It never ceases to amaze me how 4 guys can spitball better ideas than a whole paid writing room in 3 hours.
You'd be surprised what can get done when DEI doesn't get in the way of creativity.
It's shocking what you can do when the people involved know Star Wars really well, really care about Star Wars, and think about Star Wars a lot both from the perspective of a fan, a critic, and a creator rather than a touring activist who treats the job as a job and the universe as a sandbox they'd just as soon shit in than curate and take care of.

Can you hope for what was again after such utter defeat? The Old Republic was swept away in Star Wars. Ben was one of the last surviving Jedi's guarding a new hope. Ben was no quitter though. He lost his Republic, his order, his rank, his status. Star Wars was always about hope against insurmountable odds.
@@PrivateCitizen84 I like that idea. Except it's like hoping the empire will grow a conscience, go touch grass, and release the galaxy from its grasp. That's a dumb hope. That's akin to hoping Disney will somehow course correct and make star wars awesome again.
Instead I hope that Disney sells the franchise to a studio that doesn't run everything through a wokeness quotient filter. A studio that cares about telling a compelling story with compelling characters, and has respect for the lore. That's my hope.

I can see it hurts when some people hit on you about loving Star Wars and you only want it to be fixed like so many of us.
I have said this tons of times, my brother worked for Disney not Lucasfilm but Disney from 2015-22 as a Graphic Designer and left in the end cause of the politics that had crept into the work environment and I can remember him telling me “you raised one eyebrow about TFA wait till you see TLJ” and he right.
He said he would sit in meetings and see it change over the years and remember him telling me “they don’t care how much it costs, people will eventually come around to there politics and agendas, even when it was pointed out the money they WILL lose”. Even now when I speak to him he says They had a massive push for more diversity in employees and it just changed from having fun to agenda, agenda. Unfortunately I just don’t think Star Wars will ever get fixed.

Drinker is sooo right. The worst thing about geek culture is that it went mainstream. Fake people who just want money come in. Corporatized everytime anything goes mainstream. Games now too. I’ve been told in the past over and over that the more people that consume a thing, the better. What..ever.. I feel like they’re correlating making money with it being good.

I said this before when Star Grift started but I'll say it again, these podcasts are signs of the fandom coming back together. I never thought I'd see SWT doing collabs with people from EFAP, Open-Bar, and FNT because of how vastly different their opinions are, yet here we are! At the end of the day, unless you're a shill, we all are coming to one conclusion; Disney Star Wars is dogshit and is in need of a MASSIVE overhaul.
‘Different opinions’ don’t equal ‘can’t have discussions’ or ‘equals enemies’. These discussions are healthy and show how actual life is supposed to go-how it did go until the last decade or so. These boys are modeling normal, reasonable discourse. Commendable.

I've liked Ahsoka for years and she had an incredible journey in TCW. But I'm starting to feel like Rebels should've been her final journey and should've died during her confrontation with Darth Vader. It may be tragic, but it still would've better supported the overall story and give her a proper send off. But instead, Dave Filoni simply couldn't let her die and had to use time travel to bring her back. Now, Ahsoka has officially become a fan fiction character where she's been shoehorned in several places she didn't belong, and was resurrected not once, not twice, but three time's. Hate to say it, but the Ahsoka show did no favors for her at all. They did nothing interesting with her after Rebels other than butchering another legacy character that Disney has a habit of doing.
Rosario Dawson's acting has been incredibly wooden throughout the entire show, her stoicism comes across as complete emotional disengagement which is not what you want from a main character. After all, If the hero acts like she doesn't care half the time, then why should I? I apologize for my long rant, but that's just how I'm feeling about Ahsoka now. Dave Filoni will never let her go.

I dont know if killing off Ahsoka would've been good, especially the circumstances of her death fighting Vader, but yes she should've been left after Rebels/after ROTJ to rebuild a Jedi school in some far off corner of the galaxy.
Filoni favors his characters over the OG’s while giving them unlimited plot armor. He’s not the savior of Star Wars. He’s good with animated content. Live-action content? Not at all.

