    What a pair! Phil is really playing the strings off of that guitar on his solos. I love to hear these guys together. They both play great licks. Even though they are brothers they don't play exactly the same proving no matter how related we are there is only 1 Phil Emmanuel and 1 Tommy Emmanuel. And that is with approximately 7 billion people on the planet. No 2 will play a solo over that rhythm line exactly the same. Maybe similar, but not the same.

    @snkhuong,
    The only reason Phil, and others, isn't as famous as Tommy is, as Tommy has said, they don't want to put the work in. In this case, the constant touring. Tommy is only a year younger than I am and has 1000 times the energy. But Phil is a great guitarist. How many guitarists would Tommy be willing to play rhythm behind? Only his older brother.

    • @keithwigley1256
      @keithwigley1256 3 года назад

      Well Ted totally got that wrong ..PHIL was more of a natural guitarist so Tommy had to work harder.. ? And maybe Phil didn't want all the crap of fame and the armchair critics that come with it..

  • @AdstarAPAD
    @AdstarAPAD 11 лет назад +2

    Phil is talented but he does not seem to have the insane drive of his brother. The amount of touring and concerts Tommy plays is astounding. Tommy is a workaholic His brother is more laid back.

    The main difference between them is that Tommy looks 10 years younger when he plays, and Phil looks 10 years older. Cool fun though, and excellent advice. You are there to make the soloist (or vocalist) look good, and that alone. Wes Montgomery's band were always great at that!

      No, he was doing what so many English speaking people do, trying to speak like the people to whom they are communicating with thinking that somehow they will understand better if spoken to that way. But this is a fallacy that people assume. They would understand better if just spoken to without the put on accent or bad grammar.

      I don't quite agree. Phil is definitely the better lead player, no question. However, I think Tommy is the real deal, he always was the rhythm player after all, I think he is the better overall player. But i suppose it's irrelevant, they're both fantastic!

    The French for some reason cannot speak English well. People from northern Europe such as Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany seem to find it easier to learn and on average become very good English speakers. It may have to do with the similar Origins of English and other Northern European Languages. French people seem to have real trouble with pronouncing some English sounds.

      Im so happy for you, first step in solving a problem is accept u have one. Now, with step one done, u should be able to easily find psychotherapist in your local area, who will fix your Attention deficit disorder. In meantime, u have to keep working on yourself on your own. Try always think, after forcing an attention on yourself, if it had a point or whether it just annoyed your surrounding.
