Season 2 Episode 9
BoardMatt & Andy Talaga Video about Jedi Training:
• Star Wars CCG - Deck V...
I'll always have a soft spot for Dantooine Base Operations. Yes it's probably the worst LS Objective, but it actually made Squadrons work halfway decently.
I agree its one of my favorite!! didnt include on the list because it's not that thematic
When playing Profit, if you run the weak alien Han, you can use Bo Shuda and prevent him from being attacked. It's just one way to help protect him after he's been released.
you won a starter deck!! email me at fatttty@protonmail.com
@@fatty777 Awesome! Thank you!!!
Deck building around objectives is my favorite memory. A couple of these I never knew to full concept/strategy of until this video so thanks!
You've convinced me to build Set Your Course / Trench Run decks!
im buidling some now, Just keep on the DL (no one will read this ;) Im using it in my next match play) there is a really cool strat I havent seen done yet... where you use Strategic Reserves.. using the game text of SYCFA... pulling out Death Star Gunners from your reserve deck every turn, cancel a drain with Strategic Reserves.. Deploy Gunner, Use their game text to put them in your used pile (find nothing in reserve deck).. cycle, pull one into hand next turn. If you have 2-3 gunners in your deck then you have a 2 force cost control every turn! (deploy cost of gunner)
haha if that makes sense...
EDIT: on second thought... you only can cycle Gunners on control phase.. so might be a little slower, so to use every turn you would need at least 3 gunners in your deck
@@fatty777 I think you're safe, rule #1 on youtube is never read the comments. Let us know how this works out!
This was my favorite episode so far. Like the explanations and seeing the related cards.
I sadly have never built or played an Objective deck. Didn't play enough when they came out, couldn't find anyone to play with after college. I only really play now with physical cards with my brother and he's just really getting into the game. It's fun to build somewhat limited decks based on the cards he's purchased or I gave him. We hope to build objective decks soon once he gets more cards.
Don't stop after this season.
Thematic objectives are the best. I like that this didn’t go past Endor set, but lightsabers combat did seem like a fun one to try out.
It's so cool that people like you still remember this awesome card game:) Greetings from Poland :))))
Thanks for the support!!! never to late to get back into it! so fun
i played and collected since 98' until04' and then Uni and other important things made me stop and few years ago I decided to complete my collection of original Decipher cards need now around 60 cards to complete it :)
@@MarcinosGl awesome, make a video when you complete it!
@@fatty777 I have that in mind :), have you got them all?
@@MarcinosGl look forward to seeing it, yep first video i made!
Back in the day, I did not play with Objectives because they felt so extracomplex, but this video is making them tasty.
Carbon Chamber Testing was my JAM back in the day. My friends started running a Jek Porkins in their light decks, joking he was too fat to fit in the freezer.
haha
would have to put him in the chamber... oh Id say 5 minutes a pound ought to do it
I've had quite alot of fun playing Set Your Course vs Massassi Base Operations, they interact with each other well and they're easy enough for casual play
Fatty, great video! I also love the "You can either profit by this" objective, it is really fun to play, I did a deck once combining the mains with sandspeeders :)
just so mean! did you play deserts too?
@@fatty777 I decided on some annoying locations, such as the Entrance Cavern (force drain +1), Dune Sea (slightly worse Jundland Wastes) and Jawa Canyon (force drain -1 for the opponent). With the Jabba's Palace that were 4 exterior sites togather, with the Audience Chamber (with Tessek there) shut down form battles and force drains by BoShuda. Actually I was also wondering about speeding the locations deployment up by starting with the Insurrection and running the Tatooine docking bays: DB94, Spaceport DB and (shame on me) Mos Espa Docking Bay. It's a good question how to handle the mains: with Sandspeeders (mains as second pilots) + Sandwhirs or reacting on skiffs. It's nice to mix this two options :)
Loved Profit.... always fun to play with mains....The endor objectives were always fun but tough to flip. Thanks for the video!
Solid list! Really wish they would have released Hoth objective cards for both LS and DS
me too..
Profit was the first legit contender deck I ever had. I was one of those kids who would save up for a pack or two a week and didn't really have any mains. Then I lucked out and got all the Enhanced Jabba's Palace packs for dirt cheap on eBay. All the wimps from the Jedi Pack finally did something for me!
lol i love that profile pic. for sure Profit is such a powerhouse if they dont fight you, which makes it a fun objective, because its a powerhouse if they fight you too!
