I can't believe no one else has mentioned that the incredible Sir Dr. Brian May put this on his Twitter when it came out with one word, "Enjoy, " can it get any better than an original member of Queen commenting on a cover of one of their most famous songs?!?!?! I couldn't WAIT to watch you react to this and it was EVERYTHING!!!! So fucking awesome!!!! And I know I told you it would be great, but I don't think anyone can accurately describe just how incredible it is!!

@@ShyAnn291 being that I’ve seen them perform this live a couple times I do agree that the megaphone is a prop but you do realize that when they filmed the video they were singing along to their recorded track so that would explain there still being sound if Mitch puts the megaphone down a second before the sound stops.

For years they said they would not do this or they didn't think they were ready enough to do it. It was published April 7th 2017. Avi announced he would be leaving the following month and left September 3rd at the end of their tour. I'm almost afraid to recommend "Aha! Singapore Star Vista". It's considered one of their best live performances and a highlight performance for both Mitch and Avi, but I don't know if you can take it. It might blow your mind so hard it actually kills you.

This one is so amazing! One of my favorites. You should also check out their original Love Again. That one is definitely one of my favorite originals. It's also really cool to watch their performances on the Sing-Off (season 3) and see just how far they've come. Scott Kirstie and Mitch had just met Avi and Kevin shortly before they appeared on the show. They had some really good ones there. Two of my favorites were Dog Days are Over and Born to be Wild but they had a lot of good pieces in that show

Whenever I watch Pentatonix I get the impression that they are together because they love each other and because they are having crazy fun. At the same time, they sound phenomenal
Mind blowing talent of 5 voices creates complete wall of sound...I always forget on this that there is only voices!! Everytime! One of the best reactions to this I've seen enjoyed it!
Love your reactions. you have not even got halfway through their list of songs. Some songs you need to listen to are. Amazing Grace, Love again. will have you dropping your jaw to the ground. some others that should be high on the list are. Shallow, Mad World, Can You Feel the Love Tonight?. Rather be, Havana, Perfect, Run to you, Can't Hold Us, and Save the World/Don't You Worry Child. That should be a good start. You haven't even got to their Christmas music.

That's what I like best about PTX--you watch one of their videos and it's hard to single out one member because they each contribute soooo much. Every song, you find yourself thinking, "Wow, that middle part with Kevin..but that opening verse from Scott...oh, and Kirstie when she belted her part...and Mitch came in with his angelic voice...and I could feel it in my bones when Avi/Matt's bass notes hit..." Every member shines in every song. Even when you think one member has the lead for most of the song (like Kirstie's amazing "Say Something" if you go back and rewatch and focus on a different member each time you watch, you'll see that they are each doing something incredible in the background. They're just perfect together.
So true! People sometimes say something about how I didn’t call out a specific part that they think is amazing but.. I might have missed it because it’s the first time I saw it ! Or there is so much goodness going on that I am overwhelmed with it all ! 😂

Plus, people have their favorite members and want to make sure you saw what their favorite did, but honestly, they're all incredible. You're giving us your honest first reaction and doing it very well.
This is the classic performance of theirs that turned me into a Pentaholic! Even members of Queen praised them for the homage to the original that they did. Will always be at or near the top of my list of PTX performances, though with maturity, their amazing skills at harmonizing in amazing ways has gotten so much stronger.

They spent five years working on and perfecting this arrangement before they finally recorded it out of pure respect for the original Queen version. The megaphone was just a prop used in the video. When they perform the sone live, Mitch doesn't use the megaphone. There's a behind the scenes video of this that's also a fun watch. That moving couch was an adventure. They had to put a board across the back of it to allow Kirstie to climb over it and she STILL almost fell off a couple of times, and it even ran over Kevin at one point!

The shot of the starry sky during Mitch's final "guitar" solo was a nod to Queen guitarist Brian May, who went on to earn a PhD in astrophysics. And yeah, Kevin and Avi are incredible as the percussion set here. You should also react to Kevin Olasula's cover of "Down." It's an unforgettable performance. You should watch just for your own entertainment the behind the scenes video for this. The moving couch, the fact that they shot all night, Kevin falling off the couch, Kirstin leaping on to it like a Super Hero in those heels. It is very funny and interesting.

