About The Boys: THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

I feel like Hughie is the one who actually had the power to radicalise that group. No one would have believed Butcher if he said Homelander r*ped and murdered his wife. But A-Train is more tangible, less godlike, and Robin's death had received a small mention on the news. If he had said how A-Train had killed Robin by accident (because he did, and these people believe supes only ever hurt people by accident), but then LAUGHED about it later, that could have been the moment where these people really looked at themselves and thought "maybe the guy that broke my spine by accident thought it was funny".
Eh, the “therapist” would’ve tried to shut him down. It’s implied she’s on Vought’s payroll to keep an eye on the victims and stop them getting too radical.

You do have a right to hate someone that robbed you of something significant like a spouse, or a child, or your livelihood. The point of therapy should be to not let that preoccupy you from life, because you need to learn to go about your day and not lose your shit because of your circumstances.

I wish I could be this bold when talking to people and just say exactly what I think all the time. Too many consequences though.
Being afraid of telling the truth has been downfall of the human race forever. Just know when and who to tell the truth to is the challenging part but yes theirs always consequence's.
You'd find it's quite invigorating and empowering. Rarely a regretful memory.
I am this way, and yes too many consequences, but ofcrs can't do it with my teachers coz my dad have hopes from me.
Why would you do that for your sake. Even this show shows that lying people are either successful or safe. Homelander's downfall starts when he says what he thinks.
Group therapy is a hard one, bc if you say what you think, sometimes you trigger some people. Some people have built up ways of thinking to get through the day, and calling them out by critiquing their coping mechanisms can have them melting. It takes a lot of work just to stabilize yourself after trauma. And sometimes letting go has to be the only way to move on. It’s not always about what’s right, it’s about what works. And sometimes biting your tongue and keeping these thoughts in until you can work with an independent therapist is the best way to minimize damage to others. From personal experience-still trying to learn boundaries. Anyways, Butcher lashes out with his rage and damages people around him. Doesn’t mean it’s not valid. But it’s one of those struggles-how do you use your rage, how do you control it? Direct it so it doesn’t destroy you?
Sometimes, the solution isn't acceptance.
Sometimes, overcoming denial and getting stuck on anger for the rest of your life is fine.
Because just f*cking sometimes, it _is_ the answer.
I think the Buddha said it best. "anger is like shooting yourself in the foot and expecting the object of your anger to feel pain". The answer of course is to take action on the things you can control and let go of the attachment to the things you cannot. In Butcher's case, it would still mean he could kill supes, but he would be much more stable for the people he doesn't hate if he distanced himself from his anger.
And most of the time getting revenge usually badass 💀
Just don’t let it eat you alive

Reminds me of the forced counseling I had when I was younger. I hate it and would rather go do something about my problems than just sit in a room and talk about things that aren’t the therapist’s business
@@stevenseagull2030 counseling isn’t for everyone. It didn’t do anything but waste my time. The easy path is feel sorry for yourself and take anti depressant meds and try to make people feel bad. I take full responsibility of my mental health and don’t take any substances and proud of it
I’ve known a few people who said counseling helped them. The sessions helped of course, along with the meds that went with it. I also know people who it did nothing for. It’s just not for everyone. It did nothing whatsoever to help me personally. I had to overcome issues, not sit and talk about them. But either way, There is no point to forcing someone to go to counseling.
It's not for people who are afraid of expressing emotion like butcher. Dude's a whimp. He'd rather go against his wife's wishes and throw Ryan into the arms of homelander than extend some fucking empathy to the kid. The only person butcher thinks about is himself. Of course a person like that would fail in a group therapy setting.
@@stevenseagull2030 Counseling and therapy is for cowards and weaklings and degenerate inferiors. Society is falling apart because we’d rather curl up in “safe spaces” than grow a pair and deal with what life throws at you. I have genuinely zero respect for people who go to therapy.

Billie Butcher is a little bit right here. So many people think that being angry is a bad thing and should be avoided but it's not. It's an important emotion just like any other. The important part is what you do with that anger and how you express it.
Anger can be useful if you keep it under control.

Anyone else notice how gloomy the screen filter was back in season 1. Pretty fitting for how fucked it was learning about The Boys universe
Butcher sometimes he could be a jerk but did you really have to be the one be a jerk front of the everyone in therapy 👈
This lowkey is piece of the amount of hate, grudge and rage Butcher feels about the Supes, including the one he hates the most out of all of them. After S4 ended this scene hit different but now with Homelander taking over the presidency and making his own regime. With him driving off with the virus, he's done taking any more chances and I think that he reached his breaking point with trying to save Ryan so Season V, it's on sight for all supes.
It is so satisfying seeing this again after the Season 4 finale. Old Butcher is back, and instead of the insane and somewhat fun character he was S1, now it’s just pure tragedy seeing him become the worst version of himself.
Speaking as someone who goes to therapy: a therapist would NEVER force you to do something you don’t want to do. Much of the therapeutic practice is to allow the client to come to a practical conclusion themselves - NEVER forcing anything on them.
The fact that the therapist in the scene tried to bully Billy Butcher into taking the talking stick is eight different kinds of stupid and incompetent.
I can’t emphasize this enough: what she did was so stupid. She even read him at a glance, correctly; yet she still stirred the hornets nest. I don’t know whether this is bad writing or not.
One Night Stand a dangerous thing.

He has time for a side-quest in the middle of a mission
The fact that Tech Knight broke that woman's spine way before Gen V and S4 is wild 😂
I thought Tek Knight's powers were lawyer like lie detector type powers. How did he break her spine?
Probably has some a tek suit: robotic muscles or motor. though most likely a retcon.
This was from season 1, before they had the idea to drastically change his character from the comics, so the Tek Knight they refer to here is far more like the comic version, who doesn't have powers, but wears an Iron man like suit.
Hes my favorite spice girl. He was the brains, talent and commitment. Jsit abismal social skills though
Sometimes its better to let anger out then repressing it. Because then you just blow up when its to much.
They shouldn't listen to someone as crazy as butcher he's insane with anger
But he has a point why to to worship fake heroes. Who simply are killers, and posing themselves as heroes who simply they don't nothing
The way Butcher smiled when he threatened the guy who had a thing for the ice princess is just unhinged. True evil guy right there. Always has been.
We don't name names here. We only narrow them down to a single person by describing them as a female superhero that turns themselves into ice.
Judge Dredd was the perfect casting choice for Butcher.

Kinda dislike the comments here because like... the show literally proves Butcher wrong. No, not all supes are the same. No, being a violent supe killing maniac isn't the all-encompassing answer.
