  • I hate Ableton, I don't really do synth videos - my normal stuff is guitars over on ‪@BenWalkerMusic‬
However - Here's Xtal, hastily assembled from the original samples and as close as I have to the original kit on hand.
    Samples -

    * The Incredible Bongo Band - Apache - • Incredible Bongo Band ...

Sampled on the world's whiniest S3000XL (the floppy disk also died during the making of this video, so I couldn't even save the samples...), at a deliberately lo-fi 22.05kHz
Roland R8 + Electronic card for drums
Yamaha TX81Z supplies the pad. I had a go at recreating the strings on it, but tbh the 'French Horn' preset sounds so unlike a French Horn, it might as well be labelled "Synth Pad 1".
Reverb - Yamaha SPX90. I don't own a Quadraverb and am a huge MBV fan..
Sequenced on the venerable Roland MC-50
Apologies for the fuzz on some of the audio 🧔

Any suggestions of what to try next? Otherwise I'll spend the next 12 months trawling through Tal Farlow and Buddy Rich albums to find Squarepusher samples...

@@bleepsandboops snagged one up recently from a sound engineer that hadn't used it for 20 years, haven't had a chance to go deep yet because it's a bit on the menu dive side 😅. But definitely has that "sound", early Autechre to...
