Great video. I traded my 991.2 S for my 2023 Boxster GTS 4.0 and have zero regrets. The Boxster is hands down the most satisfying sports car I’ve ever owned!
There is something endlessly evocative about a manufacturer cramming their largest engine in their smallest car, and you can't help but smile when driving it
Yeah. PDK is all the driving fun of manual but with the option to engage or not. I get the manual, see a lot fewer 3-5 owner PDKs then I do manuals. PDK owners seem to love their cars longer.
Great video 🤓!!! Last year in February 2023, I acquired my new 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 which has the 4L NA flat six cylinder engine (same unit as a GT4) and a PDK gearbox. Power output (394 bhp) and torque (317 lb-ft) are a nice match to this car's sensible curb weight (~3200 lbs). The color is Gentian Blue metallic with a black/chalk all-leather interior and silver wheel rims. It's definitely an entertaining driver's car! So far, I've only done 452 miles but hopefully a lot more this coming Summer! The PDK is also a lot of fun (it's definitely quick) 🤓 All the best and thanks again from Colorado! Hi guys, greeting from Poland! Looks like we have exactly the same opinion over this masterpiece of a car. Let me share my story with that. Last year I came up with an idea of buying a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 - thought that since it’ll be the last N/A flat-six mid-engine Porsche roadster it will rather gain in value instead of depreciate and its price point isn’t as ridiculous as the one for 911s. Also thought that it will be the great fun car supplement for my daily 2022 Cayenne GTS, which I actually consider as the ultimate daily driver. My local Porsche Center didn’t have demo GTS 4.0, so I test drove the Boxster T and actually totally fell in love with it and ordered the GTS 4.0 without even driving it. The car was just pure, condensed fun, I just couldn’t stop smiling while driving it, it provoked me to do stupid things and inspired my confidence. Couple of months later I took part in Porsche Experience: Porsche on Track event. On one hand I was happy that I’ll finally drive the 718 GTS 4.0 and see for what am I waiting, but on the other I was afraid that driving the 911 (never drove one before) will totally ruin my experience, will make me feel that I chose the wrong car and maybe eventually change the order. Fortunately it was quite the opposite - don’t get me wrong, the 911 is an incredibly capable car, I’d even say that its limits are way further than in case of 718, it’s also way more confidence inspiring, but at the same time it was just boring and lacked fun. The handling was incredible, but I just felt like the car did everything for me and I didn’t really like it. Maybe it looks different for GT models, but 992 C2/C4S/C4GTS/Turbo S that I drove were just a big disappointment from the fun standpoint. At the same time the 718 GTS 4.0 turned out to be brilliant - it adressed all of the painpoints of base engine 718 - way better sound, way higher power output and above all perfect throttle response and power delivery and also my doubts have been resolved - I didn’t feel the low-end torque deficit that I was afraid of in the N/A car as I’m used to turbocharged ones and didn’t feel the difference in weight, it handled just as good as the T model. Unfortunately my Nov allocation got cancelled and now I have one for Feb, so hopefully in March I’ll receive a car that will be the EXACT answer to what I was looking for.
@@BuckleUpShow picked it up on Friday two weeks ago, I’m definitely not disappointed 😎 Actually the circumstances in which I picked it again make me a 911 hater. My boss assisted me within the pickup and we went with his 992C2GTS. When I barely get into it, felt how harsh it is on the road and get out of it with even more difficulty I started to have some second thoughts that it’s not how I remembered that and maybe I’ve been looking at the whole concept of having a sports car through the pink-tinted glasses and I probably just wasted a lot of money, but then… Then I just picked up my 718 and it turned out that my memory works just fine - it’s way, way easier to get in and out of it and the ride is actually surprisingly comfortable 🤷🏻♂️ 992 surely would do better laptimes, has a lot more fancy image and has a lot more modern interior, but actually in regards to driving fun and daily liveability it’s just worse than 718, which is big disappointment since I consider those factors as the most important ones.
Got a 23’ Cayman GTS 4.0 a month ago and had to put it to sleep for the winter. It’s sitting there with 22 miles on it driving me absolutely crazy for Spring/summer! Great review. Can’t wait to take a road trip.
The Porsche 718 is great because it's still based on the 991 911 platform with basically a better weightdistribution with the engine-gearbox reversed turning it into a mid-engined car, ganing a trunk but losing the backseats in the proces.. The 991 911 is peak Porsche for me in terms of the right amount of analog vs digital and in size.. The new 992 is to big and to digital for my liking.. The 4.0 NA flat six engine turns this 718 in almost the perfect sportscar.. Almost perfect, because the way to long gearing kind of spoils the fun a little bit..
Ok so I always said caymen with manual, but the convertible with pdk is amazing. My mom wanted a convertible and she would not drive a manual. Went beyond my expectations. Something about that engine down a road in fall.

Have mine on order, GTS Boxster GTS, 6sp Manual. Trading up from a 981s (PDK). Can't wait.

Manuals have a higher resale

These are far more useable in a daily situation than a 911 can be 😊

Not long now!
Oh that is a tough wait. Break it in and then 4k+ RPM will be amazing.

It's a seriously good car, punching well above it's price bracket
I have a Python Green Cayman GTS 4 and also had an issue with a deer not so long ago. Thankfully the brakes are also pretty decent!
It certainly helped us 😅
Sounds lovely great engine
It's a jewel of an engine, especially in the market right now where turbos are the easy way out both for power and emissions

There's no bad version of this car
I love that 1400kg is lite now however the original boxster wasn't much lighter arond 1250kg and this has more power sound fun
It's very very fun
This was fun. My mom bought one and we love it.
You and your mom love the car, or you and the car love your mom?
My mom and I love the car.
great video guys
Thank you 🙏
No top down shots?
I think that gets you demonetised on RUclips
Wow that deer was lucky this has such good brakes
Should have been wearing a hi vis jacket
Open the top and you may feel differently
Differently about what?
