That charging issue is soon to be resolved because GM and Ford signed agreements with Tesla. Thank you for the video Ben and the test drive and for driving a GM product.
Thank you for your quick review and opinion. I would very much appreciate your views on: 1. Highway performance and real life range. 2. Its ground clearance both with 20" and 22" wheels.
The attention to detail is unprecedented for American manufacturers. Cadillac absolutely took their time with this design, and it shows from every/all angles inside and out. Then you *drive* it and love that too!
I got up close w/2 of them yesterday. The console appears to float between those first class looking captains chairs. It had a huge fixed sunroof panel,I don't believe it opened.
I owned the first Model S in my town back in December 2012. I just sold my Model 3 performance and have a deposit on an AWD Lyriq, which I am test driving tomorrow. I've loved my Teslas but there are simply better cars out there now and I will not be a slave to any particular brand.
Other Lyriq advantages: SuperCruise with GPS guidance on divided highways vs. camera vision guidance anywhere is a much better concept; the coming HUD design is fantastic with a Augmented Reality flare; touch-differential controls beats iPad control designs that require taking eyes off of the road; and the quiet ride with Noise Cancellation 2. Tesla’s are nice and fun to drive, but now for reasons above, I’d lean strongly to Lyriq!
I’m pretty sure that’s a 2023 model. The handles pop open on the 24s. The 23s had the push handle to pop the door open. Also I didn’t think 23s came in AWD
Charging infrastructure can't be an argument for Tesla being better anymore because GM just struck a deal with Tesla to utilize their Charging Infrastructure starting in 2024, GM will be replacing their charging ports with Tesla's.
I have 3 years experience with a non Tesla EV, just purchased a Tesla Y performance. True, not a luxury car, but a perfect regular car. The price is lower (Model Y & 3). It has access to superchargers right now which are plentiful. Availability and practicality are a few reasons why you can’t piss on Teslas grave just yet.

It’s a nice car, I’ve been getting to wake Evie is more and more, even though it has not been out very long. I got my first ride in a Tesla two weeks ago when I took a model Y taxi in Amsterdam
Good luck finding one and if you do it won’t have any of these features. Dealers in Texas ordering black leather with no seat coolers and a sun roof? Why do I need heated anything? I need it cooled! 6-12 month wait to order one with Super Cruise?
Full disclosure I have a Tesla Model 3 Standard and a Tesla model S Long Range. The local Cadillac dealer is my neighbor. Cadillac gave me a Lyric for 3 days. the car had 2k miles. Shut down 2x while driving. Range would go to zero and force me to pull over. Would restart and then could drive. Super cruise simply would not work. Navigation unavailable unless you used Apple Carplay (which worked well) uninspired handling but good ride Cheap hard plastic. Very little leather. Interior was giving me entry level Chevy vibes with the extensive use of cheap plastic. 2 broken switches would not charge on 50 amp or more. If attempted would have to restart the charging procedure. Maybe I received a poor example, but this was unacceptable. Not a bad EV but to say better than Tesla? No Way. I would call it a good 1st Gen but still a good 8 to 10 years behind Tesla. Right now, the only EV that com close are the Hyundia and Kia EVs. The Tech from Ford, GM, and VW are a decade behind. Stuck in the "design by committee " philosophy that pushed Tesla even further ahead.
I'm really sure it's a great car.... if they actually made them... 100 last year, few thousand this year... but if you could drive "being on the list", we all would buy one.
Some constructive criticism - you have got to find another word besides "cool" - I stopped counting how many times you said it. Otherwise, a good, thorough review and I like your enthusiasm.
I would agree but you forgot to mention the 2024 Cadillac lyriq just went up in price …big time …The tech entry level has no massage seats /digital head display ..Luxury level 1 has no massage seats and speakers in seats and that costs 77k …U need to be in luxury 3 to get that ..For that money a bmw Ix and Audi etron is where I would go
At 65k it’s actually about 20 pct more than a comparable model y long range now. So no it no longer competes directly on price. If the y is priced the same which it was before elon decided to drop the price, this wins hands down. Lyriq is a better car overall with that said.
I'll get a test drive his week. To get the features of a Y, LR, you''d have to order a Luxury 2 at over $70, much more expensive vehicle. Comparable $ would be a base RWD Tech, vs. a MYP and Tesla wins that hands down.
Pretty nice review, but in certain segments you talked way too fast so at times you were difficult to understand. Also It would have been interesting to know the difference in range between the single and dual motor Lyriq.