What a group. Its nice to see you talking openly about how you feel about Star Wars now. We have needed that from the fandom for years. Too long has it been normal to go with what the masses say, to the point where we all thought people liked the sequels. Im glad to see people being honest finally, and realising that the general consensus is that Disney have royally fucked this up.
I have been watching SW Theory since before I knew of Drinker's existence. I think I started watching around the time when news of sequels came around and we were all excited. Fast forward, things didn't go the way many fans expected and I discovered the critical voices of Drinker and Mauler who rightfully told it how it was . I am so glad that you 3 met together eventually and managed to exchange your opinions in adult and intelligent way. I watched every sequel twice in cinema, hoped for the best etc until I lost interested in SW (bar Andor). The Drinker and Mauler taught me critical thinking and SW Theory built the excitement with his creativity, positivity and hope for the SW culture. I have my own theory on Disney Star Wars. I think Disney see SW as a threat due to it's power of influence on people. They literally used their money to buy and re-shape (read kill) Star Wars and Marvel culture powerhouses. Why do that - you may ask ? Because they are using SW and Marvel to build their own culture and paste it onto the existing fan base. Little did they know, it was not enough to convince people and it's not working well for them. Maybe the new generation is buying it, but the adults and intelligent people don't. I think they are bunch of sick people who think they control the people with money. White slavers - rings any bells?

Drinker hit the nail on the head with his analysis of The Mandolorian and how season was such a success. Disney/LucasFilm has dropped the ball so many times. I wonder why we even bother at all.

Most of the time passion comes from a place of nostalgia. Nostalgia clouds an individuals judgement because naivety makes the average seem incredible. Anything related that comes in the future will never be as good because your naivety has been lost.
One of my biggest gripes with Star Wars currently is how much time it is wasting. We have Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and even Liam Neeson willing, and still young enough to play their characters with maybe a little cgi and some makeup/good lighting. Disney is wasting time to delve further into Obi Wan and Anakin's characters in live action. You could have a series of episodes with Obi Wan and Qui Gon having a conversation that bookends each episode connecting thematically to flashbacks with Obi Wan and Anakin in the time leading up to RoTS. You could connect all the juicy 'Clone Wars' character moments with the live action characters. Giving those who've seen TCW series some good fan service that is more than just key jangling, while giving the fans of Star Wars who've not watched the animated stuff some much needed character information and introspection.
tldr: Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor aren't getting any younger. Not making more content with them is Disney throwing a match on a pile of money while smiling like they aren't sinking.

It preserves the Vader reveal, makes the weird contracitions between the original trilogy make more sense i.e. why Obi-Wan would lie and Luke and Leia being twins, Leia's birth in RotS becomes a Vader-esqu surprise that only builds anticipation leading into RotJ and during it as well since the audience has longer to sit with Leia being Vader's kid and how she could be twisted to the Darkside like we JUST saw Palpatine do to Anakin, "There is another" makes immediate sense to the audience rather than retrospectively, And it solidifies Return of the Jedi as the Come Full Circle conclusion and Finale of the story with full context and a happy ending.
As someone who's loved SW Theory, Mauler and Critical drinker this was amazing
kudos for not giving in to people trying to dictate who you can stream with. That seems along the lines of a 'friend' trying to decide who you can associate with. I'd be much more likely to dump the friend dictating to me than the one they're trying to remove from my life. Then again, I like Mauler, Ryan and Drinker, so what do I know. For what it's worth you gain me as a subscriber, so maybe that'll help offset those who think they control you.

First came across Theory's channel back in 2015, had unsubscribed for a while after the atrocity that was Disney Star Wars as I didn't want to even think about the damage that had been done, and came across Drinker & MauLer's channels around 2020. Been a huge fan of the two ever since, and recently your collaboration with them has prompted me to resubscribe and fall in love with your content again. RK is right. I've had the same feelings, ice the brand for like 5-8 years and then come out with a trailer for Darth Bane: Path of Destruction.
Not making movies after TROS is as close to icing the brand as they could realistically do. And they still don't have scripts for any announced movies after years of wait.
Current Lucasfilm would waste time for 8 years and just write the script for a Darth Bane movie a day before it comes out. And then wonder why fans say it sucks.

