I just rewatched Bad Batch skipping the bad episodes (about 40% of the show) and it's pretty decent that way. If season 3 doesn't have any of the fluff, MauLer may actually get the upper tier of CW Star Wars

People expecting Theory to rage when Mando movie comes out bad, I wish to remind you that: Not only did Theory love Mando S2 and early Book of Boba Fett, he called episode 2 of the book "THE BEST STAR WARS". He watched it as it came out, and never went back to it. Also, "I thought it was dope" was his argument for why Anakin shenanigans in Ahsoka were good for the show. I fully expect him to like Mando movie.
Hope is, that Ryan and MauLer could chip away at his optimistic blindness enough each monday before that movie comes out, that he might actually see it through a different lens by then.

I'm with you, Mauler. Syril Karn is a fantastic character in Andor. He's the hero in his own story yet in reality he's just another cog in the machine. A nobody trying to make a difference. That, honestly, is more endearing than your typical 'hero' nowadays. He's almost like Luke Skywalker was before he joined the Rebellion, and it's ironic Syril got a job thanks to his uncle.
I immediately liked him. He cares way too much about his job, tries too hard. That makes him slightly cringe to everyone around him but to a viewer it makes him endearing. Like how he adjusted his uniform by hand. Or how he tries to do an inspirational speech, but he has zero charisma and has to be saved by his hype-man buddy. You kinda want him to succeed because his life really sucks, especially when he has to move in with his mom, but you also don't want him to become a useful asset to the Empire because ... they're the Empire. I guess I can just relate to a lot of his experiences a little too well (not the simping for an evil supervisor lady bit, but pretty much everything else)
I’m sorry but the Bad Batch are the Delta Squad sold at discount. Hunter is Boss, Tech is Fixer, Crosshair is Sev, and Wrecker is Scorch. Except Delta Squad had more personality. Additionally while I accept these as very basic archetypes, I think it would’ve been more interesting for their mutations to present themselves in different ways beyond Big Man, Smart Man, Killer Man, and Leader Man. Then we could’ve still had Delta Squad on the back burner and a new group with different archetypes.

I’m assuming because we see the commandos twice and never at their full potential, and that the Arc Troopers don’t quite get quite to “best of the best” levels. Of all the Roger Moore Bond films, I honestly love The Man With The Golden Gun the most. Mainly because of Christopher Lee as Francisco Scaramanga, the China setting, the car chase with the actual in camera bridge jump, the whole duel in the 3rd act, and the Golden Gun itself which is an awesome weapon in which it can also be a lighter and a pen. It’s a fun movie.
Scaramanga is a very cool bad guy for sure with one of the best villain lairs in any 007 film. I heard that in an early draft of the film, each of the individual parts that make up the Golden Gun were supposed to be gadgets that do different things.
@SolarDragon007 As much as I love 2003 Clone Wars, I'd think by the EFAP standards it be considered bad, unfortunately. A lot of plot armor. Force powers and abilities not shown in the movies. Stuff that happens that is never brought up again, i.e.. Anakin's force vision. But holy shit is it a blast. And it is way more in line with the movies than the 2008 show.
8:36 is why i think this show works so well. The range of opinions and reactions on the panel is so wide. From Ryan's immediate hatred of what he calls the "bastardization" of the EU, to Theory's almost unending optimism for the future, to Mauler's approach of judging each individual story/show/movie based on its writing/charachters. I really like this dynamic.
Part of why i was fine with Ahsoka in TCW was because in the order 66 scene I thought she was that young looking jedi on the speeder bike, so the entire time I was watching TCW I figured she'd died in 66 seeing her in Rebel's really soured me on the whole thing

You'd think Windu especially would shit all over Anakin for that one. Also, what did Anakin assume was going to happen? He sees a clone commander responding to Palpatine, saying "Execute Order 66". And let's accept that maybe Anakin assumes Ahsoka would be safe, that just adds the extra question of why the Clones tried to kill her in the first place? SWT seems like a nice guy but he's a bit of an airhead. It seems like he never really hears or understands the questions from Ryan and MauLer properly and the fact he has to do head canon to justify the bad writing from Disney is serious cope. I still had some hope for Star Wars even after Rise of Skywalker because I enjoyed The Mandalorian Seasons 1-2 (Haven't rewatched them so they probably don't hold up) but other than Andor they've pissed all there good will away for me. I was hyped for Boba Fett returning but they did nothing with him except make him a joke. It's why I don't want Mace Windu returning. I don't need another goddamn deconstruction of a pre established character in Star Wars. Andor Season 2 is the only thing I have a sliver of hope for.

