Come along with us to watch the process of how we spray a field from the minute it is booked to when it is done being sprayed. This is a slow-motion version of how we would do it on a busy day, but still the process is the same!

Another great video from behind the scenes. Great job both of you 👍👍
Thanks for watching!
@@AgAviationAdventures always a pleasure
I sure do miss those days as a kid. We also had to move to different strips depending on how far the fields were from home base. Usually we took care of the mixing at home base while the other crew headed out for the satellite strips.
Also added to this chaos is refueling, cleaning the windshield looking for dripping nozzles, plus a few other jobs and this was done all in the time it took to load the hopper.......all except refueling, dads rule was to shut the engine down while doing that..
Those sound like great memories!
Yes, they sure are!
I sure do miss these days! Thanks Kids!
Thanks for watching John!
Love your guys work! Great channel with some brilliant insights into the industry 👌
Thanks for watching!
Great video, this gives us a better idea of your day to day operations from beginning to end.
Thanks for watching Ben!
Just came across this channel and have really enjoyed learning about the importance of ag aviation. What kind of calculations are involved to figure out how much of each chemical to mix in the product for spraying? Keep up the great work! Look forward to seeing more videos.
The spray order says how much of each chemical goes on per acre. For example it may say 2.5oz per acre. If I'm going to do 100 acres I then take the 2.5 x 100 to come up with 250 oz. Then take 250/128 (128 oz in a gallon) and you come up with 1.95 gallons of that chemical going into the load. There are lots of different ways the chemical can be measured depending on if it's dry or liquid, if it is stated in ounces, quarts, gallons, etc..
@@AgAviationAdventures ah, makes sense now. Thank you very much!!
Ever have a non company plane request a landing on your strip, or just come in hot ?
We’ve had a few people land there in the past. Always someone that we know.
Didn’t see y’all at the NAAA convention in savannah
We weren’t there! We just got back from Central America on motorcycles and now we’re in Baja until the beginning of January.
Hi guys, so after a field is booked and in the computer... the ratio of the mixture (specified by the farmer?) is already included in the order and your task is to calculate the according amount of the chemicals for the loads? Probably this is a complete newbie question, but who decides about a 2.0 or 5.0 gal/ac job?
The operation you're working for will likely have a standard for GPAs. Maybe some products/crops you'll spray at 2gpa and some 3, some 5 etc.
Almost finished my ATPL theory exams in the uk, got 2 more to go. For us foreign friends what would you say may be the best way to get into crop dusting, travel, visas, rentals and restrictions. Are jobs high skilled and valued enough that they would allow work visas?
Well I don’t really know anything about the process a foreigner would need to go through. I don’t know what kind of visas they offer. However I do know of pilots from South America, Australia, and New Zealand that fly here in the US.
you get in the wrong side of the AT lol
Haha I know! The last one had a radio box that made it impossible to get in and out of on the other side. Now I’m just used to this.
How many acres is a full load for that plane?
Depends on the gallons applied per acre at 5 gallon its 100, thus 500 gallon capacity
As Will has said, it’s a 500 gallon aircraft and depends on how many gallons to the acre is being applied.
Is there a certain math like 10-C or 20-1 or whatever that you need to pass in order to become a crop duster
No.
Making it look too easy.
This is definitely the “easy” version. When you’re 5k acres behind it can be a little more chaotic.