But you asked for some other groups, so I would like to suggest two other artists of different genres that have a surprising number of cross over fans. "Falling in Reverse" (metal, scene, rock, rap, all mixed into something incredible}, and Tom McDonald (hot topic rap)

Oh my goodness, watching you watching this was so awesome! I realized that I was doing so many of the same things you were, and I have watched PTX Bohemian… so many times! I can’t wait until October, Making Christmas, Nightmare Before Christmas, is incredible, musically very difficult. Then all of the Christmas songs, plus with Home Free too, their Oh Holy Night, 😊. I totally understand just becoming a new Pentaholic, that was me not long ago, I still can’t wait to see you react to Dimash, his new song Stranger is absolutely epic!
*HUGE GRIN* Now you see why I chided you for not having watched this yet. Though I agree with one of the other commenters that it's good that you had enough of them under your belt to actually understand just how incredible this performance was. One of the reasons I was so impatient for you to react to this is because I simply love watching your face as you react. That unbridled smile of delight and amazement is just so much fun to see. You still have an enormous collection of choices in front of you - you won't be bored. :) "Amazing Grace" was mentioned by several, and it really is a superb choice. The song itself is so beautiful, and the arrangement they chose to cover (with "My Chains are Gone" added to the original version) is stirring and soulful. The location they filmed it in is unbelievably gorgeous, as well. Alternatively, you might want to listen to some of their new album, with or without an actual video. There isn't a single track off "The Lucky Ones" that isn't incredible. I think "Happy Now" would please you. :D
That was beyond Amazing....l can't get over the sounds of instruments, the drums, all percussion sounds Kevin comes up with. Avi in it with KO on sounds wind, etc. and it's so smooth and mind boggling. KO wonderful tenor too. Mitch, such a voice. Mitch started with "Mama" etc..... and in union with background of KO and percussion together and the sounds. WOW! Then we have the wee dynamo, Kirsty, holding up the fort, singing gorgeous and the added sound as she works with KO and interplaysthe rest especially Mitch. They sound alike to me at times. Hard to tell on first run. Have to relisten to get it all. I always get more on 2ND run. Her highs and lows and the "Mama Mia" and that high Note! Don't mean to jump ahead but is it just me, or does anyone else hear Karen Valentine in a few spots along the way? very distinct to me near end "nothing really matters" great sound and singing all around. KO & Ari and the wind blows! Ari's bass so warm, rich tones throughout in various spots. He hits in and runs to another section and new tone, range! I loved his slide in with bass....at "doesn't really matter to me. Kirsten's drive here is great. What range...5 octaves? Then Mitch, at perfect Mama note and into gun, throw away and then the megaphone. OMG! They're all in and Kevin and the symbols! Mitch...."too late" that lead area on in, is beautiful. "Mama Mia" area and Ari then the romp ARI & KO with "any way the wind blows!" I love hearing Scott in forefront as he jumps in full rich voice and takes control. Then he leads into "OH, Baby" and on has such range too. He does it all. That's a gift alone to hear where to jump in as bari or bass or tenor, and hit the spot. He jumps in and gets it done. Gold plated ears. I call him the cleaner! Love his voice too ( all of them)! The run up to "Oh Baby"... Oh yeah! Full chest voice. Gifted lad! We were introduced to them via a male friend who sang in a Champion Quartet. We knew as soon as we heard PTX that they had something else! Now, over the years they seem to have gone on to greatness, from.... greatness! What a musical blessing they are. They had Ari, then Matt. What are the odds for getting a group like this together with the talents, and blend they have. PTX is providential. Their vocal range, interchange of harmony parts, balance, blend, vocal production is heaven sent. . Even the angels sit and listen. Vocally they are working.... and so rehearsed, they must lose weight each performance! Are they exhausted after a performance like Rhapsody? We all love performing, but they have the added elements that allows them to make the music their own. (JMO) I just knew Kev was the drum, but assumed Ari, Kirsten jumped in at various times. The back and forth of "Let em go"...is wonderful. I never get tired of them. Genius...pure genius. Travis I'm not going to say once more " this is by far my favorite".... because then I'll hear PTX's Imagine! They are all so unique with the PTX stamp that I can't pick my favorite. Trav, sorry about your accident. Are you Ok. How about the car? Were you listening to the Coffee song? I saw that dazed look in your eye when your hearing a new PTX and they have captured you. Better not leave any PTX in the car while it's being repaired! That's all I'm going to say. This was actually the first video I heard of from them. My music teacher put this in class and I was instantly hooked with how amazing they are!!!! Now 7 months later I practically know all the words to their songs 😅😅😅 and this will always be my favorite song from PTX. I am so glad I found them I just wish I found them sooner!!!

