  • Finally, I can cross using Milk Paint off of my furniture flipping bucket list! I used Moon Dust by Lilly Moon Paint for my first go around with milk paint and I really enjoyed the process! To be honest, it's a lot less intimidating than I made myself think it was before starting 🤣🤣 The only true difference is the powder form it comes in and the fact that you have to basically make your own paint 😅 Check out the video to see the final result of my first milk painted piece! Stick around til the end for a wonderful surprise - a GIVEAWAY!

I was a prop master for a play and we used that same style hutch. Furniture used in plays are usually beaten up, so it is so nice to see a beautiful refinishing job on a nice piece of furniture. The green color reminds me of when at a very early age I
I was into refinishing furniture. That color is similar to the first piece I did which was a childs desk. I did a glaze wood grain kind of effect over it. As always you do beautiful work and are thoughtful!

My first furniture piece is a chest of drawers that was gifted to me and I just finished it today with a huge learning curve and a few mistakes. With your encouragement, I've been considering trying milk paint because it turns out great and seems quite forgiving for a beginner like me. Thank you for sharing your talents.

I love that you tell us the numbers! Thanks Lauren! Lovely piece you went bold with the color and it looks GREAT! I have not tried milk paint-I’ve wanted to try it but was not aware of how to go about it.. I sold a piece like this for $490 last November. I chalk painted it in chiffon cream, lightly distressed. (I bought it for $125 & paid my sons friend to pick it up for $25. I was all in for around $175) I do live in a small town hope you can get close to $600 for yours.

Love this piece and the color. I used milk paint in the past but didn't like the outcome it gave me. Glad to see that milk paint now has a primer. I may just have to give milk paint another try. The balm really brought out the color. I'll agree with Neiman; his idea not putting on the bright brass was the best. Thanks, Lauren, for another great transformation.

What a gorgeous piece! I love the paint color against the wood tones; very nice! I have actually used milk paint twice; once on a nightstand and once on a bookshelf. I had some solid wood pieces that were in good shape; just needed an updated. I used the milk paint lightly to let the wood still come through and was thrilled with the effect. I have an antique dresser that needs some TLC so would love to be considered for your offer.

Really pretty. Maybe you could build a screen for staging. I was thinking PVC pipe and elbows (maybe 3/4 inch) as the frame. You could use drop cloth, bed sheet, tapestry. Attach with screws on back. Pipe is pretty inexpensive and comes in 10 foot lengths that is easy to cut. I bought a scissor type that really makes it easy. You may need to add a brace in the middle using pipe and Ts depending on size.

When you put that finishing coat on top of the milk paint, I was like 😳! I couldn’t believe how beautifully it brought the color out and made it so vibrant. I’ve never used milk paint because when I’ve seen it used by other RUclipsrs I don’t think they explained each step as well as you, so I just wasn’t ready to try it. Now, I’m ready to stick my toe in the water and see what I can create. Your piece was exquisite and the natural wood tone on the bottom was such a great idea. See, that’s why you’re the professional - I just wouldn’t have thought of that. I’m hoping you recorded this video earlier in the year, because if you still have snow on the ground in June - bless your heart. I’m a fairly new subscriber, spent almost 20 years as a teacher in elementary education and now I’m seeking my passion of flipping refurbishing and reselling. I love it, but I still substitute teach in high school - yes, I know, big jump from elementary, but I love the kids and I especially love that I don’t have all the behind the scenes responsibilities of teachers. 😉 Thanks for such a great video, I’d love an update to see how successful you were with selling it on FB Marketplace. ~ Linda

I bought an old large entertainment center with a rustic pin closure I want to paint and use for a linen closet. I think that green would be beautiful with the dark rustic hardware. You make it all look so easy. P.S. the scroll work at the top of the glass looks like an owl 😊. Stay Safe and Have a Blessed Week.

We have my husbands grandfathers corner hutch in my kitchen/dining room probably for about 20 years. I’ve never been able to identify what kind of paint it has on it. But I learned something new today it has to be milk paint it has that honed kind of flat glow to it. It makes sense it very old and the wood is pretty dark where I can see it. It really needs to be repainted, I’m going to look at the Lily Moon paints. I might have to do my kitchen table too now. Look what you started.😆

I have never used milk paint, but I love, lobe, love the color of that hutch! It turned out so pretty. Updated, but still paid homage to the period of the piece. And I love your new sanding system. I'm sure that will get a ton of use. Your Air B& B is going to be great. Hoping to get to stay for a vacation when you start taking reservations.

I love the idea of milk paint. The fact that the powder doesn’t go off. I purchased some last week but I was too scared to use it. My confidence has increased tenfold after watching your video. Many thanks Lauren!

I have never used milk paint but I want to now! I also think this piece would look so good distressed. This is one of my favorite flips so far!

I haven’t used milk paint before. I would probably use it as a wash rather than solid color.
I like the galaxy color you used.
Love the style of that piece, it’s gorgeous!!

I used milk paint a few times probably about 30 years ago. I would definitely be interested in trying a modern version. This piece turned out beautifully.

Lauren, what a beautiful piece. I couldn’t wait to see this video and I love the color you chose. Green is on the upswing for real. I’ve never used milk paint but this product looked easy to use, for sure. 👩🏻‍🎨 💚 I was carefully watching today and I want you & Neiman to know you both do such a great job. You with your skills on painting and Neiman with his great film skills. If Neiman is editing too he’s really good. You two complement each other ❤️❤️so well.

Hi Lauren - I’m a previous teacher myself and am working towards having the things I’m passionate about be the things that support me! I’ve always been more of a stainer than a painter, but the milk paint reminds me of an alternate way to stain! I’m enjoying the renovations so much!!

I’ve never used milk paint before but would love to try Lilly Moon milk paint on a piece I inherited from my dad. Your piece turned out beautiful. I wasn’t sure I cared for the finish until you added the furniture balm. It definitely took the piece to the next level. Love it!

Thanks for this demonstration for restoring the wood too. Your piece is beautiful! Looks like I'll be a no fear milk painter sometime soon! Lol
