- Fly fishing the surf on California's central coast. Got our hands on some good Barred Surf Perch and Walleye.
All filmed horribly on my GoPro (with the exception of my Iphone X.)

Love the Hat! Thanks for supporting and advertising for the shop.
Never seen anyone fly fish the coast. Truly amazing to watch this. Nice work.✌
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
Nice catches, I've been looking into trying fly fishing for the surf, definitely have to try it now haha
great video! really fantastic casting
OK, Katherine ... you're worthy. I could tell almost immediately. I subscribed. You have a lot of RUclips potential, I'd say.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed.
👌awesome clip. Im in the sport for 20 years. You guys in the west really have to face challenging scenarios, that beach structure looks chaotic to my eyes. Much respect guys from NJ👌👌👌
Definitely new Subs 🙂

SurfSkagit thanks for watching! Yeah west coast can be challenging at times, especially on the central coast where I’m from. But we manage, and still have a great time. 👍
You need some stickers on that stripping basket!
Very cool ,I flyfish the surf almost every weekend
Right on! So much fun getting out
Nice double hauling. Thanks for the video : )
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Sink tip, floating or intermediate?
Cool vid! I'm curious, was this during low tide?
How is it possible to cast that line when its thick one,,how you deal with resistance ect
hi K. what line are you using on your rod? the film is good. thank you
Nice video. Subscribed from NYC!
Thanks!
Always wanted to try fly fishin for perch!
Super fun! Have to give it a try someday.
A very good day at the beech.
Nice video! Picked up a 9’ fenwick last year and a reel a few months ago. Just haven’t tried it out on the surf yet. I surf fish Monterey to Santa Cruz most of the time. Tight lines!
Right on! Yeah, give it a go, and you’ll have some fun times. I’ve been wanting to head up that way and hit the surf myself.
Cool! If you guys ever head up this way, hit me up on FB or IG. I can show you guys some spots while you guys get to watch me fowl around with fly gear in the surf 🤪
For sure! What’s your IG?
Cali_surfcaster I barely got back on social media. So not too many posts on IG yet. Just picked up a new go pro tho. So more content coming
very nice vid
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Can you suggest flies to tie for surf perch. I have been tying flies for deep sea for over 20 years but never for the surf.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Oh nice! I would deff look into the LCO mole crab pattern!
@@eatmyrelish Thank you so much will check You Tube for pattern. Good fishing always.
we saw you guys at Guadalupe early November but couldve been someone else.
This weekend will be my first attempt at surf perch. I’m close to LA do you recommend any beaches?
Update? Where did you go, what did you catch? I’m in Whittier and a fishing fool also….
@@enriquev3001 end up going to Leo Carrillo. Then to just short of point magu
Nice video. Where on the Central Coast are you? Thank you!
Fly rod set up and line brand and wt?
Awesome!!
Try skagit line sis...nice fly on beach...
Are you using a sinking tip?
Dope! Central coast? Santa Barbara Area?
Thanks! Yep, We’re always hitting up and down the Central Coast. Love fishing our home waters.
Slaying those sava. What fly’s do you recommend for surf perch? Was going to do some fishing soon on the pacific coast.
Do you tie your own flies? If so, look into the LCO mole crab!
Wading Water thank you, will check it out.
@@eatmyrelish and the LCO baby perch
Thank you for this! Do you like your TAKE stripping basket? Any complaints? I'm shopping for one. It looks sweet, the compact function.
Love my TAKE basket. Super comfortable and all around good product. The only thing it doesn’t have is some drainage holes, which I manage without them, but my husband drilled a few in his and prefers it that way.
Drill holes in it for sure. You don’t want a wave filling it when you are in an awkward situation which would be dangerous.
What line do you recommend? Full sink? Sink tip? Thanks
Full sink, mine sinks about 5in per second.
KChenoweth what brand do you use?
It’s the airflow surf, 265g. Paired with my 7wt.
How often do you lose fly's per fish? New subber
You forgot a description of your equipment
Hardly see people do videos on fly fishing for surf perch.
enjoyed watching, couldn't hear a thing
I absolutely love your taste in music ❤ All you need now is a KFC stripping bucket 😎❤️