Love your reactions. you have not even got halfway through their list of songs. Some songs you need to listen to are. Amazing Grace, Love again. will have you dropping your jaw to the ground. some others that should be high on the list are. Shallow, Mad World, Can You Feel the Love Tonight?. Rather be, Havana, Perfect, Run to you, Can't Hold Us, and Save the World/Don't You Worry Child. That should be a good start. You haven't even got to their Christmas music.

That's what I like best about PTX--you watch one of their videos and it's hard to single out one member because they each contribute soooo much. Every song, you find yourself thinking, "Wow, that middle part with Kevin..but that opening verse from Scott...oh, and Kirstie when she belted her part...and Mitch came in with his angelic voice...and I could feel it in my bones when Avi/Matt's bass notes hit..." Every member shines in every song. Even when you think one member has the lead for most of the song (like Kirstie's amazing "Say Something" if you go back and rewatch and focus on a different member each time you watch, you'll see that they are each doing something incredible in the background. They're just perfect together.
So true! People sometimes say something about how I didn’t call out a specific part that they think is amazing but.. I might have missed it because it’s the first time I saw it ! Or there is so much goodness going on that I am overwhelmed with it all ! 😂

Plus, people have their favorite members and want to make sure you saw what their favorite did, but honestly, they're all incredible. You're giving us your honest first reaction and doing it very well.
This is the classic performance of theirs that turned me into a Pentaholic! Even members of Queen praised them for the homage to the original that they did. Will always be at or near the top of my list of PTX performances, though with maturity, their amazing skills at harmonizing in amazing ways has gotten so much stronger.

They spent five years working on and perfecting this arrangement before they finally recorded it out of pure respect for the original Queen version. The megaphone was just a prop used in the video. When they perform the sone live, Mitch doesn't use the megaphone. There's a behind the scenes video of this that's also a fun watch. That moving couch was an adventure. They had to put a board across the back of it to allow Kirstie to climb over it and she STILL almost fell off a couple of times, and it even ran over Kevin at one point!
And this did NOT disappoint! So glad you're so blown away. Epic reaction :-)

The shot of the starry sky during Mitch's final "guitar" solo was a nod to Queen guitarist Brian May, who went on to earn a PhD in astrophysics. And yeah, Kevin and Avi are incredible as the percussion set here. You should also react to Kevin Olasula's cover of "Down." It's an unforgettable performance. I believe it may have been his viewing of this video that led Scott to recruit Kevin for PTX in the first place. Love your reactions! Keep 'em coming!
Scott saw Kevin on a RUclips video in 2011 cello boxing right before getting them (KO and Avi) for The Sing Off (Season 3) Kevin performed "Down" for his album KOver in 2017.

You should watch just for your own entertainment the behind the scenes video for this. The moving couch, the fact that they shot all night, Kevin falling off the couch, Kirstin leaping on to it like a Super Hero in those heels. It is very funny and interesting.

