@@R0CKDRIG0 Ooooh, thank you! I might just have not gotten to the point where they talk about it in the video then, I'm only 20 minutes in. Honestly that could be really cool!
It's actually refreshing to hear someone ask "Oh my god, dude, what the hell are you talking about for 7-8 hours?" but actually in a curious and funny way as opposed to a snipey and dismissive way
The writers from the old Expanded Universe, (Legends), were smart enough to write out the force ghosts very early on. Timothy Zahn made it clear in "Heir to the Empire" that Luke was now on his own since the force ghosts had fulfilled their purpose in guiding him and vanished into the great beyond.
Yeah, several of the writers came up with good ways for avoiding issues that came from the Prequels having not been released at the time: primarily being that there was such little Jedi knowledge that Luke could find and he basically had to make things up as he went along based on what little he had been able to learn.
Reading those books now and it's amazing how they are perfect sequels *while* setting up the prequel trilogy, introducing Coruscant and expanding on the Clone Wars, order 66 and the existance of the jedi sect. Also Obi-Wan's ghost disappearing at the beginnimg was an amazing scene to set up Luke's arc through the story, the fact that he has to rebuild the Jedi order while not knowing what it is, and add to that he having to train Leia and potentially her children is fucking amazing.
I have to admit that I was someone who had a warped view of who Star Wars Theory was. I'm really glad that I've been able to get a better sense of who he is through these conversations. I still don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I think I've gotten a much better understanding of where he's coming from.
It’s amazing what can be achieved when both sides come together, forgive any misunderstandings or miscommunications or misrepresentations and just treat eachother like adults. Wish we had more of this online
What does theory mean "what would you talk for about 8 hours" It's literally the LOTR trilogy, there's week long college courses taught on it specifically. It's mad easy to find stuff
I don't get that on the basis of the runtime for the LOTR extended in the first place. There are tons of rabbit holes to lose yourself inside of when going over the best trilogy ever conceived.
We all know they could go for even longer. We're just getting the cut down version. The entire length of the extended editions add up to 12 hours themselves after all.
@@Daemondog I bet they could do a full 24 hours on it and not run out of shit to talk about, especially with how much they like to segue away from stuff for a bit
Man. MauLer is just the real deal. Look at this guy go, building bridges, making friends, and just SLAYING at the content game. He may not have millions of subscribers, but I think he's playing the long (ha) game. He has a dedicated fan base, a strong fellowship (ha) of fellow creators, and there's no disputing the quality of his work. Absolutely inspiring. Keep going Longman, but remember to come up for air. Haha And mad respect to SWT for just hanging out, being willing to talk. MauLer and EFAP have been villainized since the beginning in the Star Wars discussion. SWT rises above the sea of shills and hacks just by being willing to talk. An all around heartwarming experience as a viewer, to say nothing of the actual discussion.
@@yagamifire7861 Ditto. I think he's got a blockhead's view of Star Wars, haha, but I honestly think we might agree on the big picture items, and the fact he's willing to hear people out and just shoot the shit with a stranger says a lot about him.
I stood up from TLJ and looked at my wife and said, "holy shit I fucking hated that movie." It was an instantaneous reaction for me, it took a few days of mulling it over to really put my finger on exactly what I hated about it but I knew the second it ended that they had murdered star wars and this thing I was watching was a shambling corpse wearing the skin suit of star wars.
For me, from the first 5 minutes with the hokey humor and no one taking anything seriously, I felt like I was watching a Steven Universe episode. A _bad_ Steven Universe episode. Not a good start. Then the battle progresses and it gets serious out of nowhere, that's alright. The ships are dumb but at least it's serious. Then Finn bonkies his head and dribbles everywhere. When it got to Luke, I was on board with him being a depressed hermit (but it's explanation better be fucking good); where the movie started dying on me was that that's _all_ there was to Luke's character. No curiosity, no surprisingly-witty shutdowns that make you go "oh shit, maybe we _are_ being dumbasses right now", no complexity. Just the most surface-level "I'm old, get off my lawn" dialogue who could be anybody. Low-effort and low thought put into why things are the way things are. By the time Snoke gets killed by the oldest mind-reading trick in the book that every 7-year-old playing toys has already thought of and made workarounds for, but he falls for that shit immediately; I audibly yelled "WHO WAS THAT GUY? We've been waiting 2 movies to find out what this guy's deal is, but fuck it, he's _just dead now._ This is bullshit."
