  • Well, this was my return to Bempton cliffs six weeks later and I am back here hopefully, with a little more success than last time.
    However that was probably my fault more than anything, being a bit presumptuous and eager to see the birds nesting at Bempton cliffs, I will admit that I was too early in the season to get the most out of the three days I spent here last time.
    But what can I say other than wow what an amazing couple of days I've just spent here at Bempton cliffs an absolute complete opposite taught I'd witnessed the first time I came, there were puffins flying back and forth all day, razorbills, guillemots, gannets, fulmars, and kittiwakes covered the Cliff walls looking after the chicks.
    Today I was armed with my Canon R5 and the 100 to 500 millimeter RF lens, accompanied by the one terabyte CF express type B memory card from Exsascend, who had kindly sponsored this video by sending me their card to review I'm trying out.
    I have been using the memory card from ex end for a couple of weeks prior to my coming to Bempton cliffs and I have to say that this card is completely reliable, fast, and capable of recording up to 8K video, not that my camera has this feature but recording full 4K alli videos meant that I could continually record without any worry of filling up the card or photographing high speed moving subjects such as the gannets diving and hitting the buffer on the memory card.
    Anyway, what a fantastic trip I've just had I would highly recommend going to Bempton cliffs around this time of year to get the most out of your photography and just to experience the whole area and the birds and the chicks and the sound and the smell it's the whole thing it's just amazing.

    Just another comment to add - the portrait of the birds (gannets?) with their bills touching, is very touching in it's beauty.

    Smashing video Ashley. Shame about the bout of mal de mare though. As an ex merchant marine engineer I can sympathise. But it is noble to suffer for one’s art eh? 👍🙌😀keep up the good work. I also took your advice and paid a visit to Gingrin farm - absolutely awesome - total sensory overload but got some great photographs, so thanks for that.

      Thanks, David glad you enjoyed it, yeh Gigrin is a great place, glad you went and had a fab time. Yeh I thought that, think about what things we do for photography, I have found myself in some strange positions and locations since starting the wildlife photography business lol 😁🙃

    I was there yesterday but many of my bird in flight images lacked focus. Maybe the shutter speed wasn't fast enough. Really enjoyed your video

      Thanks Soniad3241 glad you liked it, yeh min shutter speed of around 2500 upwards don't worry about ISO many programs out there clear it up for the most part. 😀👍

      Last two weeks in June would be the best time to go, if you're looking for Puffins that's for sure 👍

    Fantastisk video and photos. You ar using most of the time the RF100-500. I have one myself but i almost never can use it without the 1,4 and sometimes the 2,0 extender. How do you do it? Do you crop or can you gett so close?

    • @WildlifePhotographerUK
      @WildlifePhotographerUK  Год назад +1

      YEH, some are cropped in, but most by only 15/20%, the images are always a minimum of 4200px once finished editing. also use a R7 sometimes but shot this video and photos with the R5

    Would some Travel Sickness tablets help with motion sickness if you are next on a boat?

    Another cracking video Ashley, great quality shots too, early / midJune is a great time for BC thats one of the times of year we always go. We're the Puffins at NL or had they left already? .....lots of pills and patches etc on the net for motion sickness, its a horrible experience, but something might help. Looking forward to the next one 👍

    • @WildlifePhotographerUK
      @WildlifePhotographerUK  Год назад +1

      Hi Chris, thanks for the comment, yeh no puffins were spotted at NL, mind you it was very busy with lots of people around. yeh I don't think that sea sickness tablets would have helped me much, the boat was all over the place everyone getting wet but they seemed to enjoy it, been travel sick since a kid, but not experienced anything bad before lol 🤢 will take plenty of Kwells next time 🥴
