Not to be that guy, but it would be much more exciting if the prerelease wasn't prohibitively expensive. Many of my friends are sitting this one out for that reason, and I am considering doing the same.
Yeah, it makes me sad. My entire playgroup is sitting out on MH3 because pre-release is $70 and these play boxes are crazy expensive, at least at launch. My group is used to spending around $18/person for a draft, so $70 each for one event is just untenable.
Man this draft environment look super fun! I'm excited to draft it on Arena. It just sucks to know that I and many people I know won't be able to regularly draft this set in paper due to it being double the price of a standard set. It would be nice to not have to pay an artifically inflated price for cards and package that cost Hasbro the exact same amount of money to print and distribute.
Printing and distribution are *always* a small fraction of the costs involved in producing the game. All of WotC’s bills need to be paid, not just those ones.
@@zurreal8087 you're missing the point, sets like this cost them the exact same amount of money to print as any other set, the fact that there's desirable cards doesn't magically increase costs for them.

What's interesting is that colorless behaves the exact same as every other color. It has its own mana symbol and it can be spent on generic mana costs. The sole difference is that it can't be chosen as a color when selecting colors (such as Mother of Runes style effects). And there's even a Mother of Runes variant that covers colorless stuff. Colorless is a color.

Has Wotc ever considered putting the archtypes on the other side of that that building a pre release deck sheet? I think that would be useful and always wanted that
Can we get a behind the scenes on why Energy has been typecast as a Jeskai mechanic? Like, I know there are black and green Energy cards in the set, but as you said, the archetype is Jeskai and it has been ever since the Jeskai Energy Fallout commander deck came out, but why was that a Jeskai deck to begin with? White was arguably the weakest Energy color back in Kaladesh, Temur or even Sultai would have made more sense as color choices for Energy as Kaldesh had the mechanic strongest in Simic colors, so why did the designers of the Fallout set decide to ditch green and buff white for Energy and why did the designers of Modern Horizons III decide to double down on that decision solidly cementing Energy as a Jeskai mechanic?
Hard to be excited about a set I can't afford to play. The whole point of collector boosters was supposed to be so that there would be a product for people who wanted to drop a bunch of money on blinged out cards. It's not the first premium priced set, but boxes (at least checking prices in Europe) are being sold at around 150% of the price of MH1. That's a pretty steep increase.
i was so excited to see your outline for the Mardu and Sultai combos because I couldn't figure them out myself, but,,, it seems like there isn't any?