Looking forwards to the season finale. Your intros are amazing and love your enthusiasm for the game. Planet full of weeners made me lol😂
Nice video and intro! My favorite is ISB operations, and for a moment I thought it might be the #1, but blowing up planets is pretty great as well.
one of my favorites too just wasnt thematic enough
God bless Decipher for their reckless dedication to their own rules by not banning cards or adding errata (mostly), but by simply adding more rules and printing more cards 😂
The objectives were awesome though, as they sped up the game exponentially and were clearly explained on the card (mostly) to avoid confusion and rule jockeying. Freezing prisoners and training Luke was pretty clunky & obnoxious pre-Special Edition, and just like that the game changed completely at a breakneck pace.
Love all the videos, fatty. You’re content was exactly what I was looking for when I got back into this game. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these, I know it’s pretty time consuming. For that reason, I’ll continue to comment & like even after the starter decks are gone haha cheers 🍺
great comment, I dont know why the heck decipher didnt errata a few things at least.. would have saved them printing so so many cards, look at cloud city.. they print shocking revelations, but oops that wasnt good enough, so we need a starting effect to pull it... and then they printed interrupts in JP to cancel inserts, turns out thats not a reliable counter... proceeds to print 200 effects that cancel (sort of) inserts, so many examples of this.
And few errata would of made the game so much soother
and all those mechanics you mentioned are really clunky, and try explaining them to new players... I want to redue this whole game, each set, keep all the same pictures and cards etc
thanks for the support bro I realloy appreciate it!
Loved the summary of objectives, definitely need to try some of those out! Thank you!
Loved the video! Never got into objectives when i played as a kid, closest we got were some epic events and those got intense lol!
My keys for objectives are thematic, versatile, get you playing things not otherwise played without the aid of the objective, and good enough to at least play for fun. SYCFA is perfect in that way - it's perfectly thematic, blowing up Alderaan with the Death Star at that point in the game was impossibly clunky without it, it's a solid deck that can win games, and there were crazy non-flip ways to play with the objective as well.
i agree, so many cool decks you can make even without flipping because you can put guys on the death star and not worry (too much) about getting beat down!
I always wanted dark deal to work but could never get it to! Love objectives for the game. Thanks for another entertaining vid!
I loved playing Dantooine Base Operations & Local Uprising thematically. Having squadrons battling ISDs and Wookies retaking their homeworld. Fun times. Love the videos.
Here's to guessing my favorite: This Deal Is Getting Worse All the Time is on the list. And maybe a little discussion on if its ever worth actually running Dark Deal to flip it!
As a kid I remember just wanting to have my quiet mining colony and all just get along 😂. I don’t think I ever flipped it
lol "I've just made a deal that will keep the Empire out of here forever."
if you didnt see on you other comment, you won! send an email to fatttty@protonmail.com
Playing pre made Set your course for Alderaan vs. Trench Run decks was a go to for us.
such a fun decks to play against each other
Awesome video, just a quick note that the dark side Endor objective is deploy *Bunker*, not Back Door (which you seem to be thinking in the video). You can obv pull Back Door with the effect though whatever it's called.
good catch!!!! youre right :)
Massassi Base Operations - I recently got back into the game, and I've wanted to blow up the Death Star for decades. I was finally able to because of this objective.
I mostly play Premiere-ANH on Gemp so I never get to use objectives. Thanks for the video!
My favorite is Rescue the Princess. I use the Rogue speeders to get 8D8 and Leia moving from DS to Yavin quicker.
The only objective we had as kids was Imperial Occupation/Imperial Control. If we hadn't already checked out of the game back then objectives probably would have kept us playing. Now in the last couple years trying to get back into the game I've had two objectives on my deck list to build. Mind What You Have Learned and Carbon Freezing. Two others I'm curious about but haven't done the legwork for is Ralltiir Ops and ISB Ops.
I was really tuned in for the Andy Talaga Mind What You Have Learned deck video that you mentioned in this video. Very optimized and if you were to buy actual cards it'd be a small fortune because of the three LSJK in the deck. I'm poor so I can't afford mains and toys ☹.
