Great video! My son learned Mandarin using Rosetta Stone 9 years ago. Took him 3 1/2 years to complete all 5 levels and became fluent orally after that. Learning Chinese has changed his life. In the past 4 years, he has been to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tiawan, Beijing, Shenzhen and Seoul, Korea all for University study and language programs. He is now in Graduate school taking International relations and Political Science.

Laggie it’s funny you should ask because I’m from Northampton and the pronunciation of words like art, park, smart are similar to the Boston accent....
It's funny you say that. I noticed that my English accent (also from the UK) slid into an American one very quickly once I began studying Chinese. I wonder whether my mind went into an open state for new inputs as I learned Chinese, and then it accidentally absorbed the American accent from all of the other expats out there. The tough part is when at home you use American words by habit: apartment, high school, paper towels etc. The British equivalents are useless since neither Americans nor Chinese are familiar with them, and your brain begins to use the American ones naturally even when you go home.
@@eugene1317 Not really. I'd say Tagalog or Korean would be a bit easier for and English speaker. (I haven't tried Tagalog yet but I know a bit of Korean) Korean has almost the same amount of letter that English does. The only thing you would find hard is pronunciation and grammar.

I also do believe then if they did not look at him they wouldn't even realise. The fact that some Chinese come across a foreign is enough to have their brain collapse and be like no no I don't understand even if the person is fluent... happen to me and other people SO many times... but yeah it's ok@@jordandavis6709
This is great man- I'm American and my wife is from Beijing.. Honestly, she speaks better english than me! I really want to be able to speak to her in Mandarin, this is awesome tips you have given me!
Yep!!! That is how I am learning now. Also, that was how I learned Spanish (14 years and many Hispanics think I my parents or family are actually not American)!! This process works. Then, make some chat buddies, native to that language and you are SET!!! Good advice!
"I'm actually from England"... are you sure about that?? Sure it's not New Jersey???! 😁😁😁
Look at the woman at 0:08 :D
I'm not sure if she wanted to look attractive because of him or because of camera, but she nailed it!
PS: I think she is very beautiful!
and hot
Wtf not at all loser
刚想说:你牛啊,小哥,居然还有中国护照~~~下一秒就听到原来是“忽悠”~~~~不过小哥中文66666,对认真学习的“学霸”必须点赞!!!
your hand writing is equally as impressive as your tonality (the hardest part for a foreigner to master)! re: learning chinese from songs, you should probably caution students that tonality is affected by the music's melody, which i'm sure you probably already know. kids' shows/cartoons are indeed the best for learning. i learned english from sesame street and japanese from anime :P
nice video man.. really like your tips.
4:10 His British accent is trying to escape!
