I think the part of the video that got to me most was when Dan and Tord helped Murph into the chair. It felt to me like that was symbolising the help of friends in a time of depression, but maybe it was simply just Dan and Tord wanting to be in the video.
Who's still jammin out this beautiful masterpiece in 2024?!
You can be surrounded by as much happiness as their is in the world but it won't stop you feeling as bad as you do inside
This 100% describes depression.
MyMusickitty I wish more people would realise this
@@patrickbo2045 this 100 percent describes antidepressant medication feeling.
not until you untie that little knot in your chest and turn it into a bow 🏹
weed is the only thing that works for me anti's just numb you
what's sad about this song is that it actually shows you what depression is like, everybody is happy around you and having a great time and the your just there feeling emptier and emptier because all you feel is sadness
stupid comment
2:20 when his band mates helped him up. my heart just melted omg. i love this song so much
SarcasticInnocence that was the best bit of the song
"It's hard to smile when you're as flattened as a pancake
The only tears come from our heads when we concentrate
Perhaps I'm being unjust or perhaps you agree"
This video is so fucking genius if you really watch and think about it
I love how he says "Flattened as a pan-c-cake" blimmin love him
I feel like that really captures the whole album, happiness through depression. There's even this line in Schumacher the Champagne, "you might as well be proud of last place". Really cool theme, I loved this album. cheers
'Our vivid dreams are just like big production movies' PERFECT lyrics.
such a great song, hope it cheers some people up
My girlfriend and I just split and my depression played a big role in it. This song helped a bit, I thank you brother.
Such an underrated beautiful song. I completely understand about the depression people are feeling while there are so many good things going around. It is so much harder than that.
Been listening to this for 6 hours on loop whilst lying on my floor.
same
same
So you like listening to shit music over and over again
Pissflaps Magee If it is shit to you then the answer is yes
This could totally be me. Everytime I'm depressed I lie on the floor in my kitchen or I take every pillow and blanket I can find and build a den where I spend the whole day and hiss at everyone who wants to talk to me, build me up or just looks at me. And songs like this make me feel a little bit mor confident in those situations.
best thing to come out of Liverpool since the Beatles they're just amazing
i need to see them again :)
Still listening in 2020 , very apt atm
I used to listen to this song like 6 or 7 years ago, and I loved it for just the song itself. But now grown up, this song slaps! It hits different.
Listened to this song as a teenager & I never really understood it until now.
I’ve never related to a comment more
Same
I always feel a million times better after a good half our session with the wombats. They are literally the best thing for depression...
As a depressive person, this makes me smile. It is very true.
One of my tools against depression: listening to the Wombats!
A beautiful piece of great music, made by outstanding musicians.
What a good video! I just discovered this band today! Sounds really good also
I heard this song this weekend at the Radio 1 Big Weekend, and it blew me away, i've always liked The Wombats, but this was the 1st time i heard them live, and i've since booked tickets to see them in Newcastle this october, definately a new fan.
just gets better with time and is so relatable to so many people. i hope watching this has cheered you up like it has done for me
Very interesting imagery, well played Wombats
They Have played a HUGE part in my life. When my Bff walked in on me cutting, she said Stay Alive for the Wombats. And so i did, I am Glad I did. I love you Guys!
That's a good motivation to live-
Probably my all time favourite song... but saying that anything by the wombats is my all time favourite. The video is absolute genius!
I keep coming back to this. It's perfect.
This song means a lot to me, my best friend at university is suffering from depression & takes citalopram. Always makes me think of her.
Feeling a bit like I'm standing on the edge of the cliff, ready for the fall
That Smile hang in there mate
this song has so much meaning behind it. depression is... very tough. take it from someone who knows. I hope everyone can get the help they need.
I'm having a break down and when I'm feeling down I stick this song on. Thank you Wombats for cheering me up :)
Omg :'( This is so god damn beautiful, did anyone else cry?
