Gas oven was preheating, would reignite one or two times to keep the baking temperature at the set temp, then would just hear clicking, but the oven would eventually shut itself off. Cleaning the little holes seems to have done the trick! I have used it 3 times and it has worked like a champ. Thank you so much for the video!
You’re a rock star! Have had my oven ripped apart multiple times, testing this and testing that. This did the trick! Wish I could send you some cookies that I was able to bake after this fix!
This seems to be a common problem with Whirlpool ovens. Had a whole set, fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher. Twelve years later, only the oven remained, as Whirlpool is garbage. Wasn’t going to pay to repair a POS, but found this video. Oven would heat to desired temp, then you would hear it click 4 times, ignite, then go off and repeat that every few minutes until there was no heat. Would put food on low rack, cover with foil and finish on broil, as top burner worked. This little trick worked, although I removed the burner tub, removed the ignitor cover and cleaned both out really good with wire brush and steel wool. Thanks for the tip. Hope to get another year from my crap Whirlpool then buy a quality brand.
Well after less than 15 minutes of my time, mine is fixed! After suffering for almost 3 years I finally can bake things and accomplish other things while it's baking because I don't have to stand over it making sure it keeps lighting. Again thanks so much!!! You are the man lol!!! I'm a mom of 7 with 3 grandbabies and I fixed it for nothing!!!!
My exact same problem started within 6 months of new! Had multiple repair guys out and they replaced all sorts of stuff. (under warranty) It would work for a while and then start not re-lighting again. Also - my broiler hasn't worked in over a year. Tried your approach and have had ZERO problems since. THANK YOU so much for posting this video! RUclips and fine folks like you Sir have saved me countless repair $'s so many times!
Finally!!! I've had my stove for almost 4 years and I've been dealing with this for almost 3 years. I bake wedding cakes and have a very large family, so I NEED my oven! I'm going to try this later today. Thank you sir so much! I'll let you know if it works!!!
Thanks! Same as many, I've been dealing with the same issue for a few years. She lit right up and seems to be maintaining temp. Well done sir! Mine is an Amana by the way.
thanks for taking the time to post. I have a whirlpool less than 2ys old with the same problem. I will be trying this "fix" too and hopefully it will work. You rock!
I changed the ignitor as it wasn't starting. After the change the oven start up and go to 350F, however in the middle of baking it couldn't keep the temperature. I hear the clicking sound and smell the gas but it's not igniting. I have a Maytag gas oven.
John Rogers Glad to hear, mine started acting up again yesterday and I did the same thing. Cleaned out the holes in the burner tubes and sanded with a wire brush, second time around it only took me five minutes and now works like a champ again!
I saw a whirlpool gas stove online for sale fairly inexpensively and it has this problem, so I didn't consider buying it. They say the broil works, but that on bake, it won't come back on after the flame turns off during cooking. I might reconsider buying it!!
My wife wants to get a new oven because of this same problem. Sunday is Christmas cookie making day I'm going to try this and hope she can make me a ton of cookies.
My oven won't even get up to temp . I set it for 350* and it will not get hotter then 225* not sure if this solution will help but I'm going to give it a try

Emory cloth works well on the ignitor.

Great advice! Different model number, but Whirlpool brand with the same issue. Had to buy a wire brush, but it works like a charm now!

That sounds more like a thermostat problem.
Try changing the temp sensor located in upper left corner. It wok for mine.
Tied this fix this morning! cost me $3.75 stainless steel brush. cleaned off the ports on the ignition.
Fred Williams awesome, glad it worked! Thanks again!