Really happy you guys are doing this show. I always noticed on other streams how much SW lore knowledge Ryan has. This is a perfect panel, as you three are very different.
I'm with you, Mauler. Syril Karn is a fantastic character in Andor. He's the hero in his own story yet in reality he's just another cog in the machine. A nobody trying to make a difference.
That, honestly, is more endearing than your typical 'hero' nowadays. He's almost like Luke Skywalker was before he joined the Rebellion, and it's ironic Syril got a job thanks to his uncle.
I think same goes for De Meero also. Almost mirrored image. :D Toxic couple in a rise? We will see.
I immediately liked him. He cares way too much about his job, tries too hard. That makes him slightly cringe to everyone around him but to a viewer it makes him endearing.
Like how he adjusted his uniform by hand. Or how he tries to do an inspirational speech, but he has zero charisma and has to be saved by his hype-man buddy.
You kinda want him to succeed because his life really sucks, especially when he has to move in with his mom, but you also don't want him to become a useful asset to the Empire because ... they're the Empire.
I guess I can just relate to a lot of his experiences a little too well (not the simping for an evil supervisor lady bit, but pretty much everything else)

I’m sorry but the Bad Batch are the Delta Squad sold at discount. Hunter is Boss, Tech is Fixer, Crosshair is Sev, and Wrecker is Scorch. Except Delta Squad had more personality.
Additionally while I accept these as very basic archetypes, I think it would’ve been more interesting for their mutations to present themselves in different ways beyond Big Man, Smart Man, Killer Man, and Leader Man. Then we could’ve still had Delta Squad on the back burner and a new group with different archetypes.

I’m assuming because we see the commandos twice and never at their full potential, and that the Arc Troopers don’t quite get quite to “best of the best” levels. While I can agree about the commandos I think the Arc Troopers are ok. It’s hard to make them stand out when so many protagonist clones are Arcs.
With all the talking about the desert analogy I can't help but think about how can Mauler sleep at night knowing that at least somebody watched his Force Awaken series and perished before it was completed.

But Theory's not wrong, because he does realize that Andor is the far superior show.

Of all the Roger Moore Bond films, I honestly love The Man With The Golden Gun the most. Mainly because of Christopher Lee as Francisco Scaramanga, the China setting, the car chase with the actual in camera bridge jump, the whole duel in the 3rd act, and the Golden Gun itself which is an awesome weapon in which it can also be a lighter and a pen. It’s a fun movie.
Scaramanga is a very cool bad guy for sure with one of the best villain lairs in any 007 film. I heard that in an early draft of the film, each of the individual parts that make up the Golden Gun were supposed to be gadgets that do different things.

@SolarDragon007 As much as I love 2003 Clone Wars, I'd think by the EFAP standards it be considered bad, unfortunately. A lot of plot armor. Force powers and abilities not shown in the movies. Stuff that happens that is never brought up again, i.e.. Anakin's force vision. But holy shit is it a blast. And it is way more in line with the movies than the 2008 show.

You'd think he'd be like, "Oh shit if the clones are gonna kill the Jedi, maybe the 1000 clone troopers given to Ahsoka.......... are gonna try to kill her."
@@jcore0981 The war is already over and commander Rex is leading the mission. Windu got the report that mission was a success, so he was fine with it. Palpatine said to Anakin "The Jedi order has betrayed the Republic", which Ahsoka is not a part of.

And the problem is, I don't buy Windu just accepting that. The dude despises Anakin. I don't care what the Clone Wars portrays. He severely distrusts him. This would just add massive fuel to the fire. And let's accept that maybe Anakin assumes Ahsoka would be safe, that just adds the extra question of why the Clones tried to kill her in the first place? Either she is a Jedi, in which case he would be concerned. Or she isn't a Jedi, in which case the Clones should not have tried to kill her. You can't have it both ways.

I still had some hope for Star Wars even after Rise of Skywalker because I enjoyed The Mandalorian Seasons 1-2 (Haven't rewatched them so they probably don't hold up) but other than Andor they've pissed all there good will away for me. I was hyped for Boba Fett returning but they did nothing with him except make him a joke. It's why I don't want Mace Windu returning. I don't need another goddamn deconstruction of a pre established character in Star Wars. Andor Season 2 is the only thing I have a sliver of hope for.

It's really clear that he has virtually no involvement with Bad Batch. The good episodes in this show are so much better than anything Filoni ever wrote. It's ironic that Bad Batch is half decent because Filoni was too busy make crappy live action stuff

I'd not seen the original it refers to, but it was still an informative look at how Star Wars is structured, and a thorough debunking of the myth. I'm an editor myself, it drives me nuts when I hear people misconstrue the writer->director->editor relationship in movie making, and using Tommy Wiseau as an example of how it doesn't work was a fantastic demonstration of what editors can't do.
