    My dad R.I.P used to play this album and Land of Make Believe EVERY Sunday morning as he cooked while we went to church early 80s. As an adult I first found the casette tapes THEN the CDs to know MP3s. I played them for my sons as they grew up. At age 49 there isn't a week that goes by that I don't play at least 1 of these.

      My dad played this album when I was growing up in the 80s, too. Chuck was his favorite musician. In the 2000's, I took dad to see him play music from his new album, as a surprise birthday gift. He got to meet Chuck and hold his flugelhorn, the one in this video!
      Do you know if there is a released video of this concert? I only have the LP.

    ...This was from a fantastic PBS fundraiser back in the 70's...about 90 minutes...seems to be lost, hope not forever...he introduced the Sanchez tunes that night...what a great show...Did "Chase the Clouds"...explained the title; that his daughter asked, on a gloomy day "daddy can't you chase the the clouds away?"...Talked about his mom and that he wrote "Bella Via" (good life) for her...played "main squeeze"...wonderful show...Feels so Good

    AWESOME CONCERT , I WAS 17 years old and my best friend in high school Kenny Moss whose Uncle is Jerry Moss got us box seats , sitting with Kenny's parents and I , Jerry Moss and his wife , Herb Alpert and his wife and Gil Friesen and his wife. Ironically, I saw Grant Geissman perform at a recital in the summer of about '77 or '78 at a summer music camp at Cal. State Northridge, where I also , as a trumpet player myself , met Clark Terry. Decades later as a Mastering Engineer , would do mastering on a few Geissman album's plus Beastie Boys albums , whose drummer was James "Jailbait" Bradley , again , ironically Chuck Mangione's drummer at the bowl.

    we'll hear more compositions

    • @narginscubing374
      @narginscubing374 4 года назад +3

      Personally, as someone fairly young, (I won't specify my age because I'm on the internet of all things, but between 10 and 20 years of age) I hate the sound of autotune, it's annoying and it takes away from the human sound of music. We're playing this piece in my school's jazz band and I'm playing Chuck's part as well as the lead part (because we don't really have any other lead players that can play a high E other than me) and it's an absolute blast. We're going to be competing with it, but this and other jazz music as well as symphonic band and choir and all of that is totally life changing to hear the music in person. To watch other people perform or be the person performing is a high that no drug can give. I hope this helps restore your faith because I really do find a true sense of joy when it comes to making music that takes the kind of professionalism that this takes. And I am one of thousands maybe millions of people my age who are just the same as me.

      @@narginscubing374 hey, someone who used to produce music here.
      If you use any tuning software correctly, it's impossible to hear it. You have to purposefully mess with it to make it noticeable, and, really, a blind chimpanzee can use tuning software correctly. Melodyne, especially, is very, very easy to use.
      Also, fun fact, most singers don't even use tuning outside of effects for their lead part - it's most often used in harmonies to have it be pristine. Quit being so crotchety.

    • @narginscubing374
      @narginscubing374 3 года назад +1

      jeleopard I’m sorry if I came off as crotchety, I agree that there is auto tune that’s tasteful and can help make chords and such sound more flawless. But what I was talking about was auto tune that has that robotic sound where it snaps to each note, or the kind where it has the ability to freely move but still sounds... off. Robotic is personally just kind of annoying to listen to, but it kind of gives me the heeby jeebies to listen to people like Adam Levine where it sounds almost human, but not quite there. Kind of like an uncanny valley effect but with the human voice