@@samwallaceart288 same for me, the first joke was like "heh heh, silly joke, a bit below SW seriousness level though", after that it was "no, no, stop already... what the fuck, no, what is this, oh cool visual, no no no no, shit, what the.. fuck this shit"
When TLJ came out, I was a complete normie to Star Wars. When I watched TLJ in the theater, I still felt like I was watching a dumpster fire. It just got worse and worse. The Leia flying in space scene made me laugh out loud before I realized no one else was laughing and it wasn't intended to be funny. Luke as an angry hermit that Rey had to talk sense into made me mad for reasons I couldn't explain at the time. I just hated that Rey, the newbie, had no flaws or struggles. She was not even uninteresting. She was annoying. I wanted to like her when I first saw trailers for TFA but there's nothing to like about her. Really disappointing.
18:16 - 20:07 I like the idea of Leia beginning to take things a little far when it comes to wiping out the Empire, maybe even mirroring her father in her pursuit of order in the galaxy, culminating in her talking to Anakin’s ghost and learning to forgive and reconcile with her father.
Difficult to express exactly how much enjoyment I get from seeing two of my favorite content creators just chatting-particularly, two I wouldn’t have expected to interact!
The recent EFAPs may have been shorter, but that’s only because the Longman keeps stretching along the chronological passage of time to feature in so many other podcasts. Appreciate you sir 🙏🏾
Was actually thinking a weekly thingy with him, or whatever you guys are comfy with would be dope moofler! Thanks for the holiday joy! :3 Now, back to editing you!! *cracks whip*
The ongoing redemption arc of Star Wars Theory warms the crystallised husk that used to be my heart. This alliance between the Longman and the Star War is pleasing to me.
Well, is it waking up if this guy you've been against for so long is seeing gradually more success and support than you, and your own platform and future profitability from is dwindling by comparison? Because, while I love to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, *every* time, SWT and Mauler have talked, at least that theyve recorded and published, it's been like... he does a lot of inquiring about the business side of the longman. In this very podcast he takes some time to try and sell mauler on a pitch, which like, apparently he asked mauler about in private too since mauler apparently sent him voice work examples of his over discord in private. It's like... imagine if Cinematic Roberto appeared on a podcast with him, and after a comparatively brief discussion on Willow being bad, Roberto's interactions with Mauler were always stinged with "hey man that's cool, so like, how dod you do longman? Does that work? Ive always wanted to do longman content but ive always been afraid of it, ya know, gotta make a living afterall haha ohoh and also, speaking of, im working on this thing, right? Its this cool thing, has anyone told you you have a cool voice dude? Have you done voice work before? Well cool because like, I have this thing im working on, you wanna be in it? Id love for you to be in it dude, you could be..." I'm inherently suspicious. Sure, yeah, STJ may in fact be like Jay or IHE or TRO who see the light of the Long. But, ya know, he could also be looking to use the long for his own ends. Only time shall tell.
@@nananamamana3591 What a strange reply. I have not been against Star Wars Theory for so long; I have not been against him at all, ever. It is Mauler's content has led me here. He (SWT) does indeed have more success and profitability than me but as I do not have any platform or channel so your comment is a non sequitur. I do not know who Cinematic Roberto is so that reference is lost on me. I do not know who IHE or TRO are. The only Jay I watch content from is Drunk3PO. Maybe I am misreading your reply and you mean that SWT is pretending to wake up so he can pivot to still make money from Star Wars but do this with 'a new set of friends'. I understand this/your meaning better if this is what you implied but I do not agree with you nonetheless. SWT seems like a mostly genuine guy (by internet standards) and I have no reason to believe otherwise. I do, however, respect someone who is inherently suspicious, as this is my mindset also. I did notice the 'job offers/lets work together' stuff but disregarded it and it does warrant closer scrutiny. Most importantly for me though is that I enjoy watching these two chat together about a subject that is interesting to me and that they seem to genuinely and authentically love. For me that is good content and gets my click. As an aside, I love your YTube name; it feels like we are siblings. Edit: tldr - the answer to the Q in your opening para is yes.
