Not using a serger machine, but I am starting this quilt as my first ever quilt. I have been sewing for eons, but not quilting, and couldn't agree with you more about pressing: It make ALL. THE. DIFFERENCE. Thank you so much for your clear, terse, no-nonsense, concise tutorial. You're a wonderful teacher.
Thank you so much!!!! I'm so glad you will be trying this project along with me. I hope it is a great first time quilting experience for you. Such a compliment!
Hello there Lori so glad to see your video. I see it been up for a while but i just found it for the first time. Girl we really miss seeing you in the classes. Hope we can catch up again soon. The video is great your just a great teacher thanks for you hard work.
Hi Lori, love this technique. I tried to order this pdf, but for some reason it did not work. I put all my info in & was using PayPal. But it would not process the order for me. An6 suggestions ? Thank you ! 😊
New subscriber, this is a beautiful quilt. I have a new granddaughter her nursery is pink & purple. This quilt would be a fun one to make for her. Thank you for sharing your time with all of us. ❤️
Hi Lori, just watched this tutorial and love it. I have a serger but don’t think it has any different stitches i.e for the finished edge so guess I will just add normal binding. Great quilt as you go method without having to use joining strips. I have a couple of jelly rolls so can’t wait to try this. Will make for my young granddaughter ❤Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful skills :)
I just found your channel. It’s wonderful. After 16 weeks in hospital and months and months of rehab I will be going home soon. I cannot wait to start sewing again. I always wondered about quilting with my serger and this is fantastic. My head is spinning with ideas. Many thanks and all the best wishes. Sandra 🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
Sounds like you have been through a bit of a rough time. So glad you will be going home soon. Happy you found my channel! Sending well wishes to you :)
That is the most beautiful binding ever! I need to stop being intimidated by a Serger! This quilt is gorgeous and the design is brilliant. I'm going to try this for sure!
Hi Lori. I just discovered your channel through this video. At first I thought, "Naa" and almost passed up on watching it. Then I almost stopped watching it again when you starting using your serger, (because I don't have a serger.) But I kept an open mind and I'm so glad I did because I really like your method! If I had passed on this video I would have missed out on learning a new technique. I am now another new subscriber to your channel! Thanks for posting it. I have a couple of jelly rolls that are waiting for me to apply this new technique! All the best to you!
Valerie, thank you sew much for keeping an open mind!!! So excited you stayed the course LOL. Creativity is just a thought away.....I really enjoy developing different technique opportunities. Thanks so much for subscribing :)
A great technique! I can see doing this with different widths when using scraps and in a courthouse steps fashion as well. U inspire us. Thanks so much
Holy Moly that’s incredible!!! I don’t know if my baby lock has a wave stitch????? I’ll have to look at the book. This would be a great project for charity, a quick baby quilt or a Project Linus quilt. I am really impressed!!!! Thanks so much for your tutorial!!!
This was Really great. At first I thought you had made a mistake... but it was ME. Finally figured out you were using a Serger. This quilt reminded me of one I saw on RUclips at least 9 years ago, made in quarter yard pieces by w/o/f.... Kaye Wood was her name. A real pioneer with the serger.......
Thanks for watching :) I'm glad you enjoyed it and was a bit of a relaxer when it comes to sergers. I have to be very honest, I love my Babylock, they are the easiest and most user friendly!

Hi from South Africa 🇿🇦 what an amazing tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing. I love the process...at first I was lol, nope I'm not getting this but i hung in there and was amazed. Maybe a good idea would be to title it QAYG with jelly roll on a serger? I need a overlocker now 😄 ciao
Would like to try this but maybe put different fabric strips on the back for a different looking quilt. It would definitely complicate the process though. I will have to think it through first and plan it out - not sure if it would be too much for me! 🤔
I had a stack of jelly rolls and never know what to make this method of putting batting in between is a fantastic idea I will certainly try thank you so much Chris from UK
I typically go for a cotton batting. I live in the south so lofty battings are not the most available and lighter batting is the best option here in my area.
Really like this. But think I would cut strips to all most fit. Seems like a lot of waste the way your doing. But really like this idea. Would make a cute baby quilt ☺️
Sandra, when I teach classes, which I have done in person often, I always work in wiggle room or mistake insurance. Once my technique is understood running in your own creative direction is encouraged. :)

Love Love Love your tutorial. You made the process simple to understand, thanks. The repetitions helped me a lot.
I’m watching again and I still like this. Also, a pretty fussy cut picture/print for the center block would be beautiful.

Hi Lori! I just watched your video and I'll be making this with a sewing machine. Without a serger how would you finish off the edges?
You can add a traditional binding. That would look perfect!
How big is the quilt made from one jelly roll? Seems like a bed size would require strips longer than 42".Would s bigger quilt require you to cut strips from yardage? I like the technique.
Hi Carol. To create larger strips for larger projects you would need to miter more than one Jelly Roll strip together. I haven't used a complete Jelly Roll just yet.
