I had the same machine but 2wd model. Handled best in about 3-4 inches of light powdery snow. Could drift a perfect spiral around my 3 acre field starting in the middle lol. Hold er pinned in 3rd and just steer where you want to go and let the back end do its thing
My dad has like a 91 bayou 360 has had it 20yrs now and its been Amazing.. he just bought a barn find 91 bayou 360 maybe has 500km on it and is mint condition!. Great bikes.
Thanks for another video rock. Good to see the channel continue to grow. Always wanted to find one of these cheap to beat around the farm for transportation. Seems like these are rare here. Neighbor had a 300 2x4 he beat on for years and it never let him down.
Love your channel, got my first quad Kodiak 400 2005 model solid machine, had dirt bikes all my life but I'm getting on a little 65 years young i bloody love doing dounuts on it, i can see why there is such a craze with quads cheers from OZ.
You could put done 28 or 30 inch wheels on that and gain a ton clearance and top end capability. Those were good machines back then brother. That's actually still a good machine now. A lot of people still would be so happy to have that machine. Gotta remember man, that's how ATV's used to be back in the day. They weren't these spongy, mass travel suspension 100hp beasts that everyone is spoiled with today.
I had one of those I flipped n broke my back it landed rite on top of me. Lol I don't give up I sold it bought a arrma kraton to give mi back to heal it's fine now I own a few other quads I still have a mi heart for 4 wheelers always will
My dad still has one of these. Hasn’t run in years, has metal in the oil. Would’ve fixed it up but finding engine parts for these are not easy or cheap
I’m ready to see some sled builds again I just bought my very first sled it’s a 90 Polaris 650 Indy none running hoping it’s something easy but if not how do I get hold Of you to bring it up to yah before I get snow fall
@ haha and a video can’t beat that! Flipped some wheelers this summer got a nice newer alumicraft fishing boat with the profits now back on the hunt lol it’s addicting
The big engine from the early 90's! Of course it has no brakes! (I found approx a little less then 5" suspension travel front and rear, hard to find info) with front hydraulic, maybe just needs a bleed? A shame you couldn't keep that Grizzly 660 you got running, to trade to your brother? I have a 91 Moto 4 250, it has such crazy low gears, but well suited to its meager 15hp.
Yeah the brake line is actually loose for the front master cylinder, not sure what that’s about. Shouldn’t take much to get those working again. The rear on the other hand I’m sure is sized right up.. I didn’t end up getting rid of the grizzly. I’ll fix her up some more, I’m sure you’ll see it on the channel at some point.
@@rockspowersports Hopefully won't take too much to get those brakes going, wierd its loose from the from the front master, maybe rubber lines locked the calipers so they bled the pressure off at the master? dual cables for rear drum eh, might be easy fix! I do enjoy cheap ATV fix ups, nice to see you working on your own machine for once, not much time to spare I'd bet! Look forward to the next one!
hey rock,i see you use rotella t6 in your oil changes.i use rotella t4 as it has the (jaso ma) for wet clutches additives in it.have you ever used that?been using that in all my atvs, bikes for 15 years.cheaper then t6
@ sweet big fan of yours been watching for little over a year , you thing one day you could make a review on it on RUclips or TikTok, if ur brother still owns his lol
Same... I'm in Australia, out in a rural area. No one sells their quads out here, and if they do, they want thousands. Or they're junk. Way down south they do show up for better prices, but the fuel cost to drive down and pick any of them up makes it silly unless I was getting a really new, good running, low use machine for under $500. And that just doesn't happen... Which reminds me, I should go look on the bike sales site again 😂
I love the kickstart option. Sweet machine!
Great option to have,
I had a 93 300 Bayou 4x4 …. Tough as nails and I drove the Hell out of that.
I had the same machine but 2wd model. Handled best in about 3-4 inches of light powdery snow. Could drift a perfect spiral around my 3 acre field starting in the middle lol. Hold er pinned in 3rd and just steer where you want to go and let the back end do its thing
I had a bayou 300, absolutely loved it. It melted my boots all the time but I had a ton of fun with it
My dad has like a 91 bayou 360 has had it 20yrs now and its been Amazing.. he just bought a barn find 91 bayou 360 maybe has 500km on it and is mint condition!. Great bikes.
That’s awesome! Gotta love finding mint barn find machines.
Love videos like this- good old marketplace finds and make it work! Awesome
Glad to hear some of you guys still like the old style test rides after I get them fixed.
Had a Kawasaki Bayou 220 2wd and loved that wheeler!!
Cool review of that old beast, those were a heck of a farm & utility ATV back in the day, nice big racks and geared low for hard work.
Awesome machine! I absolutely LOVE how you want to change the oil immediately. I do the same thing whenever i get an used machine.
Absolutely! At least you know what’s in it at that point.