@@nnmmnmmnmnnm Yeah, we do seem to have a had a misunderstanding here. When I said "If this guy you've been against for so long..." i wasn't reffering to *you* and in you, youtube commenter nmmmmmmmmmm, I meant SWT and the relationship he's had with Mauler for sometime, which was born from Mauler's exhaustive and critical coverage of Star Wars, which was pointing out flaws and the depressive state of quality of Star Wars as a product, and the poor quality of the stories being told. This was counter to SWT's content and his stance on the state of Star Wars for a long time, and SWT's coverage often created strawmen out of Mauler, and those who hold similar opinions, as an element of the fandom that should be ignored and/or disregarded. His (SWT) has since changed, slowly, and while I'm willing to believe his explanations for his prior "star wars is doing great guys, dave filoni and john favreu are great guys theyre saving star wars lets all support them and everything they do everything is great, shut up about its flaws" stance, amounting to essentially "oh well we were so starved for ANY like, even halfway decent content that something with *any* redeemable qualities at all was like a buffet and a mercy, Im the biggest star wars channel so it felt like i really needed to be a positive element" I *do* temper that benefit I grant with the demonstrable loss of the profitability of that mindset. Espousing the virtues of Star Wars, regardless of the product's actual quality, is no longer as profitable as calling out it's flaws. Mauler has *always* called out the quality, good or bad, in star wars while SWT has been broadly positive even in the face of clear flaws. *MY* main question wasn't more to you, specifically, but to the greater idea. For instance, *I* would not say SWT is "waking up". Especially given his responses to Mauler, where he insists his feelings on the matter had always been critical, but he didn't feel he could, or should, express it, when Mauler has made a meteoric rise by stating his opinion on the topic, even if it's unpopular, backed by qualitive evidence from the work he is critiquing, whether or not his opinion on it overall is positive or negative, he's always been honest. By SWT's own admission, he has not been honest about his opinions on Star Wars until most recently, which is interesting to me, because that directly coincides with the loss of profitability of praising star wars meritlessly. He's had opinions on Andor he's espoused that suggest he didn't like it, meanwhile he's told Mauler he does like it, and I'll say this much, he able to tell Mauler what he DID like about it so I don't think he is like some people who say they DONT like Andor but HAVENT even actually seen it. On the topic of "Jay", "IHE", and "TRO" these are the abbreviations for other youtubers; JayExci, I Hate Everything, and The Right Opinion respectively. These are *also* people who have had opinions counter to Mauler's who, upon being asked simply and plainly about them, where and how they came to hold them, and if they do maintain those opinions in the face of evidence that directly contradicts them have come to see the merit in Mauler's stance, and method, even if they do continue to disagree if they enjoy something or not (which is fine, it doesnt matter if you ENJOY something or not, that's never what's being argued really), and all three have, much like SWT, been on podcasts with Mauler, and have joined him in videos, and he has joined them in videos. I cite them as people who have been on the "opposite" side to Mauler, much like SWT, but came over after talking with him. The difference I aimed to highlight is in how those interactions went, and have continue to gone, especially in regards to collaboration. It doesnt seem like they gave Mauler the opportunity to talk to them cynically, and they havent seemed to use the collaborative opportunity to try and get him to do work for them, even though Mauler has offered, quite in the same fashion as SWT has done -- this could simply be a difference in how each person approaches their content creation and is absolutely not any indication of character or intent, but, as I've outlined, SWT has admitted to not stating his full opinion before, and his change of honesty comes at the most profitable time to do so. That could be a matter of coincidence, or a matter of business, I can only make the observations with the information as presented. As for "Cinematic Roberto" that's a more a meme. MovieBob is a youtuber who has been against Mauler, not just like, in a sense of opinion but in actively acting his reputation and character, for a long time. I used him as an example assuming you were aware of him, which was unfair of me. The hypothetical was presented as an example of a person who was *quite* against Mauler, in the same way SWT was against the "fandom menace" so called, who were actively critiquing and finding the failings in the star wars media being produced that SWT was covering positively, as a grounds to illustrate my fears and the basis of my suspcions. If MovieBob were to suddenly have a change of heart, and have Mauler on his show, or ask to come onto his (Mauler's) show, and was suddenly very reasonable, very agreeable, and within a few short weeks was already trying to recruit him (Mauler) for an independent project, I would have questions about the motive. As I said, the audience response to baselessly positive Star Wars coverage has become unreliable for revenue. It was once very profitable to go "with the grain" of the positive feedback on Star Wars in the media, and that is no longer becoming the case as more and more are dissatisfied with how the series are developing. SWT could have, at any time in the last 6 years, invited Mauler onto his podcast, or, ask to be on his, so they could talk Star Wars. This meeting didn't *have* to be happening in this turbulent time for Star Wars creators, this didn't have to be happening just as he (SWT) is looking to produce some independent content he needs voice talent for. But, back then, giving Mauler a platform to call the quality of Star Wars into question was a bad business move for people who were building their platform on the idea that star wars had a bright future in the hands of these creators. Now that it's not a bad business move, suddenly, Mauler's a cool guy who you want to voice a cool character on your new project. Keeping in mind, SWT and Mauler *have* friends in common. Nerdrotic, Anna (ThatStarWarsGirl), this was a meeting that *could* have happened sooner. The general air when they (Mauler and SWT) first met on the podcast also speaks to some level of bias from him. The way he says "we don't get to see your face?" is an awfully charged way to greet a guest. Again, I'd *like* to given SWT the benefit of the doubt, but I do not sincerely believe he thought he'd like Mauler. I think he assumed Mauler was some Star Wars anti with a political agenda he could demolish on his podcast with two of his friends for a free bit of content. Again, this is like, my full on tin-foil hat, worst case scenario read. Theory is one who has to juggle tying his brand, his job, to the interest in a brand that people are souring on with being a fan of that brand himself and wanting to see it do well, with the reality that it is not doing well and all that implies for him. I'm very likely wrong, and SWT is just a guy who heard Mauler made like, a 40hr video series on why Star Wars is dumb and said like "yeah ok whatever" for a while, until his own fans demanded the two meet. It's very likely SWT just really approaches his content creation proactively and is excited to have a new person to talk Star Wars with. But, I'm a little too jaded to not express my concerns, even if, really, they don't amount to anything, since it's not like they'd matter if they were true.
