    Frankie has been lip syncing since around 2000. The mic has a thumb switch to make it live for spoken parts during and between songs. Watch enough performances and you'll see the spoken parts are in the same place each time as there's no vocal track for those parts.
    His vocal is a digitally enhanced and pitch-corrected 'performance recording' (designed for purpose not an original 60s/70s recording). You can hear this particularly on the high notes which sound artificial, like he's on helium - those would have been recorded much lower and then dragged up to pitch. It's the same principle as the 'choir' sound on keyboards some notes are real recordings but beyond the human range they're extrapolated to make super high/low notes and sound very fake.
    There's a 2023 recording at Kiva Auditorium where on December 63 Frankie forgets to turn his mic off and the vocal track doesn't kick in and he sounds awful - cracked, gravelly and about 6 tones too low. The band leader then immediately fiddles with the MacBook that runs the vocal track.
    Plus other evidence where multiple concerts have been overlaid and his vocal matches exactly with zero change in phrasing or intonation. Literally impossible.
    The band plays live to a click track (essentially a metronome in their in-ear monitors) to keep it all in step , and the "Four Seasons" (hired backing singers) sing live.
    It's just an old carnival show, no better than Colonel Tom Parker putting hot plates under chickens to make them "dance" to music at state fairs. Enjoy this illusion if that's your thing - but if you prefer live singing, save your money.

      There's a performance of Can't Take My Eyes Off You from 2005 (ruclips.net/video/jZqN0qCQp6U/видео.html) where the vocal track used is mostly the same as the one used today, but it seems to have been transposed a half step higher since then. Definitely lends credence to the idea that these songs were recorded at a lower pitch and then dragged up to be in whichever key is best.

    Frankie appears to hardly open his mouth in these clips which works against singing because you need your breath and your lungs to be sure the audience can hear you. Frankie Valli is selling nostalgia and taking his audience on a stroll down memory lane. His audience wants to relive their youth through these songs so they don’t care if the vocals are recorded.

    We went and saw Franki in Vegas just last month on a trip to the US. He’s in his late 80s. He’s older than Elvis Presley would be if he were alive. It was a great night, fantastic atmosphere and old mate really engages with his audience. He won’t be around much longer, he’s the last of that wonderful era of music released before I was born.

    If I paid $300 for this FEMA level disaster area I would expect and DEMAND to see some serious pro-level lip-synching. I know expectations in the gigosphere are pitifully small and every decreasing and vanishing by the minute but to me nothing less than fully choregraphed jaw action is acceptable SO why does he look like he's chewing on a rubber washer? A random man in a diner across the street would be more in sync without even realising it. A broken clock tells the correct time twice a day. You wanna buy one?

Anyone else who wouldn't go missed great music and a fun time. Paul McCartney is still singing live and should hang it up. Or go lip sync. Really bad. Disturbing voice.

      An "honor"? 😂 He's not a Nobel scientist or deity. He's a man who once had one singular talent for singing falsetto. That ability had long left him.
      Now he's just an elderly man miming badly to a digitally enhanced recording of his old hits, and charging top dollar to gullible fans. Nothing honorable about that whatsoever.

    These kinda guys have big egos (that's why he still out there, I'm sure) and anyone with a brain knows you can't sing that kinda falsetto stuff when you're 60 - let alone when you're pushing 90. If people are dumb enough to think some guy in his late 80's is gonna go out and, somehow, sing these old hits it's on them, dude. I was working musican from age 13 until about 40 and when I lived in Vegas one of the "Four Seasons", Tommy Devito, was our band's manager. Nice guy - lived to be 90 or something. But you shouldn't have to be a musician to know some almost 90-year old can't sing these songs. This is not a "scandal". I wouldn't pay to go see some guy lip sync but apparently some people just don't care - go figure.

  • @bossdemon
    @bossdemon 2 года назад +6

    It could be mimed but it's not autotuned. Valli is that good. That's the difference between singers of yesteryear and trash today. They do their repetitions and they work on their technique and just like Valli did, as a session singer, i.e. high fucking standard, they can sing the same way each night if they want to. All the stage show pits in the West End play the same thing each night, note for note. That's the point. It's supposed to sound as good as the first time it was played to a new audience each night.

    • @MRPS3RFC
      @MRPS3RFC 2 года назад +10

      Frankie Vallie is great but you're kidding yourself if you think that isn't mimed and autotuned. He's just a lot older now. Used to be able to hit the notes and now he can't. Hang up the tools though, don't fool people into paying money to see you live and then pretend to sing.
      "Singers of yesteryear and trash today"... C'mon, there was shit back then and there's plenty of shit of now. There's also countless good artists back then and today! Look beyond the top 40!

      @MinaF99 Год назад +4

      It’s 100000% autotuned, and not well either. You need to get your ears checked if you can’t hear it. I’m sure valli could sing it at some point but I know heavy handed pitch correction when I hear it

    • @Clodhopping
      @Clodhopping Год назад +2

      It's a recording of him from later life that's been heavily tweaked digitally - /pitch correction and enhanced. To me the high notes are so squeaky, I wouldn't be surprised if he recorded them much lower and they've transposed it to the right key. Bit like when cheap keyboard choir voices are faked at the extremes (bass and treble) - very artificial sounding.

    Lots of singers improve with age but Frankies pretty old now...in all honesty there not any major gig you go to without major vocal effects on the singer's especially ones that move about a lot he's done his Bit in the music business ...He's still draws a crowd and I think the vocals are dubbed from old recordings pretty obvious.
