I love this guy. His passion for his craft is infectious. I'm new to leathercraft and these videos are so well explained. I'm learning a lot.
Thank you so much!
This is my second year doing leather working and i always come to these videos for new ideas and to learn new stuff. Chuck is the best!
Word. This guy is outstanding.
He explains real good
It's obvious his passion for teaching and sharing what he knows is as strong as his passion for the craft itself.
"In a perfect world, the chisel will drop straight through and match the lower groove. I don't live in that world, so..." Chuck is a national treasure! Thank you for all of the amazing videos.
This guy’s energy is unmatched, i love it. Thanks for teaching! I just stitched my first project.
It would be helpful when you teach the hand stitching to talk about the stitching pony. Us "newbies" need all the information. Chuck, you really are a great teacher - thanks so much.
with the amount of energy this guy has, I don't even need to drink my coffee in the morning. love the passion and enthusiasm
Chuck is the "Shamwow" guy of leather. Awesome enthusiasm.
I wish to be this happy one day.
I love using square know to tie off the end. It just gives me piece of mind that it will stay. Also, when I feel like backstitching, I do it at the beginning as well so that way at least there is some consistency or symmetry to the look.
You are an incredible teacher! Thank you, Sir!
You know, you’re brilliant. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and the tips are most invaluable.
Chuck your an excellent teacher, love your enthusiasm, really inspiring, looking forward to more videos from you, thanks.
You’re a blast to watch Chuck! I’m just starting to learn leather crafting and you seem to be the best source I’ve found. Thanks for this.
Thank You Chuck, that was very informative, great job on teaching!
What a great video! Trying to learn to do my first leather project, and I feel so much more prepared and confident!
I wish I would have watched your sewing video years ago when I started. Very easy compared to what I do.
Great video. I like the way you explain every little detail and why.
Hes an Amazing guy!, and love it when his beautiful wife comes on too! They make a great team. He guides you through everything he does. My fav.
This is by far one of the most helpful and inspiring series. I just picked up a starter set and look forward to getting scrap leather to practice before I start a project
I have been making many leather items and watched some of his videos and learned so much, like how i havent actually finished my stuff from not edging, and how to do corner stitching. Thank you guys!
Thank you so much for helping me learn my first stitch! You are a wonderful teacher and I love how encouraging and engaging you are. I'm inspired by you!
This seems such an easier way to saddle stitch, I've seen others where they show the needles going through the leather separately but this seems so much more intuitive
Simply brilliant. I learned so much from this video. Thank you!
Hand stitching along with some soothing music can be therapeutic!
Thank you for giving out some of the trade tricks it really helps out
Your videos are a godsend for beginners. Please keep making ‘em.
Always great watching Chucks videos. Learn something everytime. 👍
Thanks I followed your directions for switching. Work looks good only basic tools just cut make as straight a line as I can.
this guy could literally sell me anything and i would be so excited about it! love him!
I've seen some videos about saddle stitching and this one is definately the best of all. A lot of helpful info and really classy craftmanship
Thank you so much!
These videos are so good. Chuck is the man.
I worked in wildland firefighting for 28 years, with the BLM, Forest service, and Montana Department of State Lands. I started in 1988 as a young man. I bought my first pair of smoke jumpers in 1994, and my second pair in 2000. Not that I needed a sec pair but I wanted one. In that time, inwore them as well in my second job as a miner and equipment operator. I had new soles put on them every 3 years or so. They deserve all the hype as the best boot. Yes they take a bit to break in. Once you get them broke in, you have a life time boot. If you rely on your gear to work as hard as you and keep going when you can't. Buy a pair of whites boots.
yes! I've been waiting for this!
These videos are great, and always my first stop for leather working instruction. Chuck's knowledge, enthusiasm, and delivery/cadence are great. It makes it easy to learn and do good work.
🤯🤯🤯 mindblowing how well Chuck explained this! Thank you!
Thanks, Chuck! I've only been at this craft for a little over a year and I learn something new from each of your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thank you, Arne!
So pleased to have found you and become a new subscriber.
Wow. I have been pushing needles through leather just trying to figure out how in the heck they stitch this stuff. Now I get i make tools in my metal shop cause that’s my niche. I just learned 30 hours of work in 20 mins. Thank you !!