The long form audiences are typically people like me, that listen to podcasts/long videos while they are working. Gives something interesting to have on in the background
I really prefer long videos bc of the way I consume content, my phones usually in the other room plugged in and I’m just listening in my ear bud. Can do housework, look after the kids, all that. Pod casts are good for that for sure but most of my fave creators are on RUclips. 🤷♀️
I generally prefer short videos only because long videos tend to be unedited and meandering. You need to have Mauler level skill to keep the substance going for that long (or good editing)
Boyega became a cartoon character so he could be safe for the widest audience while Disney could claim to be progressive. Something similar was the reason Chappelle left, he has spoken eloquently about it. Spike Lee’s Bamboozled looks at that, albeit with the subtlety of a wrecking ball.
"What are you gonna talk about for 8 hours?!?!" My dude, you have an entire channel with years of daily content based around one franchise. I think they can talk about a trilogy for 8 hours.
1:20:00 This is my experience, too. TLJ didn't just split the fanbase. It killed any investment that kids had. After TFA, Star Wars was back with a whole new generation of fans. You don't see many, anymore, and when you do, they just like the cute alien baby or the guy with the helmet. It's only aesthetic. My daughter was a HUGE Star Wars fan at a young age. She adored the OT, really liked TCW, and part of my support of TFA was because she liked it so much. She had costumes and posters and Star Wars themed birthday parties and tons of toys - all at her request. After TLJ, she just dropped it all and didn't care, anymore. She watched TRoS, but not much involvement for the year or two before that and she didn't care for TRoS. She still says she likes Star Wars, but her investment is obviously pretty much destroyed. That's the legacy of the sequel trilogy.
@@metalsludge8205 Truth. But only as Baby Yoda. The general public doesn't care about about that Grogu shit or anything he's involved in. They just think he's cute. My grandma has consistently confused Star Wars and Star Trek my whole life, but she knows and likes Baby Yoda. I wish they'd move on from the kid, but bringing him in the first place worked out brilliantly.
Heck grogu was an absolute accident for Disney. They were caught completely unprepared in grogu merchandise. People wanted baby Yoda merchandise and had to find it on Etsy for the first few months.
Watching TLJ in the theaters is one of my most fondest memories. Me and my brother went on opening weekend and we laughed are asses off the entire time and we absolutely lost it when Rose "saved" Finn by crashing into him and then says that BS line "We're going to win this war not by fighting what we hate, but saving what we love!" Absolute Cinema.
Theory: There's 'Longman' and then there's *that* ... what could you even talk about for all that time? Mauler, looking at *just* his TFA videos, equaling something close to 12hrs long, *not* including podcast stuff where he talks about it, *just* his own TFA series. Mauler: Ehhh, y-you find stuff...
Having watched Your content over the years mauler out of all the other RUclipsrs I watched along side you that you eventually ended up collaborating with, be that Gary, drinker, or any of the FNT crew. Each time I was stoked to see people I followed end up working together but this one really hit home. Glad to see you thriving in your craft and with other people I enjoy watching. A genuine well done on all the work you’ve done and surrounding yourself with good people.
Star Wars Theory, you should absolutely see Godzilla Minus One while it is in theaters for multiple reasons. 1) It is a good and fun movie with a good message and respect for the franchise, 2) It is a movie that is best experienced in theaters, and 3) The director was influenced by Star Wars and really wants to write and direct a Star Wars film. So I would be very interested if you think he would be a good candidate for a Star Wars movie.
That makes a lot of sense; the movie is very Star Wars-esque how it takes time with its characters, has your small hero gang lead a large army into a grand-stakes showdown, devastating low points to motivate the story, and great balance of relatable humor and apocalyptic threats being taken seriously. Star Wars NEEDS that treatment again
Can't wait for the LotR streams. Watched all three extended cuts day after day at the cinema a month ago, and I'm still riding that high. Love your content.
