- If you want your lawn to look like a golf course, do what golf courses do. The law of diminishing returns comes into play with that statement but I am trying to up my game more and more every year. Hence, the fancier equipment and now the fancier sand.
If you are near Tulsa, OKC or Wichita and you are looking for USGA sand, here is a link to the Mohawk Materials Website:

"I'm a homeowner and do I really need the top level this and that..." The answer is yes, always yes.
100% yes 😂
That sand probably has a lower moisture content making it so it doesn't stick together as much making it easier to spread
I swear just one video like this makes me *want* to go out and work on my lawn for a couple hours, even if I'm in the middle of a hard part of something. 😎👍
I put 5 cubic yards of USGA grade sand to level my yard a few years ago. It was brutal work. Just me, my Gorilla Cart, and a shovel. But it spread great and levels the lawn well.
A few years ago I got the masonry sand and did the shovel and hand drag level on a smaller section of my yard - brutal.
The next morning, I woke up and found some spare 2x4s and deck screws. Rigged up a level to drag behind my lawn tractor - then it became fun and fast. The hardest part was loading the gorilla cart and dumping piles.
I could sure tell the difference the way that sands spread. I have a place near me about 30 minutes away where I can get USGA sand, but I am not ready to sand cap my lawn until I get the deep bumps out.
It's surely going to look nice. ⛳️
Just got 26 tons dropped off over here in Yukon,ok gotta get a top dresser rented and a tractor. Looking forward to it
It spreads better because it’s dry. Yes it’s better sand but it’s kiln dried. As long as it doesn’t rain on it before you spread it, it’s gonna be easy to spread.
I feel like there's s a way to make a DIY top dresser with a gorilla cart, a drill motor, PVC pipe and gumption. One day I'll find the missing gumption to finish the project.
I used to work at a golf course. At least how we dressed the greens, we would use the regular USGA sand when we plugged the greens, and sometimes in the offseason if some low spots developed. We used the greens grade sand for maintaining the greens throughout the season, just a very light dressing to make sure the speed of the greens remained consistent. As it was explained to me, it's designed to be put over a more coarse sand as a final layer. I'm sure different courses in different conditions do things differently, that's how we did ours (in Georgia).
Also nothing to do with the sand, but we mowed the greens essentially 4 times per mow, which in peak season was twice a day. One way, then immediately back over what you just mowed but reversing your stripes, then the same thing at a 90 degree angle. It was to eliminate graining so putts would be more consistent
usga sand love it. good work brother
how do you feel about the Sunday so far? I just sprigged it for a putting green as well
I cant believe its not butter 😂😂
That was a good video 👍
Hey I see your new style ventrac loader back there, are you happy with it? Think I should go for it?
I've seen several YT channels that have one of these and they love them. Matt @DieselCreek has one and @hausplans also does he's got several videos on his channel doing things to his adding accessories etc. It looks like a very good useful machine that can a lot of things very well! I don't think you'll be disappointed if this fits your needs on your property. 👍🏻👌🏻🚜🤔🛠️🔩🔧🇺🇸🦅
I'm in Arkansas, you know anywhere to rent one of those top dressers??
Looks kiln dried to me, makes a huge difference to how it spreads
It’s dryer
How much you charge to come to LR….😂😂
