ex military ( 23 years of service in Dutch military stationed in Germany and deployed 4 times ) gave me lots of skills, but I can always learn. Now to the question; Your 12 sided house is an awesome construction and to be honest I would love to construct something similar here. Is your house build from a plan, or are you free wheeling and experimenting, or a little of both? anyway let me know if you find the time in your busy life. You, like us here will be probably prepare for winter already as -50C temp's are around the corner together with lots of snow. " спасибо хорошего дня " GVR

Hi Lars, the house is coming along nicely, will you get outside finished before winter comes,?. As for people who litter, I don't understand their thinking, they willing to carry food stuff when it's heavy, but won't carry the packaging back when it weighs nothing, I just don't get it. It's seems everywhere I go in the UK there's allways litter of some sort, and from what I read in the comments it's the same in alot of countries. Thanks for the video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.

We have community orchards in my village in the UK with bins very nearby, it's has the same issue with rubbish. It's not just a Russian thing.