"Doing it for the whole trilogy?" "Yes, it'll be like a 7-8 hour video." "WHAT?!?" 7-8 hours is honestly pretty short for a longman video on an entire trilogy, my friend.
Not to mention that its Lord of the Rings! (Not to be confused with the 2023 Masterpiece Lord of Ring: Gollum) 8 hours is incredibly short for these movies!
The long content is great to play in the background while doing something else. Personally I can't play Minecraft or Rimworld without it. I feel like I could be doing so much more at the same time.
Most writers struggle to write a 2-hour movie and then those barely two hour movie ideas get stretched into an eight-episode miniseries with as much advertisement as possible between the episodes. Every Disney Plus show is a movie with 6 hours of fluff
When driving to work, or to the shops, I need 10 minute videos. When having a day off and I'm building models, browsing the net, fixing stuff, cleaning, cooking and etc, I need hour(s) long videos.
Sounds like Disney is planning to rebrand jedis as Skywalkers. "I'm a Skywalker, she's a Skywalker, we are all Skywalkers!". I'm holding back the vomit now, just typing this shit!
hell, take it a step further, I want an EU fan to come in and explain just how & why the EU managed to do that the Sequel Trilogy failed to do and why it's even more enraging that they keep stealing ideas directly from the EU. I think MauLer would get a lot of insight into that era of Star Wars that Disney decided to just throw away in favor of their new trash, and how it makes it even more enraging in what was thrown out that made the stories, the vehicles, the worlds, and even the characters from the EU so beloved in the first place.
Guesting on each other's podcasts every _other_ week is the way to go. Let each other bump into other connections and keep it loose; we don't need another weekly schedule, just IMO Lowkey feels like SWT is looking for free content; don't over-promise, Maulie
In my opinion, a once a month podcast would be for the best. Since they'd have a month of Star Wars news to fall back on to keep the conversation going. Was already seeing dead air moments in this with them trying to find ways to break the silence.
yea, or once every 2-3 weeks... as for SWT looking for free content... i think its more about him looking for friends.. hes literaly the most famous sw youtuber, in regard of the popularity grind game, he doesnt need mauler or anybody since obviously he has 20x more followers and views
@@boletop6204 Idk man, Theory seems blackpilled on new content, and is looking to piggieback off the up-and-comer MauLer who's better at generating conversation on old stuff; the way he makes it a negotiation that MauLer should be his co-host weekly otherwise, it's not worth the trouble; that's sus to me. Compare how they talk about Fan Film EFAP TV; MauLer's all "yeah, that could be fun to get some mates together and ask you questions about it" while Theory's like "well I can't make money off of it, but I won't get mad if anyone else wants to make a reaction to it, that's advertising and hey if you make money off it, fair enough" The whole mentality and relationship to the content is totally different between them. As a once-in-a-while get together, they're a great meeting of fanbases to discuss the larger issues; but as a regular program, their motivations and business model are incompatible.
1:44:33 "What time do you normally sleep?" Silly Star Wars Theory. Mauler doesn't sleep! He recharges his batteries via three main avenues: drinking his rhino milk, raging at bad movies, and taking in power from the Big Gay.
"I always figured long form content was like 10 minutes." 💀💀💀 No, people don't get bored. Some people, but I got work to do. I don't have time to find a new video every ten minutes. I got 8 hours and some cool guys talking about nerd shit is perfect.
Mauler, Kotor 2 is the greatest piece of Star Wars media in the franchise, and Kreia is the greatest Star Wars character in the franchise. You need to play the game simply for her. It is phenomenal, and I do not use hyperbole. I would watch a playthrough IMMEDIATELY.
I think some long form RUclips creators forget that people don't always sit and consume their hours long videos all in one sitting. It takes me days usually. But I love them! Also, maybe it's just because I follow more sci-fi/fantasy lore centric channels, but 8 hour videos are actually more common than one might think. And 3-4 hour long videos are the average. Which is probably why I watch MauLer content. For example, it's normal for lore videos of the KOTOR saga to be anywhere from 3-8 hours long. So, honestly, I don't know why MauLer doing an 8 hour video on the LOTR trilogy is surprising. To ten hours and beyond! 😂 Also, shout out to one of my favorite Star Wars lore channels, Noxxarian, who has made my absolute favorite video based on the entirety of Revan's life that clocks in at 8 hours and 59 minutes. He also has it broken down into smaller, less intimidating videos. Spoilers obviously for anyone who decides to check it out.
