Too bad they nuked the Discord server and killed any communication with their playerbase because the dev team is a bunch of children. This game turned out to be the exact same as SkaterXL. Here's hoping a bunch of babies aren't in charge of Skate 4 like SXL and Session.
EA is in charge of Skate so that's gonna be a disaster too.
How can you really say the exact same…..? Like really. Don’t get me wrong… I’m with everyone when it comes to recent events and it is concerning but session base game is 100X better than Skaterxl. Love or hate the devs.

JL is a good dude but Creature Studios is a problem. These recent developments feel like the end of the studio. Nuking the discord was the a kick in the nuts for the games long time community. Hopefully the stink of the devs choices doesn’t affect him going forward. JL doesn’t deserve to be dragged into all this mess.

At the end of the day it's all about positioning yourself.. of course there's bills that need to be paid interfering with ones own principles, but bottom line we're making our own choices - so does JL. As far as i can tell he keeps his integrity with the community as of now (i wasn't home all day so i missed most of what might have happened today) while doing his job for crea-ture and of course cannot fall into their backs.. It's a tough balance act i am sure, but it's his choice.

As someone with over 1200 hours on this game over the last 5 years, I’m getting really fed up with update after update and overpriced dlc after overpriced dlc being released and yet there’s still so many broken features.
Things that are still broken:
1. Late shoves don’t work unless you have sync scoop/flip off
2. The board to body distance is way too far when doing late flips and Ollie north/south
3. Manual catch is still pretty wonky
4. Input speed setting for scoop speed doesn’t work properly
5. Grind mechanics have degraded. Directional pop used to allow you to do just about any grind into any other grind but now it’s much more limited.
6. It’s way too easy to break a lot of mechanics when adjusting advanced settings (for example, board clipping through feet if you don’t have the exact right settings)
7. Missions are still super buggy
8. Sync scoop/flip turned off is still super funky and the tricks usually look ridiculous (for example tre flips)
9. Animations still look pretty clunky (I’m aware the animator left a long time ago but come on, is it really that hard to find a replacement for such an important feature?)
10-100. The list goes on and on. I don’t expect this game to be perfect and appreciate how small the studio is, but we were promised more than what we have and I’m getting really tired of this.

@Tryingtogetgoodatjazz It should be, but they aren't because they're a bunch of children who are too afraid to listen to constructive criticism. They're more concerned with putting out mediocre paid DLCs than listening to their community. Sure, they 'fixed' the bounce issue this update, but modders have told them exactly how to do so in the past and yet it took them how many years to implement? They're lazy, they're childish, they deserve all the hate they're getting right now. Shame.

I have nothing against you JL, you have always been a part of the community and kept us going when Creature went silent. That being said Creature has really shown their true colors as tone-deaf, greedy liars. The game died when Nacon came in and Mah left. Now I'm hearing rumors about Vic being the reason for Mah leaving. Would make sense why there has been no progress with gameplay fixes since Vic is the main coder of Session.
The devs aren't blameless, but Nacon is absolutely the real enemy here. They fucked up several of their other dev studios, like KT Racing, responsble for the WRC games and the disaster of TDU Solar Crown. I hear they're being sued in French Ministry of Labour by several of their studios.

Nacon just keeps on adding to their awful reputation.
Dam I’m surprised with all the hate in the comments. But I play on ps5 so I don’t know about discords and nuking the game like everyone is sayin. I don’t even know what that means lol. I love this game I just throw on some music and skate. It’s a fun little get away. And they added some cool new clothes and loving the new map too. If anything to complain about is the lack of character customization. Pretty wild there is none and only 2 haircuts lol. Why doesn’t anyone mention that ever?
I’m with you. My main issue is with hats. When you wear them it makes you bald and the hat literally floats on your head. It looks so goofy
Yeah it’s horrible. The same 2 hairstyles since alpha. Basically to sum it up though, they haven’t provided any actual updates for awhile. There also were some experimental features that got removed and don’t seem to be getting added back, most notably grab tricks. They also released the game into 1.0 calling it a full completed game, but still hadn’t fixed very noticeable bugs that should have been fixed like the fact that goofy just straight up doesn’t work on top of some other jankiness. It was pretty obvious they only did a full release to start releasing paid DLC. The games really fun, I have like 400 hours on it, but they’ve pretty much abandoned it at this point leaving a bunch of promises unfulfilled.
the menus are dead for the joysticks. horrendous UX.
the crazy part is that the premade skaters all have cool models with unique items (tattoos and hats w/ hair etc) - why the hell don't they just lift those assets and add them to the shop for custom characters?
finally fixed bounce glitch only took like what 2 years?? 😂
This is really small but I found it amusing. He made the point about some of the numbers for sliders being 1 - 20 and some being 0 - 100 in increments of 5. The thing is...that's still 20 "clicks/ticks". Maybe the actual numbers make a difference behind the scenes with programming, but to the user it's exactly the same.
Session: Bringing true goofy since Jan 2020 (at a minimum, that's when i joined)... i believe it when i see it, nothing personal JL.
Keep up the great updates coming i can't wait for the future of this game hands down my fav skating game

Its honestly insane that it takes them so long to complete some basic fixes, then hype it up as if you've made some real progress, and then this is all we get. And then at the same time another map that we have to pay for, meanwhile you've done almost nothing to improve the game wheres some animations for hopping on your board anything like that would be far more well recieved. I backed this game from the very start of the kickstarter and I didn't even recieve the things I was supposed to (T-shirt) and have attempted to communicate multiple times and I get nothing at all, I've really begun to lose all faith in this company. And now I'm seeing comments here saying they deleted the discord wtf are these guys doing? It seems like they're just milking it for all the money they can get with all these paid maps and dont give a shit about what the players want.