Roast a random card. Poor AT-ST pilot, he's just trying to do his job.
haha he is just doing his job! and hes DAMN good at it
Carbon freezing is fun deck to make, i just always lose with it..
Rebel Strike Team. So satisfying when you blow up the bunker!
Fun video! As you mentioned, objectives gave such life to the game when they came out in SE. Very helpful in making thematic decks. Very hard to create a deck without one these days (for good or bad).
Wow no Hunt Down or BHBM? 🤔 my BHBM was the basis eventual DS lightsaber combat deck, and was pretty much “come at me bro”. Nothing like nuking Luke too, and then Force Field and Human Shield preventing him coming back.
yea like I said I wasnt ranking on how good they were :) just how much fun they are to play/pull off! watch your step would be number one, but that is the least fun objective to play against ever. Hunt down is fun to play I will give it that. BHBM is just broke too IMO
@@fatty777 I found a number of interesting mechanics with my BHBM that I transferred to Lightsabre Combat. Force Field was one. Human Shield obviously got dropped, but the look on opponents' faces when I played that on them thinking they'd finally hit Vader was priceless. Oh and Dannik Jerriko to put Luke OOP.
@@Mayhemerz HAha Force Field is a great addition to that deck, I agree if you play BHBM and dont just do the standard cookie cutter deck you get many points in my book!!
I like the objective that let's you play an unlimited number of Ghoel cards. Another great video. Have you ever made a video on the cards that the game playing community love but you think are actually bad?
you won a starter deck! email me at: fatttty@protonmail.com
@@fatty777 will do thanks!
Great montage! The objectives always gave you so much to start the game with. Even if you could not get them to work, they were so useful!
I try to make a functionnal 'Massassi Base Operation' deck, it never work great... But i have fun with it. And for 'Rescue The Princess', with the good effect and using droids, it's all too easy to make it and it's fun! For 'Mind What You Have Learned', it is my first light side tournament deck and i have it build at this time, in the office of my home, I love playing it, tracking destiny number, using it could be worse to reduce the lost... But one thing has change from the first time i build it: I don't train Luke anymore, I train the daughter of Skywalker, but i use supprise attack, and it's a winning condition in this deck, after test 5!
same here I always get beat down on Yavin 4...
Yea most people think Daughter is better to train because then you can have Super Luke or Luke with saber running around, or premiere luke if you are going space
@@fatty777 For the jedi training deck, it's the case and after training the daughter, i use Leia with weapon when i put her back on table and it goes wild realy fast with all characters with build in weapon
Love this, you hit all the fun ones!
Another great video fatty! Can’t believe ISB Operations didn’t make the list, it’s my favorite.
thanks! and one of my favorites too! just the ease at which it flips back and forth, and not really thematic is why I left it out
@@fatty777 Maybe you could do the Part 2 for this video, covering some other objectives? Hearing you talk about them is a nice inspiration, so is reading the comments under your videos :)
Great video - thanks for making RUclips a little bit better Fatty! Please keep up the good work 👍
My favourite objective while playing SWCCG has always been to get Tarkin, maybe Motti and a couple of troopers. out, arm 'em with Assault Rifles. and the simply crush the Rebellion with a swift stroke :)
SWCCG was really big here in Sweden in the 90's. To this day I miss the tournaments and the late night playing with my brother and my friends. Thanks for bringing me back!
thanks for the kind words really appreciate it
had same memories of friends and brothers playing swccg in the 90s! cant beat it
I stopped playing at Endor -- I don't really understand objectives but fun videos!
Episode 1 sets really whiffed with the lack of Otoh Gunga Operations
lol yep, just like in the movies
"We're going GANSTA" Eating the Fatty SWCCG variety show up like a Rancor at Jabba's bachelor party. Don't cut the beast off from those tasty Twi'leks.
I also really love Dantooine Base Ops just a fun as hell objective
Loving the energy on these
Bruh! Making me want to play some thematic decks!!