+Meredith Overman i ate whole box of zoloft while listening to this, mistook popcorns... and am dizzy... and also crying... glad you asked...
+saya kota No, you didn't.
Every day.
when you don't pay for your insurance in America.
This type of song can save lives! Awesome song writing - this is needed in music
Forever my favorite song and music video. Love you, Murph!🤍✌🏻
I saw these guys live and i must say, it was the best gig i have been too :D
1:55 - Dan leaning on the car
2:01 - Tord standing in the driveway
2:19 - "Holy shit, maybe we should help him up..."
listened to this song every day about 5 times for a week now. absolutely incredible.
This song is beautiful. I started crying. I'm deeply impressed with them, didn't expect them to be this great.. The Wombats are my idols and i look up to them :)
Just covered this on my channel, such an amazing song I love this
So addicted right now
This song always cheers me up. I really really really love this band
This song is always at the back of my head, I miss this era
murph so cuteeee
Thank you.
i'm usually not very fond of The Wombats music, but they really did pull it out the bag with this one, the music is very uplifting imo, gorgeous song, almost anthemic.
Best song of all time. Of ALL TIME. Best video too. God I love The Wombats
"we kick back and let the pills do the talking" is quite possibly the best and most relatable lyric ive ever heard
I've just come off mine for the same reasons!
The video just made the song ten times better...and the song's already absolutely perfect to begin with
This is so awesome!
The color, the people, the place
EVERYTHING!.
Please allow me
to be your anti-depressant
I too am prescribed as freely
as any decongestant
We kick back and let the pills do the talking
People hear a distinct rattle when we're walking
Then there's the extra two stone that's our only guarantee
Our vivid dreams are just like big production movies
They get entangled well within our daily routines
So please re-think or use my trademark strategy
And please allow me to be your anti-depressant
I too am prescribed as freely as any decongestant
It's hard to smile when you're as flattened as a pancake
The only tears come from our heads when we concentrate
Perhaps I'm being unjust or perhaps you agree
Still I've thrown away my citalopram
I needed more than what was in those 40 milligrams
So cast away with the doctor's plans
And please allow me to be your anti-depressant
I too am prescribed as freely as any decongestant
Still I've thrown away my citalopram
Although I felt as grim as the reaper man
So cast away with the doctor's plans
Like me
You'll float, too
The GREATEST and BEST video of them all, I guess we all get depressed but sing it out shows bottle from a band that deserve so much more credit, you guys are amazing, cant wait for your new stuff :), Love all your albums :) LONG LIVE THE WOMBATS!!!
thats why i love the wombats everything they have done virtually is upbeat
I relate to this video more than anything
same as me
where was this video filmed?
My grandma was a drug addict till the day she died. This songs chorus sums up what I always thought but never said to her.
I remember listening to this when I was 16. Now I’m 23 and starting to take Citalopram. This song came to mind, I finally understand it. It’s so well written
Oh my god this video is scary, it sounds and looks exactly like how I feel when on antidepressants.
When you can relate to a song that up until now you had no idea what it was on about. kinda cool but not for a good reason :/
I wanna live in the UK. This is what music should sound like
Thank you Greg James for making it your Record of the Week. It made me love them even more.
Uncanny description of life under that class of drug.
I was on 50ml of Citalopram, No Good that was, im now on Zoloft :/ its stronger but the diazepam works best, Depression Sucks :(
Tansell Ziggy-Zig I'm on fluoxetine and they refuse to let me change it because they think it's working just fine.
thats not right :( only you alone knows what works and what doesnt, i would suggest seeking a second opinion.
now for my situation 3 years later: Still depressed and anxious :(
Tansell Ziggy-Zig I'm going to, I desperately need something else.