WoW!! i gotta get me one of them Kitchen Magic, slicin & dicin machines! Good techniques, but the TV add presentation is just all-too-familiar. Doesn't leave much time to even catch a breath. Still....i'm sold on that Kitchen Magic machine!!😊
Thank you for the excellent class.
Thanks for the tutorial. I've seen several on doing a saddle stitch and your video was the clearest instructions by far.
Thanks so much for watching!
So cool...thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much that was invaluable to me and a great bit of tutoring from you chuck. I’ve just subscribed. And thank you again From the UK 🇬🇧👍⭐️
I recommend, as a starter project, sewing yourself a pair of leather fingerstalls, so you don't cut yourself with the thread 🙂 easy to make and a good practice piece.
Hi mate your the best!!!! That was an execute video I was not expecting to be able to do the stitch first time but with your excellent tuition I was able to manage it. It was up to your timeing standard as I'm a novice however it came out okay. I love the speedy process that you presented the video everything was terse. I agree with Cerne....
Chuck, your videos are as fun to watch as they are informative. Bravo sire !
Thank you so much!
Fantastic explanations - great motivation
Thank you Chuck I have been watching your videos for the last month I have probably watched 40 of them I have learned so much from you I just wanna personally thank you your energy and your ability to teach is second to none I have been saving videos and going back and referencing them to improve my techniques I am brand new to leatherworking bought some basic tools and today I did my first saddlestitch I wasn’t very good at it at first and I sewed about 6 inches and it turned out pretty good not as good as I would like but hey it’s a start so then I popped in this video and watched you again brushed up on my technique and did a better job the second time around so September 2022 I did my first saddlestitching I couldn’t be happier thank you Chuck thank you
Awesome and inspirational. Thank you
I’m a complete newbie. Some close up shots and comparisons would’ve been greatly appreciated. Aside from that, Chuck is an impressive instructor
Thank you. This is my 1st leather sewing video and I hope to see and learn many more. For years I’ve looked for tool pouch for my basic multitool pouch. So far I’ve gone though countless of big box store pouches and settled for a nylon pouch that holds my Craftsman Professional multitool and my Klein 11-in-One screwdriver. I’m in the process of reverse engineering the pouch then making a pattern for the pouch to suit my needs. I still use my 4D-Cell Maglite leather flashlight hostler for over 25 years and even though carrying this baton gets in the way it never gets lost on an aircraft. Hopefully I’ll be able to have this added to my countless other home and work projects but less is more important when going to fix aircraft. I would hate to carry the added weight of a large tool to remove and replace a panel, bulb or outlet. Thank you for this. Another skill thoughtfully learned. Reg.
Thank you so much for putting this together for us. Even for someone who’s been doing this for a little bit I still get good information because everyone does things a little different and I always learn something new. So, again, THANK YOU!!!
Thank you!
Great video. Very well done and clear.
This was a great tutorial on stitching. First video I have seen that really helped explain how to do it.
Thank you, Michael! We're so glad the video was helpful!
This channel has come to be my go to everyday channel, I've always had an interrest with old crafts and beeing a carpenter and the son of a traditional furniture carpenter I've had a go at most crafts, and together with forging, leather working has become one of my main interrests as of lately and your videos and your easy and simple way of teaching and showing is fantastic! Thank you for doing all this 😊
Thank you, Emil! That means a lot, glad the videos have been helpful!
For a truly clear view of saddle stitches and how to make them take a look at J.H Leather's video. She does the details in a deliberate manner with excellent stitch views. Must have been a teacher or just have it in her genes. :)
Great one Chuck, keep up the good jobs!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Pete!
Your videos are absolutely the BEST! I have been able to learn this new leather working skill from all your videos and make some great garden tool and knife sheaths for my smaller ones that attach to my tool belt.
I learn so much from you! Thank you so much for them!
Thank you, Monika - that is so great to hear!
Thanks Chuck! I started hand sewing almost two years ago, in all the videos I've watched , you are the first person to talk about choking up on the thread! Great video!
Thank you, Martin!
I'm a total beginner, making a stitching pony later today and going to tackle a sheath for my folding saw. I really enjoy your videos - great presentation, really good explanations and I love the enthusiasm. Phil in Ireland
Awesome lesson.