21:59 I remember going to see TLJ with a group of friends. One of them asks “how did you like it?” And my wife said “he hated it”. I didn’t tell her I hated it, and I had never said a disparaging thing about Star Wars up to that point. I was a huge fan. Every pet I had up to now even was named after Star Wars (shmi, Luke, Leia, ren) and I have a storm trooper tattoo. She could tell I hated it just from the noises I was making in the theater. When Luke threw the light saber I’m pretty sure I said “that’s fucking bullshit” or the stupid “pun” of the steam cleaner looking like a ship in space shot got a “what the fuck is happening”.
Mauler's Star Wars sequel sounds pretty solid - Leia was tortured by the Empire and had her home world blown up, so yeah she is the one who is going to want to extirpate anything that looks Empirey. Luke feels he has already played his part, and that other than redeeming his father he is just some dude who wants to sit and be zen. Han has no real personal connection to the conflict anyway, and is not happy being a general, and even more so about the bad things you have to do if you run a state. Good solid development.
It's so weird when Mauler and SWT talk with each other, because they're not in sync at all. Mauler says that all the people who accuse them as sexist has as rebuttal these days against the counterpoint of Leia or Sarah Connor or Ridley is "wow, so original." And then SWT immediately following dismisses the "grifter" accusation because he thinks it's unoriginal. (I'm not saying the accusation has merit, but originality isn't relevant, like Mauler points out) SWT says that he knows he'll make the most money when SW is good, and he brings up the Mando S2 finale, and Mauler just completely ignores it and starts talking about something else, despite the fact that Mauler thinks the Mando S2 finale is garbage. It's so surreal. Edit: A superchat about a 12-year-old girl being mad at TLJ for what it did to Luke has Mauler say that you can get angry at writing even if you're young, and that he himself got mad at a movie when he was 12 for what it did to characters he liked. And then SWT says, "yeah, I watched SW for the first time when I was 6 and fell in love with it" How can you possibly pay so little attention and be that out of sync?
@@LysvsylExcept the time he debated Destiny's friends on "transformative content" where he ended up being 1v3 against people he didn't know for the bulk of it; and he held his own with a clear head until the conversation got derailed by a completely unrelated debate Mauler had no context for. From what I've seen he's been pretty consistent about holding his own no matter what the numbers are. He's just strategic about when to make a big stink about stuff. He'll say "Yeah but real quick, Andor's good," or "not a fan of Mando", but he doesn't interrupt the people who _are_ talking about Mando among themselves just because he disagrees with them. He knows when he's part of a conversation, and when he isn't. He's just courteous, is what I'm saying. Rags does exactly what you guys are recommending and half of everyone swears he's an insufferable asshole for exactly that. I value both of their temperaments. They're a tag-team for a reason.
@@samwallaceart288 I hate this false equivalence where it's impossible to have a civil conversation about a disagreement. You're either "polite" and shut up or you're Rags and insulting.
@@samwallaceart288 Jfc. My entire point is that you've made it into a farcical dichotomy where he can't discuss their disagreement without being impolite. No one says that Mauler has to be shitting on him like he's Wolf or Rags (in fact, that's the part of their personality I hate the most). Just that it's really frustrating to hear statements that, if it had been a video coverage, would get explored and dissected, but when it's IN PERSON they're just completely ignored, even though it being in person gives it far greater potential for discussion. Is it any wonder SWT thinks Mauler would like the Clone Wars, or that they mostly agree on everything? He doesn't know Mauler, because Mauler seems to be treating him with kiddy gloves, as if he'd break at the slightest hint of firm push-back. Mauler never tells him what he really thinks, and it's baffling. Mauler is like the one person who has the composure and affability to argue in firm, in-depth disagreement with someone without emotions flaring up and derailing the whole thing.
Wait, Theory’s Darth Vader show features Mace Windu after order 66; after he was electrocuted, had his hand cut off, and was thrown out of a window into the busy city?! He could never have survived that!
Some how Mace Windu returned. Although TBF, Windu's one of the only characters who is plausibly powerful enough to pull something together. And really, it's not that hard to imagine in this case. After all, in the previous film Anakin and Obi Wan jump/fall out the hover car and land onto another far below. Even after receiving wounds, for Windu, it's possible he could have recovered and then force pulled a vehicle to him. Really depends on if he saved versus paralysis from the Force Lighting XP
I mean, yes and now? TCW is dogshit, and Umbara isn't "good" by any means? But it's not *awful* I guess. I can all but promise Mauler, looking at TCW, would be more disinterested than appreciative, the storytelling and character work is shit overall, with *very* rare points of good, which in turn, make the series even more inconsistent.