Im Now on Fluoxetine too 20mg
im completely and utterly obsessed with this song. its soo good!!! so different for them but so amazinggg
fell in love with this song last night, fell in love with the band right now
Something I never thought about when they make these slow motion videos is that the singers lips match the track played over it... do they have to sing in slow motion when filming the video? lol
Ive always wondered this to but i thought that the video was recorded normal but the song was played faster so when they slowed the whole thing down the video would be slow Mo and the song would then be played at its normal speed.
if you find out the answer let me know.
they actually have to sing faster , so when they put it in slow motion the lip movements will match the lyrics.
if you know troye sivan - he once did a 'behind the scenes' of filming a music video and there he said it :D and i guess every musician does it the same way in music videos ^^
fionaWhatever Ahhh cool. Cheers!
This is filmed in the same place as Rella - Hodgy, Domo Genesis And Tyler, The Creator
Is it really!?!! Where did you get that
Mason Talbot go look at rella
I’m crying, it brought me years back 😭 nostalgic af
and take it literally mate, two weeks ago I suddenly switched, and realised the ability that is in us all. September 2012 till December christmas day I was depressed. I am about to listen to this song for the first time, but from reading your comment I understood you probably do get it even though I have no proof as I;ve yet to watch the video, but I have faith in you.
Basically, I transformed myself, suicidal thoughts controlled my every action. Now I live to love myself an everyone else.
Am I the only one who thinks he looks like Steven Fry?
I used to be someone's anti-d but she stopped the prescription and now i need an anti-I but I haven't got one so yeah...
I'm in your situation lol
Hope that your anti-I became a self anti-D with time :)
they deserve so much more views... I can't wait to see them live, through time they are one of the few bands that get even better, I couldn't see any room for improvement from the first album but they managed! I cant wait for "This Modern Glitch"
I'm depressed that I had not ever heard of this song till now. Amazing video too, really well done .
wish i could get anti-d that easy :/ cant even get a therapist atm
I love these guys. The first song I heard from them was "jump in to the fog." Been a fan since!
Absolutely spot on. Perfect! Made me cry. Well done guys!
I wish I would have known of this song when I "threw away my citalopram" and "cast away with the doctors plans". This describes me so well that I just cry everytime I hear it. Beautiful.
every new single is great, i'm so addicted to tokyo, jump into the fog and now to this one... i want the album!
their 3 most recent singles Tokyo, Jump Into The Fog and finally this, i think have each been quite different and phenomenal! There album is set to be a screamer and sure to be a summer favourite like the last!
in love with this song and an amazing music video to go along with it
This song has helped me more than any other song on earth.
greaaaaaaaat song and greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat video!!!
I can't wait to see you in Milan!!!
It's a whole beautiful piece!!!
Love it! Actually love all their songs!
quality song off a quality band, one of my favorite bands ever
so so so so so amazing i love you guys and i cant wait to see you live on the 9th of May! seriously brilliant.
Fantastic. Not pretending to be pretentious, not trying to be the big man on campus, just what it is. Take it easy, enjoy it if it's your sort of thing, otherwise just move on! It's a free world.
Reminds me of leaving the hospital, getting back on meds, eating again and that moment when it was cold outside and I could feel the life slowly pouring back into my veins and it was hard and it was worth it too.
I am so glad that someone said it i was depressed for a good portion of my life and i will always sympathize
I've quite liked The Wombats before this. Listened to them occasionally, but this song has taken them to a new level that I hope they can stay at. Lovely arrangement.
You think they can't get any better and they slap you around the face with their creative and lyrics. just wow
Chillin in my bed with the above song blasting out of the speakers!! Serenity foah chizzle
It's the orchestral nature of the song that just makes it so much more, the skill of murph and the gang, making some very true songs, that are so dark and meaningful, but with the cheery British "get on with it" attitude that pulls together the series of elements that you just don't find in the generic mainstream primitive sexual expressions that the artist themselves don't strive for, but the lyrics appear so desperate for!
Im just glad for some good tunes from the wombats!
first heard the wombats on radio 1 with 1996 and have loved them ever since!
this is just gorgeous.
This is art and music coming together, like it should be.