Chuck is the bob ross of leather working
🌸 This is a fantastic tutorial for begginers. I Have learned so much- Thanks for sharong! 🌸
Thank you for watching!
You mentioned tearing up your pinkie pulling the thread tight. Since I don't sew everyday, I haven't built up any calluses on my pinkies. I took a pair of tight fitting work gloves (the kind that are breathable synthetic with leather fingers) and cut short all the fingers except the ring finger and the pinkie. I wear these when I stitch and I don't get blisters. The other fingers are free to stay nimble for working the needles.
Great idea! Thanks for watching!
Great video!
Excellent teacher!
You don't happen to have a video on matching the size of thread, needles and pricking iron?
I am new to the world of leather and am trying to find as much info as I can before I get really into it.
Little confused with this part of it.
Your passion is inspirational!
Thanks in advance!
Great advice. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing all this great information! I've been combining woodworking and leather and it's a blast!
That is awesome! You're welcome :)

Thank you, Dana!
Thank you sir! Great video!
What great information and insight. I feel like I can work like a pro and this will definitely make my next projects (at least) appear much more professionally-done. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Glad it was helpful!
ANOTHER great video... just used your expertise to stitch my first VERY ambitious project. Many thanks!!
That's awesome, thank you so much!
Really enjoyed. You did a good job. Liked the way you showed how to make the stitches...but did not like the distance between the camera and the sewing line. I could not see what the stitches looked like as you made them. All I could make out was the holes you'd made earlier.... I'll bet if you worked a tad on it, you could get both views for us to see and study. Thanks
An introduction to Leather Craft was just so Amazing and so very easy to understand I have now subscribed 😁😁
I love this guy too! Thank You!
That was fantastic for a novice such as myself!! Thank you very much for the great tutorial!!!!

Very good video thank you for making this
This guy pumped me up.l! I’m quitting my 8-5 job and starting up my leatherwork business with my savings.
Chuck,
I am new to leather and just found this video. I want to tell you how helpful it was in one of the most important areas in my recent projects. The detail you provide on the basics like pulling the thread evenly etc. is a huge help. The finer points like making the corner hole at an angle and spacing out the final holes approaching an end are incredibly helpful too and will make my projects look professional.
Beyond the points of sewing I want to compliment you on the way you deliver the content. Your humble mastery, enthusiasm and encouragement to those of us who are new, is such a boost. Ultimately, I ended the video feeling all pumped up to do more projects and believing I could. That in my opinion is the sign of a great teacher.
So thank you Chuck and thank you Weaver Leathercraft. I am a new Loyal Follower and customer.
Sincerely,
Chris Hodges
Thank you, Chris! That means so much and we're so glad the video was helpful and informative!

Thank you so much!
This guy is great!
Sweet! Great info.
😊 Thank you SO much for this video. AMAZING work, Sir!
You are so welcome! :)
Hey, these videos are great! I remember watching my Uncle Bill do leatherworking when I was a young child, it always looked so interesting. I have been unable to work since I was injured in a car accident Dec. 19, 2019 and I need something to do that uses tools, creativity and skills. What better thing to do than leatherworking? Really appreciate the exciting video help from Weaver Leather to get me going!
Excellent, many thanks.....!
Fantastic !!
Great Vid!!!
Excellent, well explained helpful info.

Thanks sir.you are great.
Thank you very much for your tutorial
Glad it was helpful!
Thank You Appreciate your help enjoy your videos
Glad you like them!
Thanks you very much sir you are very good teacher
i love this so much! A lot of old leather projects with shoes in particular were used with a sewing stirrup which was probably an actual stirrup sometimes. I wonder if stirrup and saddle stitches were an inside joke and not just a reference to what they were making? 🤔
Your way works great and I'm happy with what I've learned here ...cross needles and pull taut.
What puzzles me is some people explain very in depth about how we should over lap the thread over the needle creating a knot in each stitch ,guiding the thread in diamond punched holes
I'm thinking the consistency of which needle goes first and in front of the other makes the stitch ... is there any difference in how I'd stitch a diamond punch vs a round hole?
Thanks Chuck.🤠