I agree, especially with the glove box control. But I think it can be moved to the ‘tray’ at the bottom of the display for easy access. However, I think I might eventually want a bigger tray.
People who drive Cadillacs don’t want their glove box easily accessible, someone breaking into a Lyriq literally wouldn’t get into the glove box unless they knew the button was hidden inside the screen and premeditated prying the glove compartment open with something. It’s actually a great security feature and it cleans up the dash nicely. As long as the digital button works and I can leave it at the bottom of the screen where it stays at all times, I don’t see the issue.
.... without any incentives.... the Model Y Performance can be had for $52490+ plus tax and destination... given pricing strategy at Tesla... may go lower... 0-60 in 3.5 sec and 303 range... just saying...the Tesla is not marketed as a luxury car... so I really don't get why one would compare a care with a thousand buttons inside to a minimalist car focusing on day to day usability. Good luck getting a Lyriq tomorrow...
sales are down 10% in China,, they reduced the price of the Lyriq to $50k. The company has about 200 Billion in debt my and just borrowed another 200 Billion to retool for EV's. There sales across the globe are suffering
This was not a 2024. Tesla's supercharger advantage is no longer since Lyriq can be charged at the superchargers now. Plus, this comes with 2 years of free charging if opted for.
This car looks nice! Not at all fair to say it's better than Model Y in every way other than supercharger network though. Model Y is cheaper with all the price drops at a starting $47,490. It is also more efficient.
@@snowboarderskier5888 last year, it was impossible to get a lyriq so it's not a fair comparison... Anyway I like the lyriq and I'm seriously considering it but it's not close to being the obvious choice that this video makes it out to be.
I think I will keep my Y Perf for now, I find these reviews lack the useability of the car. There are a lot of creature comforts I like in the Tesla, like no push button start, auto folding mirrors as it goes in my garage, auto open garage door, Spotify, the navigation for trips. Also the Tesla app is very good. So I will watch this one on the sidelines for now and see how people like it.
I have a PHEV 2014 Caddy ELR. It is built on the Voltec system and has been extremely reliable. I bought mine used (38k on the odometer) so some of the early bugs had been addressed. I’m at 80k miles and I have not had a single repair done, only new tires and wiper blades. I do have times when the turn signal system will not show the blind-spot traffic warning in the mirrors but I know when that happens because the signal sound is partially muted. Electrical glitches are hard to locate and because this happens very rarely I have chosen to live with it. Thanks to regen the brakes still mic as new.
I bought a new 2017 CT6, kept it for four years and I didn't have ONE problem with it - it was a great car, and looked like the day I bought it when I sold it.

I thought the same: wait for AWD and the Tesla NACS port when I ordered mine last week. I called a couple days later and told the sales person to wait for AWD but not the NACS, I’ll just use an adapter.
Sectioned windows in the front doors is very lame, it reminds me to the old civic 2008, the mycadillac does nothing, podcasts? google news? that is nonsese just allow the user to mirror their phone. Seriusly look in the aftermarket there are thousands of linking devices because all of us got a screen in a car but you can do nothing with it. The door handles are a bad version of the one in Teslas, instead of making it simplier now you need to press it and then hold it from the edge? I don't think this is better than a Tesla.
It's exciting to see so many things done right by Cadillac, and a great value. But there are few Lyriqs in the real world, so the dealer price may not be a bargain. And you have to wonder about Cadillac reliability. The Lyriq might be reliable, but it is all new and except for the XT4, which gets a 3 out of 5, all Cadillac models are rated 2 out of 5 for reliability by Consumers Reports. Hope for the best but wait a year to buy.

onstar doesn't work, universal garage remote only works sometimes, screen hard to read in the sun, android auto doesnt work, UI glitch where I can't add my phone after I removed it, free evgo promised and not delivered, sirius radio stuck in loading state.
Ben, can you tell me if the Lyriq has any towing specs? Thank you and great video!!!
they lied to you this is a 2023 not a 2024. The 2024 have door handles that pop out as opposed to last years button that pops the door. Other then that beautiful car great review cadillac is back
It’s a nice car, I’ve been getting to wake Evie is more and more, even though it has not been out very long.
I got my first ride in a Tesla two weeks ago when I took a model Y taxi in Amsterdam
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a TESLA killer. But I think it all comes down to preference and who like Cadillac EV over TESLA.