@@mejdlocraftci He reads them like he would prefer to be dead currently, he skips words, sometimes entire sentences, doesn't let Mauler answer half the questions so long as Theory has assumed he has already perfectly covered it, he will move onto the next super chat only to suddenly get to the only relative point he made on the previous super chat, leaves up a brand new one on screen for the next few minutes and in doing so sometimes assumes that was now the superchat he didn't decide to give any actual thought to for the other 99% of its coverage and ends up now skipping a superchat someone spent their money on and he never even acknowledges as a entirely different question. Also, kind of a nit pick but his lack of general knowledge makes every other superchat shocking to him, halting the show, and comes off as clueless about anything but himself which is textbook narcissism.
I guess this wasn't really Disney's fault but I was playing SWBII (2005) recently and just the story of the 501st talking about the war up to and beyond the point of order 66 was so interesting. How the clones knew what was about to come. Mentioning how they felt when interacting with the jedi, feeling guilty about some of their deaths, not being able to look them directly in the eye when interacting with them, hoping they had quick deaths. It was so much more interesting than just having them being controlled with a chip. It would've been harder to make the clones into characters like in TCW but heck they could've been interesting characters then.
That is also a great story but in my opinion the story of men we see gain their independence suddenly having it stripped away while having to kill the only people who didn't see them as people is definitely greater. Both are great but the chips just seem more tragic
@@davidfrederiksen3185 Yeah the story changes massively between the two. I understand the tragedy works better for characters like Cody and Rex where we learn about them and their relations to being a clone and their relationships with the Jedi.
The indoctrination/plan is more intriguing to me if the clones knew what was to come, how they dealt with it, the aftermath, the friendships they built and how they crumbled. This would mean the tragedy affects the Jedi.
It really just depends on what you fancy at that point.
I like the idea of the clones partly being indoctrinated and partly just seeing the Jedi order being rotten from the inside. Like if we'd seen Cody serving Jedi from across the galaxy. Treating clones as expendable leading to a growing animosity between them. Obi-wan and Anakin befriend other clones, treat them like equals. Cody questions his mission but in the end the order falls. Maybe he took it upon himself to shoot Obi-wan. He misses and gives Obi-wan a chance to get away. And then you question whether he intentionally misses or not.
In my opinion, that would be more interesting than the brain control chip.

Its great how Theory is reaching out having these people on his stream. Its nice to keep Theory a little more grounded given some of his wild insights on Ahsoka series and his love for Dave F. Even on the other side its nice that the other guys are getting some insight from Theory on why he likes what he likes. Different perspectives are valuable here. Awesome stream!

The writing has always been the problem with the (Disney Star Wars) movies. They can’t even get out finished scripts any more. Taika Watititi’s SW movie was canceled because he couldn’t come up with a script. The new Rey movie is delayed because they changed script writers and then the new writer is delayed on starting a draft. And yes, the script writers on the trilogy were disjointed and changed so many times. And the quality of the final product was really bad.
But it’s become obvious that they’re not going to learn their lesson on this about putting priority on quality writing. So the movies will continue to suck.

It’s just the radical left who can’t listen to any other viewpoint other than their own side. honestly Star wars now needs a total reboot and not lame stuff like Jedi origins or whatever, just start from scratch, with real experienced authors in control of the project, people like Tony Gilroy.
Just do something set thousands of years after the OT, new aesthetic but still a bit reminiscent of the OT, new story concepts and ideas, more evolved technology because of the time skip, maybe make droids a actual species of synths that are important for the story and not comic reliefs or sorta, NO cameos or fan-service of old events and characters, they shouldn't even talk about them for how far in the future this is set, basically REIMAGINE Star Wars in everything, but in a faithful way to its main themes and unique elements...
Its the only way because you cant fix the damage of the Sequels.
Just do the Original trilogy again BUT without copying it badly like the Sequels, i mean in terms of creative intentions of making something new and unique, that will be timeless eventually.
