Good advice there. Ok a friend told me after he seen my setup on my splitter I should put these hose covers on incase of a leak, I bought them just have to put them on. He said the same thing about a leak can pierce your body so easily .
+STEVE ROB you never want to get hydraulic oil injected into your skin, the aftermath is not a pretty sight. This is why you never look for leaks with your hands
I had a very tiny high pressure pin sized leak, right at the compresion fitting, that punctured my thumb! My guardian angel said to wipe off the excess oil,and suck it out and spit like it's snake bite,3 xs! Saved thumb, but it stung like a bee sting for the rest of the day! A few years later a minor gave me a bunch of mining info, and in it was what hydraulic can do to your body,if it punctures, and penetrates or goes under your skin. Get to a hospital asap, and tell them what happened! If they can't remove all the hydraulic fluid, you could lose your arm or hand or worse, die from this! Read safety data!
Thank you. Very grateful for your video. Was trying to adjust maximum pressure of manual hydraulic press and this gave me enough information to work it out.
Hi Jerry, we have a similar unit. Initially, there was a leak problem but still working. When we had the leak sealed, there is no pressure build up. So we tried doing what you had shown in this video, but still no pressure buildup. Hope you can help us.
I have a 1999 F550 Altec Bucket Truck 39 ft.Its Older and I'm looking to remove the Hydraulic system/Utility body and boom and put a flat bed on it.I was trying to get Professional advice on draining the Hydraulic fluid so I can remove the Pto.I have Great mechanic skills and I've replaced small hydraulic lines but I've never tried draining a system and releasing the pressure of a hydraulic system.I would really appreciate any advice the Truck means everything to me and I'm trying to make it road worthy.Alot of leaks with transmission fluid and hydraulic.
How did you set up that pressure gauge on there, my dump trailers don't have any, one of them is brand new, and doesn't have enough power to lift a full load, my 15 year old trailer will lift it no problem, motor is engaging but it just won't lift until I take atleast half the load out, fluid levels are good, trailer is about 2 months old
my father has a hydraulic dump body on a Chevy 1 ton, it has always worked, now al of a sudden it will kill the truck motor if it is raised all the way or even if you put a load on it, it wont lift it and kills the truck motor, we changed the motor because someone told him it was the electric motor but still does it any suggestions
Hey jerry my loft gate is stuck down but operating perfectly otherwise. Just jams tight when try to go up. Ram won’t budge coming in just goes out. Is the lowering check valve stuck?? Is there such a thing? Lol. I’m work on everything but never hydros so newbie here.
I'm using one of these for a 1 ton mason dump truck and the dump is taking forever to go up, especially with load in it. do you have any idea of what pressure should be for one of these trucks?
Well i kinda pointed towards pressure becuse the dump moves relatively fast when its empty. its when you load the dump with dirt or sand then the speed is slowly reduced.. So i was gonna check the pressure, if thats fine then id look at other reasons. I just wanted a ballpark figure as to what it should be.
I bought this electric hydraulic pump to put to dump truck to go up it goes good but push the bottom to go down,it goes down really fast do you have any idea why it does that?
I have a dump trailer with 12 volt hydraulic unit. When I put a good load in it will not lift. If I get a pry bar and help it I can get it to go up. Do you think it’s pressure.
You need to put a gauge in line with the output and measure the pump pressure directly. Guys often overload their dump beds then complain that the thing won't lift. You need to look at what the system was designed for and what pressure you're getting at the pump outlet. It is possible that the relief valve is leaking or the spring has failed causing lower than anticipated maximum pressure. Like I said, the only way to know is a gauge.
hi jerry ... i have hydraulic pump from bachofen ... written on its label Pdp1: 20bar .... i think its not the operating pressure .... i searched a lot but nothing useful... i need to know the maximum operating pressure .... can you help me please ... thanks in advance