Fantastic car
Excellent car❤
Navigation unavailable unless you used Apple Carplay (which worked well)
uninspired handling but good ride
Cheap hard plastic. Very little leather. Interior was giving me entry level Chevy vibes with the extensive use of cheap plastic.
2 broken switches
would not charge on 50 amp or more.
I drove this earlier today. Did you notice a weird warp-like view when looking out from the bottom or side?
This is a bit larger than a Y.
But can it push thru the snow in Iowa? The other models this size can't. Really tired of putting spare tires in the back for weight...
It's a 2023 model, the door opening mechanism is changed for 2024. Good review though!
The thing I don’t like is the glove box and light controls are in the infotainment system, I just don’t like that at all, those should be real things
This car is NOT a 2024. The tell is the front door with the "fin" to open the door and the handles are 2023. The 2024 handles pop out, no push.
.... without any incentives.... the Model Y Performance can be had for $52490+ plus tax and destination... given pricing strategy at Tesla... may go lower...
Their
Was the interior Noir? If so, it does look more like dark gray rather than black which is great. Can you confirm?
How about reliability
I don’t care for EVs for GM is killing the EV game with this and the Hummer
With GM recent announcement with charging with Tesla, the Lyriq is a much better option.
He failed to mention you have to pay extra for the car to charge when Tesla charges at 250 and Hyundai at 350
Folding mirrors and advanced air bags are standard on most luxury cars, so they don’t mention it.
Saw one in the showroom Wow. Videos or pics don’t do it Justice, in person it’s a looker for sure.
Ben hardy I got a question for you if you have a 5.7 hemi which gas is better to put inn87 or 89...or the type of gas dosnt matter
240v is the new 87, DC fast charging is the new 93 octane.
thats not a 2024. the 2024 handle pop out automatically as you approach the car. the 2024 also doesn't come with the truck cover..
Looks great, but what is everyone’s reliable experience with Cadillac?
FYI, the drawer underneath the radio is a wireless phone charger
Is there an actual AWD button or tab on the screen?
I’m curious to hear from Lyriq owners about reliability and overall experience.
The Cadillac is more expensive with less range
how is that a Tesla killer?
I just hope elon forces gm to keep the "open the butthole" command😂
Nice car and good interior ❤
I put a deposit on this car last year and finally got to see one live at an event and found it really small gor what i wanted, plus im rethinking 100% electric
I don't think you think much at all.
You replied to another post saying you’ve thought Cadillacs were awful since 2015. I spy a troll/shill.
@Abu Dhabi Dude a) I'm sure I didn't say that
B) if I did as you claim, that was 8 years ago and I'd be thsn allowed to change my mind. Keep the name calling for your mother.
@@MichelMawon4982 it was a reply you made to another comment on this video!🤣🤡
Great video and car , will test it out . Tesla is a garage , hate driving that car
What is the real world driving range?
I thought the door handles changed on 2024 models?
I thought the 24's had different door handles?
How do u have AWD already WOW. I have an awd order. Maybe I wait for the Tesla plug on the lyriq.
I thought the same: wait for AWD and the Tesla NACS port when I ordered mine last week. I called a couple days later and told the sales person to wait for AWD but not the NACS, I’ll just use an adapter.
I wonder what’s the Cadillac Escalade 2024 will look like this car?
Google
Looking for a smaller version and less expensive.
“Tesla Killer”, and taking market share away from Tesla. Let’s see how many they make. Jaguar’s “Tesla Killer” just got the axe. 😂
Just remember Tesla is set out to transition the industry away from ICE vehicles and if someone builds a more compelling vehicle then thats great!
That's not a 2024 model, right? 2024 doesn't have that black thingie above the door handle he was just grabbing to open the door 3:44
Tesla has lost 20-30% of their market share this year? What are you smoking? The "inferior" model Y is the Best Selling car in the USA and the world
Tesla will never be a Caddy!! This is my next car have a xt5 now and love it!! Tesla’s are ugly
Floating center column ???
No BJ .
You didn't show the driving action, massage action, action action
Good cars
Just wait for Hummer and Silverado release Tesla will be wiping floors
This video is not accurate. An awd with the akg system is not even close to 64k. This is atleast 70k. That aint the right sticker
Are you on drugs?
Really wish it had carplay
The Lyriq has CarPlay and Android Auto
It does have CarPlay.
This is the 2023
After many many “cools” you lost me
Take off the Gopro and mount the camera on something solid. And your head doesn't count.
Tesla's are overhyped....
😮😮😮
This isn’t a 2024 it’s 100% a 2023. Please fix this
