Hey Tyler! I'll be out there this weekend but haven't been in a long time. Any idea what beaches would be good to get out and try? I know the weather is supposed to turn for the worst...
Brady, yes the weather and waves looks to be tough this weekend. With the storms we have had, there is plenty of new structure on almost all the beaches I have seen. Pretty stoked on that! I honestly would hit up your favorite beach and focus on getting out on a lower tide. As for specific beaches, give Torrey Pines a shot, maybe Del Mar. A few weeks ago Mission Beach had a good surf perch bite. But give a beach some time, if no bites I would suggest trying a completely different beach. So much water for the fish to choose from, which forces us to go out and try to find them. Hope this helps!
I know, would have loved to see what it was! I was using a 8 wt rod, Rio full sinking line on an 8 wt Lamson reel. I am running 12 lb. test and length is about 6 foot in length.
@@lifetime805 I don't know the exact sink rate but for the surf the heavier the better. We get so much big swell and strong currents using heavy line and flies will get it down to the bite zone. Hope this helps!
I think you hooked either a spot fin croaker or a corbina. That is what I believe you lost unfortunately.
Very nice video, incredible strike, it looked huge! What do you think it could have been? Greetings from Argentina

Yes, using full sinking line in the surf! Gotta get down low. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Can it be a leopard shark that you lost?
What’s sink rate of your sinking line? 🙏
I can't remember exactly what sink rate this line is but I go super heavy, 300 grain +. I want my line and fly to get super low.