@@nananamamana3591 Take a chill pill. I don’t entirely disagree with you. I think the character work in Umbara is interesting and would enjoy Mauler’s opinion on it. He’s not someone to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
@@misterjohn2 Why would you assume I'm mad? I do agree that Mauler's method recognizes the quality in the a product even if it's porr overall, but he's also not going to take those things within a vacuum. Even if he said "Ah yeah Umbara was good, great character work there." it'd be immediately followed by "it doesnt elevate this out of mediocrity". While he doesnt throw the baby out with the bathwater, he does say "the bathwater has made this baby too dirty, they can't be cleaned, not without nearly entirely remakign the baby", which is what he's done with his past reviews for Star Wars in particular.

"Nah," said Ghost Yoda, "Imma do my own thing." he said, as he Force Morb'd all over Palpatino Deniro.

*cracks whip*
The ongoing redemption arc of Star Wars Theory warms the crystallised husk that used to be my heart. This alliance between the Longman and the Star War is pleasing to me.
It is compelling to watch Star Wars Theory gradually waking up.
Yes.
Id love for you to be in it dude, you could be..."
I'm inherently suspicious.
@@nnmmnmmnmnnm
Yeah, we do seem to have a had a misunderstanding here.

"Just one more thing..."
Baby Yoda did more to attract new fans to SW than anything in the sequel trilogy, lmao

Love this duo, Thank you both and have yourselves a wonderful day!

"Doing it for the whole trilogy?"
"Yes, it'll be like a 7-8 hour video."
"WHAT?!?"
7-8 hours is honestly pretty short for a longman video on an entire trilogy, my friend.
Every Disney Plus show is a movie with 6 hours of fluff

hell, take it a step further, I want an EU fan to come in and explain just how & why the EU managed to do that the Sequel Trilogy failed to do and why it's even more enraging that they keep stealing ideas directly from the EU. I think MauLer would get a lot of insight into that era of Star Wars that Disney decided to just throw away in favor of their new trash, and how it makes it even more enraging in what was thrown out that made the stories, the vehicles, the worlds, and even the characters from the EU so beloved in the first place.

Compare how they talk about Fan Film EFAP TV; MauLer's all "yeah, that could be fun to get some mates together and ask you questions about it" while Theory's like "well I can't make money off of it, but I won't get mad if anyone else wants to make a reaction to it, that's advertising and hey if you make money off it, fair enough"
The whole mentality and relationship to the content is totally different between them.
As a once-in-a-while get together, they're a great meeting of fanbases to discuss the larger issues; but as a regular program, their motivations and business model are incompatible.
These two are so wholesome together, it sounds like two shy people meeting after using tindr for the first time. Or grindr, I always mix them up.
Star grift will be great even if it is just an hour or two
I love this new Star Wars Fandom multiverse that you guys are getting started! The crossover we need but don't deserve!
Make Theory a regular on EFAP. Its awesome seeing you guys finally collab.
Star Grift is my new favorite podcast after the last MauLer podcast
1:44:33 "What time do you normally sleep?" Silly Star Wars Theory. Mauler doesn't sleep! He recharges his batteries via three main avenues: drinking his rhino milk, raging at bad movies, and taking in power from the Big Gay.
I'm truly shocked and astounded MauLer didn't take the opportunity to throw out Anthony Hopkins as a potential Saruman fit lol
This is the most enjoyment I get out of star wars these days, thank you
That opening is hilarious!!! Star Wars Theory is such a sweet short summer child. He cannot even BEGIN to comprehend The Long. 🤣🤣🤣 LONG LIVE LONG!!!!!
"I always figured long form content was like 10 minutes."
💀💀💀
No, people don't get bored.
Debatable, but go on.
Go on with what? I was done.@@nananamamana3591
A new podcast1!
Should be interesting.
These guys are going to unite the fanbase against Disney with these fun conversations xDD Just write a fan sequel trilogy together already
43:10 "He was so tall and he lived to be so old, which is rare"
You can hear 6'4 MauLer start sweating.
Great! I wished these were more frequent, it's such a chill listen.
Mauler do you have a life? You are taking over every podcast not that i'm complaining.
Loving these discussions. Can't wait til Theory finally sees Filoni for what he is.
Also, shout out to one of my favorite Star Wars lore channels, Noxxarian, who has made my absolute favorite video based on the entirety of Revan's life that clocks in at 8 hours and 59 minutes. He also has it broken down into smaller, less intimidating videos. Spoilers obviously for anyone who decides to check it out.
MAULER START YOUR STAR GRIFT WITH "CYBERPUNK EDGERUNNERS".
I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS TO CRITICAL DRINKER SINCE HIS RAY PALPATINE RETURNED VIDEO.
30:55 almost like what you did with Synth!