When is Max Rebo going to cover that golden oldie, Click Click Boom? 🤨
At 5 minutes you say that "Force Drains may not be modified by opponent" does not include them cancelling your Force Drain bonuses?!? That... that cannot be correct, right? Apart from "A Gift" I'm struggling to think of ANY way the light side can modify Dark Side force drains. I went and checked the rules on this and it seems that it might be a confusion between the "cancel a force drain" part of the clarification between the two rules. Canceling a bonus to a force drain HAS to be modifying a force drain, right? The whole point of this objective is to make your Force Drains so crazy they're forced to come to Cloud City and fight you. Its literally from the movie that Darth Vader's actions on Cloud City prevent Luke from just sitting on Dagobah training.
Please, someone if you can clarify this ruling please do.
Great question, seems like what you say makes sense! - when researching for this video I wanted to make 100% sure that what I said was right, so I asked on gemp, and that is correct. Canceling the modifiers is not "modifying" the force drain (For that to work it would have to say "Force Drains Modifiers May Not Be Canceled" hahaha).
So This Deal is Getting Worse All The Time cancels things like... A Gift (like you said), -1 drains from the Operative objective, Dantooine base operations, Projection of a Skywalker.
So sadly it doesnt completely allow you to do massive drains without counter, funny how sitting on dagobah and training does counter dark deal loll. but not cloud city occupation, fortunately
Here is a quote from the Rules forum:
Force Drains May Not Be Modified Or Canceled By
Opponent -
"May not be modified by opponent" prevents your
opponent from utilizing any game text (whether
declared or automatic) that would directly modify (add,
subtract, multiply) your Force drain. See Force Drain
Modifier for examples
This text does not prevent your opponent from
canceling or modifying your Force drain modifiers. Thus
it will not prevent Great Warrior, Imperial Decree, The
Planet It's Farthest From or A Bright Center To The
Universe from working normally
@@fatty777 Oh dang. That's such a huge bombshell for me. I've been playing this deck wrong for decades. Makes it significantly worse!
Why would you ever go to Cloud City to stop Dark Deal if you can just cancel the bonuses it gives? Seems to directly counter the whole point of the objective as well as what it was trying to simulate in the movie. Especially considering you only get that "can't be modified" bonus if you have an Imperial there.
On the bright side, it makes my Jedi Training deck significantly stronger. Not that it needed it, constantly drawing 7 for every destiny.
Never played this game but I'd be interested in that starter deck!
sorry bro didnt draw your name! next time maybe :)
The Premium Han is an alien, so he can make Bo Shuda work
❤❤❤❤ 🎉
Another 10/10 intro lmaooooo
It was nuts! Great song, great clips, great cards, great editing. Off the rails!
Hah! DS Lars's Moisture Farm comes up a week after I mentioned its macabre nature. Great location tho, deffo not worthy of a 🔥 roast 🔥
Yes nice comment last week! it is very disturbing scene/card!
Love the videos!
This deal is getting worse all the time is underrated. Lot of fun to play. and Court of the vile gangster of course...
I hoped episode 10 is just a re-upload of your Jar Jar Binks episode
lol damn thats a good idea
Though objectives speed up the game, it is prohibitive because there is SO much text to read.
you won a starter deck! email me at: fatttty@protonmail.com
Shame we never got a Kyle Katarn card as that card would straight up say "at the beginning of the battle phase your opponent's Sarlacc creature in play is lost". Auto counter to "I Shall Enjoy Watching You Die". Just saying.... 🤷
haha would be amazing
This deal is getting worse all the time is one of my favorite ds decks to play. There are so many different ways to go with it. Walkers, AT-STs, Speeders, Strong characters holding down sites, weak characters and a quick flip. Especially once you could pull 2 cloud city sites it was versatile. Decent in space too.
for sure, you can go interior with lifttubes, use exterior for AT-ST, ive even seen clouds
Running "Getting worse" with exterior sites is a really nice idea. With CC Troopers reacting on Skiffs + maybe pulling East Platform and Spaceport:DB with Insurrection. One could argue that I'm not allowed do deploy Spaceport:DB on Bespin (a gas planet), but technically speaking I'd be deploying it on the Cloud City that by itself could have been running a spaceport, couldn't it? Me and my friends decided, as a "house rule", that it could ;)
Its hard to imagine playing a deck without an objective now.
its a good and bad thing..
I won!
2 giveaways. Wow
Hell yeah brother. Ops were a plague when released so dishonorable mention to those objectives
they are so silly, and OP, OP OPS