I'm not sure if this is a known thing, or even something that anybody has seen happened often enough. However every so often on ps4 version for me at least, I'll go to do a grind not quite have the right angle and technically miss the curb, rail etc. However instead of just rolling away or anything sometimes the character will just "grind" the ground, it seems more possible to happen during Noseslides or Crooks, now on mentioning this, my ps4 itself is rather old and does often struggle to play even basic games so this could be an issue on my own end. But I figure I'd at least mention it just in case it is something others have experienced too.
Edit: oh and I have Manual Catch on, Casual Grind Mode Off, and Grind Aligment set to 20
No this also happens on PC.

Yikes the amount of moaning. Session is the best skateboarding game available, still. The new map is beautiful and the skating is feeling smoother than ever. The fixes really made a huge difference. I’m still obsessed with the game and can’t wait for what’s next.

The kinked rail stuff is not really a thing tbh. With the proper adv stats we could have something alike. And yes, it's even a bit better now. It's not a game changer.

I'll be honest with you... I like their choice to drop unreal 5 and focus on improving the game.
I think it's good that they drop the complaints without any filtering. Discord is just noise most of the time. They would lose focus, so they are taking a bold approach here for the game that they imagine. That's good... They have to give something rather than trying to fix everything each person request.
Are we ever going to get proper animations? I know they went to full release with the publisher to start making proper money and it makes sense that DLC maps are a priority for that but it really breaks immersion so hard when you get off your board for anything. It's unreal engine which surely means they can just use the default running animations right? I've seen people making games from scratch in unreal and they can just use the running that is in Fortnite so surely it can be improved quickly on that front but also I'm desperate for an animation getting on and off the board. Skate 2 had it 15 years ago, surely it's not that much of a task?! If I'm wrong please let me know why because I really just don't get it 😅

Thanks for the fixes and clothing. Hopefully I can play the story on PC again one day. That item is still locked.
Go to the apartment and create a second skater, that’s how you play the story again. All money, inventory and historical challenge progress carry over to every skater.
What item is locked?
@@JLNightmare The metal police barrier for the Ribsman mission. It is positioned way too close to the wall so when I moved it back I went too far and now it's behind the wall and I can't get it out. It's still there when I create a new skater. Erasing app folder/object placement does nothing. I switch between devices so that's why I can't move it I guess. Unless there's a way to change the mission so you have to use your own metal barrier, or something.
Ok, so you will need to delete a specific save file to reset world Object placements.
On your PC in File Explorer, go to this location:
%localappdata%\sessionGame\Saved\SavedGame
(Copy and paste that in the top Left bar, not search.. and make sure Session is Closed)
Delete the ObjectPlacementSave file.
That should reset all world objects, then launch Session.
Will Session ever become online?
We’ve been so patient, and supportive with this entire project but still feels like they promise us 10 things we want, give us about 3 of those and palm us off with another bs dlc map the size of a backyard 🤦🏼♂️

Nah they were 100% legit while I was standing in the schoolyard. Happened a few times but I only left 2 in the video cause those ones happened at important moments. I don’t pause the game when I talk unless I’m specifically needing the menus

They just released an update which makes the game feel better in every way, but we're supposed to hate them now because they decided that moving their physics engine-dependent game onto a newer, considerably more resource-hungry, physics engine was a dumb idea, and that the devs were spending too much time on Discord. Naturally, the people who enjoy spending time on Discord are up in arms about it, but their predictably co-ordinated response isn't doing much to improve their reputation among those of us who consider people who enjoy spending any kind of time on Discord to be only marginally less incomprehensible than people who enjoy spending their time on LinkedIn. As for the Switch version, who cares? The Switch version was and is always going to be a bit of a joke, given that the game is pretty much unplayable without analog triggers. How you going to bring analog triggers to the Switch? By the Power of Community? Sheesh.
They are fixing like one of the top 3 complains which is goofy stance and people are complaining they aren't doing anything. No wonder they call them toxic.

Session on Unreal Engine 5 will be awesome. My Session experience have been amazing, love this game. During the time when I used to play Tony Hawks games and I thought if they ever going to make a game that is hyper life like. Session have definitely delivered it. Hey JL Nightmare, it will be amazing if we can get New Jersey lever from Tony Hawks Underground. Is there any chance in that?