I remember dash liked his videos a lot…I’m glad they are getting together..I would like to see Star Wars theory on Open bar
Mauler describing the possible total duration of his TFA retrospective, has me titillated to say the least!
Mauler's out there collecting the Infinity Podcasts
Yes, this should be a new podcast.
But do take care, mate.
I'm stoked to see what fruit this may bear. I've enjoyed these convos so far.
Star Wars Theory would be an intersting guest on open bar
It's so weird when Mauler and SWT talk with each other, because they're not in sync at all.
Mauler says that all the people who accuse them as sexist has as rebuttal these days against the counterpoint of Leia or Sarah Connor or Ridley is "wow, so original."
And then SWT immediately following dismisses the "grifter" accusation because he thinks it's unoriginal. (I'm not saying the accusation has merit, but originality isn't relevant, like Mauler points out)
SWT says that he knows he'll make the most money when SW is good, and he brings up the Mando S2 finale, and Mauler just completely ignores it and starts talking about something else, despite the fact that Mauler thinks the Mando S2 finale is garbage.
It's so surreal.
Edit:
A superchat about a 12-year-old girl being mad at TLJ for what it did to Luke has Mauler say that you can get angry at writing even if you're young, and that he himself got mad at a movie when he was 12 for what it did to characters he liked.
And then SWT says, "yeah, I watched SW for the first time when I was 6 and fell in love with it"
How can you possibly pay so little attention and be that out of sync?
It's called being polite enough to focus on the common ground.
It's how bridges are built.
@@samwallaceart288
I hate this false equivalence where it's impossible to have a civil conversation about a disagreement. You're either "polite" and shut up or you're Rags and insulting.
@@KaNoMikoProductions I like both of them and I don't see why MauLer being polite is a problem
@@samwallaceart288
Jfc.
"You said you were very planned out on your channel. Dude, I haven't planned a video, I think, ever."
I believe you.
Does Mauler make friends easier than an anime character or what? Already he's been offered another podcast to cohost on. 🤣
The unexpected meta is the most enjoyable. The long creep continues.
Wait, Theory’s Darth Vader show features Mace Windu after order 66; after he was electrocuted, had his hand cut off, and was thrown out of a window into the busy city?! He could never have survived that!
No one is ever really gone.
@@IcePhysicsGamingNo.
@@TheHardys01 Why?
Bro, why would you assume anything SWT makes would be good? He doesn't have any writing standards, he just does what he thinks would be cool.
Holy fuck the LOTRFAP will be as long as an EFAP..

Mewbschlie, Lord of the Long, long may he reign
I would kill to hear Mauler’s take on the Umbara clone arc. For me, it’s the high water mark of TCW.
@@nananamamana3591
Take a chill pill.
I don’t entirely disagree with you. I think the character work in Umbara is interesting and would enjoy Mauler’s opinion on it. He’s not someone to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
@@misterjohn2
Why would you assume I'm mad?
I do agree that Mauler's method recognizes the quality in the a product even if it's porr overall, but he's also not going to take those things within a vacuum. Even if he said "Ah yeah Umbara was good, great character work there." it'd be immediately followed by "it doesnt elevate this out of mediocrity".
While he doesnt throw the baby out with the bathwater, he does say "the bathwater has made this baby too dirty, they can't be cleaned, not without nearly entirely remakign the baby", which is what he's done with his past reviews for Star Wars in particular.
@@nananamamana3591 Please don’t assume I’m some kind of TCW white knight. That’s really very annoying.
All I said was I would kill to hear Mauler’s take on the show, especially Umbara.
You seemed a little tilted from your second sentence.
Longoloid, as much as I like the idea of you hosting another podcast, I just hope you don't get burnt out.🥺
If this became a new podcast I'd be a regular. This was cool.
I love these crossovers so much, you're both great people to listen to tallk about star wars
Love the dynamic between these two
The tentacles of the Longman will reach far and wide, binding RUclips into the great Long.
Mauler and SW Theory in not the same room again, what is this? Some sort of alternate universe crossover episode that we never knew we needed but don't really deserve?
Only cameo I care about
Yesssss, just in time for my daily commute
The long lengthens once again, to encompass another podcast.
Stargrift is literally the best name I've heard for a podcast.
that english Wookie impression was actually spot on

I love how EFAP is seen as this evil hater podcast, but if i jad a nickle for every EFAP "villain" that got turned into not just a friend but a semi regular to the show (or in this case a new show) I'd have two nickels: one for Tonald, who is now juat an EFAP champion that people want to see succeed, and now with SW Theory.
It's so wholesome.
Jay also
Naw, Jay was kicked a long time ago, in a podcast far, far away…
Tonald isn't really a semi-regular, hasn't he only ever appeared on the 1 anniversary stream?
