Filipino martial arts are really awesome👌🏾. Ive been studying them for about a year and a half now, and i love how quick and decisive the techniques can be. I'm curious to see how they could be applied to a fighter with a longsword or rapier. Basically, against an agile, longer bladed weapon where you can't get to their hands as easily.
This video is alright but a good fencer or hema practitioner would most likely take him apart. They will never leave their arms out like that to get cut and have the same goal of ending it as soon as possible and when an opening occurs. And they would never even be in that range he showed here to begin with. This might look impressive to someone who is an outstander but to someone who actually had a lot of training in historical weapon arts this is quite unimpressive.

Am I missing something? That first cut leaves you completely in the line of the opponents weapon flying in to you if the cut results in their grip opening.
Not really. In a real situation the swordsman wouldn't be in one spot long enough to get hit by it let alone be worried about it. Besides, it's real combat they're simulating. In real combat you get hit, stabbed or cut... period...
Well I kind of agree, but I do believe that the angle 1 attack the attacker just did in the instructor did on the first cut is to first step away from the stick, that comes with footwork and is trained using the carenza or other methods of technique which, after that he instinctively cut the hands on the hands that is the holding stick. If ever you think it doesn't work it probably won't if not used in a proper sense, as Kali (the Martial arts on the video they did) focuses a lot of counter offense and recounter offenses but has blocks that done to, but has a 50/50 chances and is risky if real blades were used, and yeah I did that also as sometimes it flies off and hits me but no worries or significant damages are done it just surprising to me it does that.
Also in combat while cutting the wrists or arm the defender will move while doing it and avoid the weapon's direction. They won't just stand there. This guy is teaching and talking so he is still. And even if the weapon did come toward you the power and force is decreased so much it won't hurt you that much.
I was one second away from walking out like a smile on Mary Poppins and sitting jolly Bulgarian Shotgun in Copper Pigger couple days ago. Couldn't be more peaceful than this to me at that time.

Traditionally can you use a karambit with the sword? I've been learning to dual wield with tomahawk and bowie knife, but Filipino way of the blade looks very formidable I must learn some of it
Assuming that escape is not an option, the sword user (or anyone with a shorter weapon) will need to close the distance and get inside of the striking range of the staff user. Most likely, using a parry, or grappling the weapon, in order to get past their optimal range. Smothering them in close quarters, ideally pulling a knife or using close-range sword techniques. Sword and dagger would work well for this since you can parry, block, etc with the sword while simultaneously striking with the dagger.
@@ThisPartIsAndrew it is an option, but throwing your weapon has a heavy risk-reward ratio. It is usually best to keep your weapon rather than throw it, unless you have a secondary weapon. Even then it is risky. And you'd better be very proficient at throwing weapons before attempting a throw

Really depends on the situation. A gun can be deadly at a distance and good if you are already aware of the threat. But as some RUclips videos I have seen have pointed out, surprise attack with a knife is deadly even to a gun wielding opponent. Key word, surprise.

Laaa e laaha ill lal laaw ( There's no God but the God) blessing for y'all
examples like this only prove once again that it should be law that all people have to carry and are trained in the use of a hand gun at a certain age (determined by law) , , , the gun is called THE PEACE MAKER , , , when every citizen on Earth , has and carries a hand gun we will have true peace and respect for one another in daily life , , , a guy with a knife might be quick , he may get a stab or a slash in , but in the end he will be shot by the person he is attacking or by a by-stander , , , just like the incident on TELEGRAM were a robber went into a restaurant , began robbing one person at a table and was shot dead by another customer at another table who had a gun .
Really depends on the situation. A gun can be deadly at a distance and good if you are already aware of the threat. But as some RUclips videos I have seen have pointed out, surprise attack with a knife is deadly even to a gun wielding opponent. Key word, surprise.
I mean a gun is most likely the victor, but as the other guy suggested, knife attacks are commonly a surprise attack, and from my opinions about guns, is that it's great but is not really accessible to a lot of countries such as england for example, and has prominent knife attacks reported every year.
@@dennisvillacorte4122 yeah man, though pretty much appreciate it if you tell others in here, why it was invented.
Peace maker ? Idk about that my friend. if everyone was armed with swords it could have the same exact effect. As an American I've seen A LOT of shootouts in and out of the ghettos. In Detroit you can sit an apartment at night and listen to the bullets going off. If it's a peace maker it's sure doing terrible at it's job lol.
modern arnis kombatan

I mean yeah, so what he teaches that is what he do, it would be probably useful if you complain to a elementary teacher what he/she teaches because you know that already, they do it to show others who don't know and I think this serves the purpose.
@@NiñoVincenFernandez the issue here that he say all those systems are ART and (usless) !only his system "pintados" is Combat ! talking bad about systems that you learned from is BS Mentality

After doing that you won't go to jail?

Are u deaf or something?? He said words that is coming out of his mouth. If you think his explanation was nothing new to you, then it's probably not for you but for others who don't knew, as there are a lot of people who are not you.
