  • I have been looking for a solution to my hay rakes inability to rake even moderate thick hay. Seems to me that the angle at which it was raking was to flat and didn't allow for smooth flow of grass. Well, I engineered a fix. I had Wright Welding in Springhill, Arkansas cut 15 degrees off the mounting bar. Looks good, giving it a try this week.

Very good info for a newer farmer like me! Always great seeing how other people trouble shoot problems
    Thank you!

It was a "make it work moment" for sure. I worked as a machinist for 25 years, that experience helped for sure.

Tom, that mod on the rake "looks" like a very good fix. Time raking in the hay field will tell the tale, but what you describe there seems spot-on. Really interested to see how it does, keep us posted.
Looking VERY forward to the coming haying videos you can share. Thanks!
Hope y`all are having a good evening!

We should start cutting on Wednesday, dry down Thursday and Friday, hay in the barn Saturday. That is the plan anyway. I will post a few videos on our process as we go. With good weather and plenty of sunshine it should come together. The video doesn't show how deep the grass is really. I am hoping for 400 bales first cut on 6 acres.
