I got the Mosaico Hawaii for my birthday. Soooo beautiful. And writes beautifully. The resin is also absolutely gorgeous! And the piston mechanism is so well built.
Hey David… I have a production Blue Hawaii Mosaico and couldn’t find the engraving… finally found it on the lower back of the cap. First Leonardo I’ve seen without engraving on the barrel.
In my one visit to San Diego in 2010, I had a chance encounter with one of Niki’s sculptures there. The odd thing is that I learned about her just weeks before that trip, in one of the many inspiring conversations I had with my colleague, Fal de Saint-Phalle, with whom I worked in The Netherlands.
Do you find any issues with the ink flow keeping up with your writing with the flex nibs? Seen other reviews where this has been an issue. If you bought again, would you get with the flex bib again or go with a standard nib? I would like to purchase one for regular use but can’t tell suitability for frequent writer
Thanks for the review! Maybe there is no engraving on the barrel because Leonardo started to put engravings on the back of the cap on some of there models.
On the ones in my possession, there is no engraving anywhere. I am uncertain where the engraving will be located on this pen, but yes...they have varied between the cap and barrel on some models.
The engraving on my Mosaico is on the back of the cap. (PS-While I love the look, feel, and steel nib on my pen, I agree with you David that the size of the clip is disproportionately puny on this model.)
That's good to hear, engravings on the barrel are the reason I never considered purchasing their pens. If they moved engravings to somewhere that is not in your face I may consider, like their pens otherwise.
I've seen this Mosaico for sale at $236 (steel nib), which seems more reasonable than the MSRP. The gold-nib option is crazy vs. great fountain pens available from other makers. I don't like this model though. Looks weird, like an abstract painting all chopped up, and sort of like carnival glass to me. ( Wonder whether the flex nib railroads much when trying to write with it that way. )
Well David; your review just cost me some more money. The mango pen will be ordered today. This will be my 13th Leonardo pen. Job well done.
Wow! 13!
What are all of your other 12 models? Share a pic?
Hi can i just ask if leonardo pens are better than aurora pens or ranga premium acrylic pens with jowo nibs??

Very thorough review and comparisons. Thanks! 🙂

Yes...some models have the engraving on the cap.
Thank you! Mystery solved!
Thank you for presenting them!
I've been waiting for these to come out in the US.
Love the support for Ukraine!! Thank you!!!!
Just to let you know, your tags are referring to gravitas!
In regards to the pen, I’m wondering if this trend will pick up with other brands.
I just got my first Leonardo Mosaico Hawaii and it's a dream fountain pen.

Does anybody know if the nib is interchangeable with other Leonardo nibs ?

The engraving is on the cap, but you have to look for it, it is a bit subtle.

Nice use of the material to gain a very different look.
hi, can you see a little bit the ink level?
The material is a bit too opaque to see the ink level.
@@FigbootonPens Understood, thanks for your reply.
Thanks
Thank you FOP
They are beautiful.
Hi david!
Wow! $250 extra for a gold nib. And yet the price is still 'reasonable'. Guffaw.

I watch these reviews so I don't feel quite so foolish for paying Sailor's somewhat less ridiculous prices.
Underrated comment!
And its the same Jowo found every other pen. I am fine with a sailor pro gear at the price of a nib. 😅
One of the best Italian pen brands...!!! ❤️❤️❤️