I remember back in the day when these were big bores. Power house. This and the foreman 400.
Yeah nowadays it’s a small engine, still very capable today though.
Rifle season is coming up and that's perfect.the first 4 wheeler I had in 1996 was a bayou 220 on the farm and it was dependable for what it was
Sure is, 2 weeks away here in VT

I have more fun on these older ones than riding new $10,000-$20,000 machines.
@rockspowersports me too brother! Keep up the good and honest work. Thanks for making cool videos.
Pretty cool old machine. Love these 90s 4x4s.
Yeah these old ones are great machines!
@@rockspowersports rock solid. My current ride is a 1993 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4.

That's awesome! Thanks for the Honda update, I was wondering if you had any luck with the cv shaft.
Thanks! And that CV shaft is coming out today one way or another.
Kawasaki was good in old days
i never knew they made a lq 400?i thought the biggest was 300.great deal for $600 for sure!!!!
My dad still has one of these. Hasn’t run in years, has metal in the oil. Would’ve fixed it up but finding engine parts for these are not easy or cheap
You sure get some great deals !! I would love to have it !! It would make a great plow quad !!
I’d let it go for what I have into it.
@@rockspowersports Ill come get it I'm in NH
@ if I lived closer I would buy it from you in a heartbeat !!
The front end , like headlights and grill and front bumper also reminds me of the old Polaris atvs but also see Honda in it and Yamaha lol ,
I’m ready to see some sled builds again I just bought my very first sled it’s a 90 Polaris 650 Indy none running hoping it’s something easy but if not how do I get hold Of you to bring it up to yah before I get snow fall
You can email me at r.ovitt@outlook.com if you need any work done. I can give you my number through email.
The bayou 400 is a small tank for working. I love mine.
It sure is! It was a great climber on the trails me and my friend went on.
All the magazines back then referred to that as semi independent. I believe the Suzuki quad runner/master were similar setups.
Awesome video thanks man !
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet ride video. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Man, nice probably wouldn't hurt to change the diff fluids !
Absolutely! I wouldn’t be surprised if it had the same diff fluids in it from 1993..
Saw this one up on the marketplace Rock solid buy
Yes sir, probably be back up for sale but at least I got my ride in lol
@ haha and a video can’t beat that! Flipped some wheelers this summer got a nice newer alumicraft fishing boat with the profits now back on the hunt lol it’s addicting
Man, thats a good deal. There is one for sale in my area right now for $2500
There is a few around me for that price as well. A couple around the $1200-$1500 range as well. I can’t complain about $600
I'd like to see you make another video on this one, maybe adjust the valves and clean the carb.
I had one of these. There reliable if you replace the oil pump gear or they burn up the cam journals
Thanks for the info, this is the first one of these I’ve had so not to familiar with it’s potential issues.
The era of the "big bores" 😮😮
Pretty sure they called it a semi-independent rear suspension! Interesting concept for an atv.

One of the best machines besides a honda

I have used the T4 15w40 in the past but this time of year when it’s cold out I like to run the 5w40 T6
@@rockspowersports oh ok,so its good oil as well!!just asking!!thanks
Very nice for $600.
A few little jobs to sort, then it will be sweet.
Absolutely!
Got a 94 one in black still. bullet proof rigs
50th 👍! YES “CJ” RUclips LIVE on ur WKND rides!!
Hi from Milton Vermont
Is it rotella oil that you use ? Can be use with wet clutch atv's. Scored good for 600 bucks.
Yes I do used rottela t6 5w50 in all my personal atv’s. It is safe for wet clutches.
Just noticed the old volvo lm841 loader just before the yellow foreman 450, do you own that?
id like to see you do a build series
I’ll be doing one when I get caught up with customers machines.
@ oh, wonderful!
What kind of oil do you use for your ATV’s?
My personal machines I run the Rottela T6 5w40. Most customers want oem fluids which is fine with me.
You have any bayou 220/250s? If so could you make a video on one I own a 220 my self
I don't happen to have one right now. My brother had one at one time and we did a little trail ride with it.

Man, nice I had a 2004 Bayou 250 actually a 230, fun quad, no problems !
Is Rotella t6 synthetic your go to oil ?
I would like to know where you live so I can go riding with you. I got a Polaris 600 twin.
I am in island pond Vermont. I still have a sportsman 600 as well, I need to do some work to her though.
$600, wow. My area they would still want $2500

I would think you could get a lot of life out of this old Kawasaki with just a little maintenance.
Kodiak ate this things lunch….
Isnt the choke still on..?
She needs a good carb cleaning/tuning.
I had one and didn’t like the ride, the front end was to soft and to much body roll, my favorite was my 1986 Honda 350d 4x4
With your knowledge and experience, it’s a shame you don’t restore all of your atv’s . Such a waste..
my kawaski bayou 300 can go up to 40 pinned in 5 th gear
No way thats 3.7 LITERS….
