if you tap the stitch line with a mallet, firm but not hard enough to dent the leather. It will straighten and set the in the leather. Thanks for all the great videos!
Some more tips: • don't pull too strongly on your threads or you may get ripples in your leather; • always repeat the same exact movements with each stitch: if you go right hand first then left, keep doing that throughout the whole line.
I'm happy to report that not only was this helpful but I used this on modified bike tires for post apoc hip armor. I still need to make the second piece of armor but i'm very happy with how it came out. Thanks Cl3ver
Great video, this is a definite good idea for people new to leathercraft. Since the thread is synthetic, you can hit the cut ends with a lighter or zapper and rub them into the stitch line to ensure they don't unravel or come loose.
Thank you so much! I have a Knife sheath that has been stitched terribly and lazily by some factory worker. I’m going to restitch it myself before I cut through it accidentally.
I'm pretty sure it literally never occurred to me to used two needles at once to sew something. This is either genius, or some sort of devilry. I'll have to give it a try. Why stab my finger with one needle when I could stab it with two? Brilliant! XD
Don't forget--you can stab ONE finger from EACH hand as well. 😂 I'm definitely just adding a lil' laugh to your already comedic comment...with love, of course. I can't wait to get my leather kit in the mail. I'm prepared to do some wholesome repairs to some items that have been waiting. ❤
This method was a fail for me. When I passed the the needle through the hole that had already had the thread pulled through from the other needle, I would often put the needle through the thread itself, causing chaos as I tried, and failed, to tighten the threads.
Thanks for the video. It would have been helpful to do a few stitches for us, instead of just one so we don't have to keep rewinding to watch the most crucial part.
Don't know why you though it would be smart to skip the first steps you took as you can clearly see you had already threaded the needle through the leather before you even began stating what the first step was. As what I can see is you took the left needle and threaded it through the second hole in the leather AND then took the right needle and went through the first hole to begin the whole process. Doesn't make ANY sense to start giving instructions after you've already completed steps like I'm just supposed to know that I was supposed to that.
I prefer the steps to be in order too but the first step is pretty generic to any stitch so it kinda makes sense to show the actual stitch first. it seems fair to expect to watch the whole video first, seeing as it's only 2min. the thing you wanted was literally 10 seconds later and it was shown in full. (i'm not knocking your attention span btw, I have ADHD and things like this get me all the time. but you gotta have a little perseverence when someone's educating you for free I think)
SO, just backstitch and saddle stitch with a cross tetherinamatsaphrabistam? What!!!!!! This is so unclear, how did you manage to make putting string through leather incomprehensible!!!

Wow, that thread locking trick is great, never thought of that, I'll use ot somehow in the future on somthing. Thanks.

Saved a ton on a new leather messenger bag because the handle thread split. $5 in supplies and this video did the trick. Thank you
Always wondered how those worked, thank you!!!

Same reason i found video lol
Love your videos!!!! Keep 'em coming
I Love your videos Mr.CL3V3R your videos have made my next project possible dnd teifliing cosplay that wears leather armor
I like that needle fastening tip!
Great video! I was able to pick it up really easily. "Locking" the thread has been super helpful too!

Best video I have ever seen on this topic. Quick, straightforward, easy to understand and follow. Thank you!
Great idea for a video! Definitely helpful. Maybe do ones on other widely used stitches too
Very clear,concise directions!
Perfect 😊❤
Great quick skill 😁👌 wondering in what project you will use that skill in future.
You should make the stitching pony. Like a short vid or add onto the beginning of another leather project.
thanks
what size thread and needle did you use?
Thank you!
Very cool 😀
second to 1st hole? that same as the hole before your 3rd or what?
How do you determine length of thread?
can you please please do something with chainmail again, I loved your coif video, maybe you could finish it?
How do you know the lenght of thrad needed ? :o
Usually, you measure the length to be stitched, and multiply that by three. I'm no expert, that's just what I've read before.
Are both needles on the same thread???
Yes! On opposite ends
how thick is the tread?
Instructions unclear. I have made a toaster now
Sorry didn’t understand it

Make slightly bigger holes, it should help.
Be careful everyone!
I tried this tutorial and my knife sheath turned into a horse saddle, 11/10 if you need gear for a war pony.
A common side effect, shame on me for not warning the general populous...

So many videos on the saddle stitch, but NONE OF THEM SHOW HOW TO START IT IN THE FIRST PLACE...😢

Yeah that threw me off he said first put the needle thru the right side but already had a thread thru it

Wonder detailed instructions, that makes it seem like even my dumbass could do it haha
thank you
For the sew is a bit fast

This video is unclear, don’t shoot the clip too short and too fast
Doesn't work!
I'm reporting this
Lol. What doesn't work? Saddle stitching?