As you will now realise, every PTX performance is worth watching - I don't believe there is a bad one. To see what they were like when they were just school kids performing in the sing-off in 2011 which got them started, I suggest watching Dog Days are Over, then get the tissues ready for a beautiful one you have missed - Amazing Grace. Oh my goodness, watching you watching this was so awesome! I realized that I was doing so many of the same things you were, and I have watched PTX Bohemian… so many times! I can’t wait until October, Making Christmas, Nightmare Before Christmas, is incredible, musically very difficult. Then all of the Christmas songs, plus with Home Free too, their Oh Holy Night, 😊. I totally understand just becoming a new Pentaholic, that was me not long ago, I still can’t wait to see you react to Dimash, his new song Stranger is absolutely epic!
*HUGE GRIN* Now you see why I chided you for not having watched this yet. Though I agree with one of the other commenters that it's good that you had enough of them under your belt to actually understand just how incredible this performance was.
One of the reasons I was so impatient for you to react to this is because I simply love watching your face as you react. That unbridled smile of delight and amazement is just so much fun to see.
You still have an enormous collection of choices in front of you - you won't be bored. :) "Amazing Grace" was mentioned by several, and it really is a superb choice. The song itself is so beautiful, and the arrangement they chose to cover (with "My Chains are Gone" added to the original version) is stirring and soulful. The location they filmed it in is unbelievably gorgeous, as well.
Alternatively, you might want to listen to some of their new album, with or without an actual video. There isn't a single track off "The Lucky Ones" that isn't incredible. I think "Happy Now" would please you. :D
I came for the megaphone Mitch slap and I was not disappointed!
That was beyond Amazing....l can't get over the sounds of instruments, the drums, all percussion sounds Kevin comes up with. Avi in it with KO on sounds wind, etc. and it's so smooth and mind boggling. KO wonderful tenor too. Mitch, such a voice. Mitch started with "Mama" etc..... and in union with background of KO and percussion together and the sounds. WOW! Then we have the wee dynamo, Kirsty, holding up the fort, singing gorgeous and the added sound as she works with KO and interplaysthe rest especially Mitch. They sound alike to me at times. Hard to tell on first run. Have to relisten to get it all. I always get more on 2ND run. Her highs and lows and the "Mama Mia" and that high Note! Don't mean to jump ahead but is it just me, or does anyone else hear Karen Valentine in a few spots along the way? very distinct to me near end "nothing really matters" great sound and singing all around. KO & Ari and the wind blows! Ari's bass so warm, rich tones throughout in various spots. He hits in and runs to another section and new tone, range! I loved his slide in with bass....at "doesn't really matter to me. Kirsten's drive here is great. What range...5 octaves? Then Mitch, at perfect Mama note and into gun, throw away and then the megaphone. OMG! They're all in and Kevin and the symbols! Mitch...."too late" that lead area on in, is beautiful. "Mama Mia" area and Ari then the romp ARI & KO with "any way the wind blows!" I love hearing Scott in forefront as he jumps in full rich voice and takes control. Then he leads into "OH, Baby" and on has such range too. He does it all. That's a gift alone to hear where to jump in as bari or bass or tenor, and hit the spot. He jumps in and gets it done. Gold plated ears. I call him the cleaner! Love his voice too ( all of them)! The run up to "Oh Baby"... Oh yeah! Full chest voice. Gifted lad! We were introduced to them via a male friend who sang in a Champion Quartet. We knew as soon as we heard PTX that they had something else! Now, over the years they seem to have gone on to greatness, from.... greatness! What a musical blessing they are. They had Ari, then Matt. What are the odds for getting a group like this together with the talents, and blend they have. PTX is providential. Their vocal range, interchange of harmony parts, balance, blend, vocal production is heaven sent. . Even the angels sit and listen. Vocally they are working.... and so rehearsed, they must lose weight each performance! Are they exhausted after a performance like Rhapsody? We all love performing, but they have the added elements that allows them to make the music their own. (JMO) I just knew Kev was the drum, but assumed Ari, Kirsten jumped in at various times. The back and forth of "Let em go"...is wonderful. I never get tired of them. Genius...pure genius.
Travis I'm not going to say once more " this is by far my favorite".... because then I'll hear PTX's Imagine! They are all so unique with the PTX stamp that I can't pick my favorite. Trav, sorry about your accident. Are you Ok. How about the car? Were you listening to the Coffee song? I saw that dazed look in your eye when your hearing a new PTX and they have captured you. Better not leave any PTX in the car while it's being repaired! That's all I'm going to say. I have to look for your review of my favorite BJC ( Brian Justin Crum) the superstar that is to be recognized in the near future! Have no clue what the Record Company Scouts are doing. ‘I don’t know what else to say about it’, says it all.
This was actually the first video I heard of from them. My music teacher put this in class and I was instantly hooked with how amazing they are!!!! Now 7 months later I practically know all the words to their songs 😅😅😅 and this will always be my favorite song from PTX. I am so glad I found them I just wish I found them sooner!!!