Hi jerry. I have 5500 lbs liftgate and the problem its giving me is that it doesn't fold by itself and also the oil is overflowing when i try to lower the platform at about 2' from ground. I already check the pump, motor, batteries, power, no mechanical issues at all. If you would help me out what you think about, greatly appreciate it Thanks
Hi Jerry, how are u ? thanks for the video, my problem is : Model: Zx55 Issue: when we replace the hydraulic pump with the new one(PVK-2B-505-N-4554C),the pressure is not enough only 100psi, machine moves slow and stopped , can we adjust the pressure from control valve? Would it damage the new pump ?
Hi Jerry. I am experiencing buldging at the second stage of a 3 stage telescopic cylinder after replacement of seals. The problem only occurs 2 months after the seal replacement. Could you please advise what might be the possible cause. Thanks.
hey Jerry..i just bought an hydraulic power pack, having trouble with the release Valve, i barely touch it and everything comes down too fast, what should i do??? do you think adjusting the pressure Will correct this???
Thajerry bskorner thanks, well... I have the manual and there is no info about flow and aparently they forgot to print a diagram, but on the part list there Is a hex threaded screw pushing one steel ball at exactly 90degres from the release Valve on the side wall of the Main block...let's say like the pump on your video and instead of the pressure gauge ther Is the threaded hex Bolt. Do you think this Is the flow control???
If it's coming down too fast pressure isn't the issue, you're allowing too much flow through the valve. Depending how your system is set up usually you will meter flow on the return side. On things like dump bodies that have a power down function a restriction orifice is one easy way. Or a proper metering valve if you need very fine control.
I have a similar power pack, but a haldex one from Northern tool and using it to run a snow plow. But it moves the blade slowly and draws the battery down a ways when I operate it. Would this help to make it move quicker with less power draw? I have a 2 gauge power lead to the truck battery (+) and am grounding to the chassis.
BSK GARAGe i'm working on a project at work trying to determine the pressure required to limit a coil car (lift) which has a hydraulic cylinder. it more complex than i thought, can you provide your contact maybe an email so we can talk more about this and see if i can get some ideas from you. Thanks.
Hi Jerry, I was wondering if you could answer this question for me. I was curious if I could use a Marine 12V Trim Pump on my 1979 Chevy truck Steering Box instead of using a stock Power Steering Pump? The Trim Pump puts out a Max of 1800 - 2000 PSI. My truck Steering Box has a max PSI of 1450. Can the Relief Valve be loosened to lower the PSI in the Trim Pump to handle my trucks Steering Box?Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.
@@TestDontguess Ok, thanks for your reply. Iv'e seen videos of people using the Volvo Penta Trim Pump on their vehicles with a Rack & Pinion Steering. Obviously, I don't have that set-up. Thanks again Jerry!
Does this kind of pump turn off the motor when relief valve is engaged? Meaning pressure is reached.. why does the motor still stay on and just cycle the fluid back to the tank.
Jerry, I'm looking at a dynamic self loading tow truck, the unfold part of the boom goes down and up really fast, the rest of the boom up or down and jaws opening and closing seem to work like they should. What could be the cause of the one part working so fast and other parts normal? The seller told me a screen was removed and that is why that particular part is going faster because the screen removed is allowing more flow? Does any of that sound right to you? Don't worry I have no intention of working on the system myself. I just want to know if there's any major issue before I buy this truck. Thank you

hey Jerry..i just bought an hydraulic power pack, having trouble with the release Valve, i barely touch it and everything comes down too fast, what should i do??? do you think adjusting the pressure Will correct this???
that depends on your system would be from the relief valve or a flow control depends how it's set up

Nope these draw a lot of power you need at least 2 batteries and strong alternator
I have 2batteries( 800cc and 1000cca) and a 80 + amp alt. My other truck has no problem and is quick for and this one is slow for some reason
That is odd you can try boosting up the pressure that should make it go faster

You need a hydraulic flow control valve

its pressure relief the motor will still run
